Best modern N64 controller every made!
Many out there are trying to make modern N64 controllers, but Hyperkin really did it right! I think some may only complain about the feel of buttons and probably complain of the sizing of the L & R buttons next to the 2 Z triggers next to them, but honestly me and my Wife love this controller that we got both the black and the white one, and she hopes they come up with more color variations later such as pink & etc. It's Bluetooth to where it can be used on both PC & N64 with no problem thanks to a wireless adapter that you can plug into your actual N64. Never tried it on Android or anything yet, but so far it performs very well other than sometimes when you play a First-Person Shooter like Quake. GoldenEye, Duke Nukem 64 and others where if you nudge the analog stick to the left slightly you'll slowly drift to the left where you'll have to move it again to stop. Never really came across that issue in Racing games where the analog stick is very important for precise turning though. Other Non-Hyperkin Admiral controllers you come across are gonna likely be wired for only one platform, perform badly, be a pain to pair via Bluetooth, and have parts grinding against each other such as the analog stick grinding against the L button, and even have the D-Pad directly in the middle where it's hard to play with. None of those are an issue with the Hyperkin Admiral

A great controller to beat your kids in Mario Kart!
Such an upgrade over the original N64 controller. As my library of nostalgia builds, it still requires some creature comforts that modern systems have to offer, that I'm unwilling to do without. That being a wireless controller. When it came to N64 I didnt want to lose my memory card save function. So it had to be wireless and have a memory card option. The Admiral was only one of a few that are available. Super happy with the controller feel. Hands felt comfortable in the molded grips. Found button and joystick response times to be unnoticeable from the old corded controller. I ordered the Space Black. I was what I was hopping for, a translucent black. Fits the motif! Bonus features. The memory card slot accepts micro SD cards, eliminating the need for they old grey memory cards. Really like it. Will be being another pair to show the kids how Mario Kart is played. No mercy!

It works well
It's not perfect, but as a wireless solution for the N64 it's pretty good. Using BlueTooth is a great bonus, but there are definitely better BlueTooth controllers out there. If you're dead set on having a wireless controller, this is a fine one to use. Pros: It's wireless! I haven't found any other wireless N64 controllers, so this seems to be the only option. It's BlueTooth, so it works with anything and is generally easy to pair. Tried it with my Android phone, no issues. Tried it with my PC, it worked fine after some extra steps. No noticeable input lag. The dongle that plugs into your N64 can also read and write Memory card data for backup and restoration from an SD card (it's a bit clunky, though). I didn't test it but these could probably be used with an emulator on your PC. Cons: It's pretty uncomfortable to hold. It really doesn't fit the hands very well. Windows 10 wanted a PIN code to pair it, and none of the usual ones work (0000, 1234, etc). Instead of pairing it the usual way, you need to add it as a Personal Area Network device (by right-clicking on the BlueTooth icon in the System Tray). The layout is a bit weird and the C-buttons are odd sizes, I sometimes find myself hitting the wrong button. I have to press really hard on the A button to keep it held down, which makes racing games very tiring. There is no rumble support in the controller. You can plug the Rumble Pak into the dongle but it'll just vibrate your console. There is no Transfer Pak support, no matter what. The memory card backups use a specific hardcoded file name on the SD card, so you have to rename files constantly (through a computer) to backup or restore a certain memory card file.

Works Great! Nothing Else Needed! Works with Switch right out of box!
Just read the instructions. It works with the switch right out of the box. Pros: * Works with switch * Works with N64 * Flawless integration to the N64 (modern feel for older games on original hardware!) * Wireless connectivity has no lags * Controller charges via micro USB * Battery life on charge is around 10 hours (from my testing anyway) * Supports Memory Card for N64 * Has 3 different button layout configurations with switch games * Works with ANY switch game (though I would really only use it for the N64 Online Switch titles, maybe SNES and NES??). There are simply not enough buttons for modern games to be compatible. N64 controllers be weird lol Cons: * You can not customize the buttons. I hate this, but the three pre-sets are great. Just not exactly perfect. * You can only pair one system at a time. If you want to swap between your Switch and your Nintendo 64 Console, you have to un-pair and re-pair with whatever system you want to use. Its easy enough to do, but just a pain. I wish this could be fixed. Over all, best controller out there that can do both! From what I understand, not even the officially licensed (and WAY overpriced) Nintendo Switch Online N64 Controller does a 'perfect' job with button mapping, and it is ONLY compatible with the Switch Online N64 game roster.

