Love Letters From A Nihilist: The Complete Short Fiction of Brian Keene, Volume 3

An absolutely packed collection of dark fiction spanning the authors career!
Volume 3 of Brian Keene's Complete Short Fiction: Love Letters From A Nihilist is 36 short stories spanning over 300 pages. In the Foreward, Keene writes that this collection does not have a set theme but it does have a sense of finality or futility. There are some early stories going back to his Fear Of Gravity days (The Purple Reign, The King, In: Yellow) and even some from 1996 (The Sleepwalker and Prehance to A Dream). There are a few really good zombie tales (Pages from a Notebook Found Inside a House in the Woods, No Sleep in Brooklyn, Growlers, Grammar of the Dead, The Ties that Bind) and 2 rare great vampire stories (The Last Supper and Down Under). You also are treated to 2 stories involving the mysesterious character called The Exit in Exit Strategies and A Delayed Exit. Fans will be excited to see Through Mirrors Darkly which involves the crossover between the awesome character, Levi Stoltzfus and Rogan from the Bastard series. And that's not even half of the stories included. Keene really packs this book with his trademark dark fiction from beginning to end plus you also get Story Notes to each and every story, which I always love. Hope to see Volumes 4, 5, 6, and on and on in the future!

Good stuff
Been waiting for this since I finished volume 2. Lots of good stories in here, even the ones he isn't too particularly proud of. And for every story I've read in another book (for example, The King: In YELLOW was also available in the Deadite Press edition of Jack's Magic Beans), there were 3 to 4 that I had never read before. The two vampire stories were awesome as was his wild west tale. Looking forward to his eventual full novels in those genres as well as Volume 4 of the short fiction.

Keene is still the man
Have been a fan a long time and have yet to read anything that I didn’t enjoy. Seeing some of his older work that I haven’t read yet is always a good time

Great read and a must have for any Keene fan
One of the most engaging short story collections I've read. Lots of call backs and easter eggs for fans who have read everything yet completely approachable if you have never read any of his work.

More Excellent and Must Read Short Fiction from Brian Keene
This is the third volume of Keene's "The Complete Short Fiction" and is essential reading for any Keene fan or anyone who likes dam good horror fiction, heck you dont even need to be a horror fan to appreciate the worlds and stories Brian creates. Keene also provides background notes to each story, some are just a few lines long but they give you a fascinating insight into the creative process and Keene as an individual. If like me, you have devoured everything the guy has written you will find a few familiar stories but there are so many new stories to enjoy that it is still worth buying. For fans of the Rising and the Labyrinth Mythos you will not be dissapointed and for those you unfamiliar with The Labyrinth, lets just say once you know of its existence you will find yourself wanting to know more. Google will not you so the only way to know more is to buy everything Keene has ever written. But back to the book. It is an excellent read with thought provoking and intriguing stories. What more is there to say except for click on "buy it now".
