Padded well for Snowboarding
This is my first pair of padded shorts so I don't have anything really to compare them to. I will say that they functionally met all the requirements I was looking for in a pair of padded shorts for snowboarding. I did make a few mods to the shorts. I had a knee pad that was made out of very similar sponge material as the padding in the shorts. I cut new pads out of the knee pad since the knee pad was about 1" thick. I felt the stock pads were a bit on the thin side. I also removed the side pads since I rarely fall on my side on snowboard. They didn't seem necessary. The modded shorts greatly reduced all tailbone and butt crashes. I catch edges all the time and these shorts did the trick.Pros:* Great Fit. I wear size 34-36 inch waist pants and I got the Large/X-Large. They didn't seem to tight and nor too loose.* Low profile - No one could tell that i had anything additional on under my board pants. You don't have to worry about diaper butt with these shorts.* Padding is in the right spots. It has good coverage of the butt area and tail bone. The place where you land most often when catching an edge.* BreathableCons:* Padding is on the thin side. The stock padding is about 1/2" thick.

Good fit, not too bulky
Not overly padded like some brands and the backside padding is long enough to cover my tailbone, which isn’t always the case with padded shorts. The tailbone padding isn’t quite enough for my (progressing) snowboarding ‘skills’ though, and the padding got a bit compressed in just that one area. I fell so much at the beginning of this season though, that I can hardly blame it. I had a thin piece of foam at home so I cut a piece to match the rear pad in its entirety and now it’s perfect again

but still comfortable and flexible and not restrictive or overly tight at ...
These shorts fit me well as a 115 lb. 5'5" female. The legs come down long enough to where they fall slightly above my knee which is the length I was looking for. The material is snug, meaning all the padding stays in place, but still comfortable and flexible and not restrictive or overly tight at the waist. The only downside is that the tailbone padding is somewhat thin. I have yet to wear these shorts whilst snowboarding (which is what I purchased them for) but I may try to find some extra padding material that I can cut up and insert into the tailbone area before hitting the slopes(fortunately there are entry points to insert / remove the existing padding for washing, meaning I can try to add more of my own padding for extra protection). If the tailbone padding had been thick enough, I would have given these shorts five stars...but because they fell short in this regard, I could only give three. But like I said, I will likely keep them and try to modify them -- because out of the four items I purchased off Amazon for this purpose, these were the best of the bunch. The other items I tried either fit horribly or offered even less tailbone protection.

Great for snowboarding! Order a size up though (I'm 32/33 waist - ordered a LG/XL and fits perfect)
Went snowboarding yesterday, landed on what would have been my tailbone 2 times - the pads protected my tailbone from the fall. All I felt was the impact spread across my bottom, no pain whatsoever. Although, there wasn't much ice, these seem to have decent protection for your tailbone - especially for the price! I have only used them once, but they held up well snowboarding all day. Also, these shorts fit well - I am a 32/33 waist, I purchased a LG/XL (I read other reviews that mentioned to purchase a size up). They fit great, are breathable, and super easy to maneuver in.Overall, great product for the price.

No padding under sit bones when sitting
I bought this to protect my sit bones while sailing. However when I sit, the shorts expand leaving gaps between the padding. Since the seams right along my sit bones, there is NO padding there and no way to add padding since the pockets are on either side of the seam. I am really not sure how these would protect anyone from a fall directly on their rump.

Great padding for a beginning snowboarder
This was great for my 15-year-old to use during snowboarding lessons. He's tall and slim and I used his measurements for sizing and they fit well. Original price is rather expensive, but the pair I got from Amazon had been listed as a return/repackaged item. It was the size I needed so I ordered it and turn's out it was a great bargain. However, I wouldn't try to same money on a cheaper, Chinese imported pair. I had also ordered the "docooler 3D padded shorts" since I wasn't sure which my son would prefer. That imported pair were quite uncomfortable for him. The Decooler had hard pads and stiff, scratchy plastic threading that he said were way too uncomfortable all around the thighs.Order some wrist guards too if learning to snowboard. You will need those too. We didn't order any but he wished he had some!

Nice, lightweight construction with decent padding
Nice, lightweight construction with decent padding. The padding is rather slim and that does comes with some trade offs. It obviously won't feel like falling on a pillow but it also won't make your butt look 10x larger under those snow pants. I feel like there's a good compromise because you definitely need mobility while snowboarding and these won't get in the way. Also, this won't prevent major injuries but will soften the blow a little and maybe make those bruises a little smaller and more bearable. It provides some warmth while sitting on the snow and chair lift which is extremely valuable after a long day on the mountain. The only possible negative I can see is durability. The elastic fabric and seams may tear after some hard use but that is yet to be seen.

Tailbone is happy!
Went snowboarding for the first time. Needless to say I spent a good amount of time on my behind. These shorts definitely helped soften the fall. No bruised, sore or broken tailbone, which is what I was trying avoid. I'm 5'7 about 125lbs. I'm not curvy so the xsmall fit me perfectly. Thanks!