The first truly wireless N64 controller, but lacks the "premium" title that was listed.
When looking for a wireless N64 controller the pickings are slim and poor. Until the Hyperkin "Admiral" showed up. This design is based of the Japanese Hori N64 controller, and a little Sega Saturn 3D Analog Pad. Nothing wrong there, until you hold it. There is no real shape to this controller. The few videos online do show how "Flat" the controller is. The buttons are flat, the surface if flat and even the analog stick is flat. No curvature to design becomes more apparent when you hold it. If you play any modern console the shape should just sit in your hand. This just feels off. Weight, or lack of weight. This thing is light, featherweight to be exact. It comes across hollow, and it shows when you start pressing buttons and you feel like you can break this thing. There isn't creaking, but holding it to a Hori pad or original N64 controller you know the difference Buttons. Yes they too are flat, but they at least respond extremely well. The only real down side is how close the L/R buttons are to the Z buttons. You can easily click both, and there is no way around it. There is also a lack of buttons. This is a true N64 controller, and it worked great with my N64. Not so great with my Nvidia Shield or PC using Mupen. Using an emulator there aren't enough buttons for mapping extra functions like a menu. N64 receiver/ memory card adapter. It works. It loaded my memory card just fine. Too bad the memory card slot is on the unit so you can't use a rumble pack. That would have given the device the weight is was sorely missing. Battery. I played about 4 hours across three devices, and it worked great. It is listed at 6 hours, and I believe it. There are more wireless options on the way. Retro-Bit has a wireless Tribute64 coming soon. 8BitDo hasn't announced anything yet, but they have done almost all of the consoles so they are probably working on something. I feel Hyperkin jumped the gun a little calling this Premium. At the time of this writing I paid $39.99, but it doesn't feel like the price matched the quality. Wait for a price drop or the competition to arrive before purchasing this controller.

Great price feels like original
I purchased this for my old N64 so I could play at a distance. Stick feels good buttons are solid and I can’t seem to feel any input lag. Using with the included wireless adapter. Battery life is great so far even after sitting for months.

Stick with the original controller for the N64
From Perfect Dark N64 to Zelda Ocarina of Time the original N64 controller is the best controller to play Nintendo 64 on hands down. I just attempted to play N64 with the Hyperkin. Not a chance there is a reason the Original N64 controller was designed the way that is was, and it is optimal gameplay. I know because I just experienced it for myself. I could not play at my best with the Hyperkin Admiral but with the Original N64 controller design I can.

Twitchy stick, barely compatable with the switch
The controler feels alright in the hands for me, but everyone else whos felt it hates it. For n64, it works ok. Having to sync the bluetooth every time you turn the console on is really annoying tho. The Z buttons and control stick are very sensitive. If you want this controler for the switch, know that the buttons cannot be remapped and the stick needs to be calibrated every time you pair it to the console. Honestly youre better off with any of the other n64 controlers as long as you like the feel of the control stick.

2 Controller gekauft beide Defekt

A little less than "premium"
Cons: - Honestly, I'm a little disappointed in the quality of this product given the "premium" label. The plastic exterior feels cheap. - The buttons are a bit "clicky" for my liking, but that comes down to preference. - R2 and L2 on the controller map to the same button. I'm assuming this is because the controller is designed for N64 (which only has a "Z" button). Meaning you couldn't feasibly use this controller to play Playstation games, etc. Pros: - The analog stick feels very nice and has a good amount of smooth resistance. - Controller pairing* is really easy, and I couldn't notice any lag** at all. * Connected to a TP-Link UB500 on Ubuntu Linux. ** Using Retroarch

Excellent little controller with a lot of features
I've recently gotten into playing retro games again and after dusting my N64 off I decided I didn't want to ruin the sticks on the controllers I had and found that the 3rd party ones I had been using were no longer as comfortable as they were. Enter the Hyperkin Admiral, I have looked at this controller in the past and had decided against it at the time as I was happy with emulating on my PC and using an Xbox controller but lately I'd been jonesing for some action on the console itself. The controller weighs about the same as an original N64 controller so the switch from that to the admiral should be negligible in terms of weight but perhaps not in terms or size as it is a fair amount smaller than an original controller - its more akin to the Hori mini pad except a little bigger. The wireless dongle that plugs into your N64 supports 1st and 3rd party memory paks as well as the rumble paks (although its worth noting that this would cause your entire system to rumble and it is advised against even in the instruction manual) the only thing that isn't supported by the dongle is the transfer pak that pokemon stadium used but there is a workaround for that. The dongle also has the ability to transfer your saves from a memory pak to a microSD card (not included) and vice-versa which is handy given the games for an N64 are approaching 30 years old and it never hurts to make backups. The control stick is more the Gamecube style rather than an N64 joystick which is actually my preference as I much prefer that style of control stick but I would understand if it wasn't to everybody's tastes. The buttons all feel nice and responsive and are of a decent size without taking up too much space. This controller can also be used on a PC as it is bluetooth as well as the Nintendo Switch although an update may be required in order to use it on the Switch. A word of warning though is that the program the instruction manual points you to download was marked as a trojan by my antivirus and thus wasn't downloadable but thankfully my controller seemed to be pre-updated to work with the switch which is nice. I'm sure the file was a false-positive but I didn't feel safe disabling my antivirus/firewall for the sake of one program so be warned about that if you intend to use it with the switch and need to update. All in all from the day or two I've had this controller so far I can say I am very impressed with it and would recommend getting it if you're looking to start playing through your oldies again but want a more modern controller layout.
