Feels more like the old Kasie West stories I love
needed a book like this right now. It has some of my favorite elements—enemies to friends to lovers, mistaken identity, anonymous pen pals—and all done really well. It reminded me a lot of one my most favorite Kasie West books, P.S. I Like You. And given that I didn’t much care for the first two books in this interconnected group, I’m especially pleased.Hadley has quite an interesting journey she experiences; the whole “competing with a dead brother” thing could’ve felt like a disaster, but Ms. West handles it really well. She’s able to create a conflict without it feeling overdramatized, and also, like so many YA novels, without it feeling unnecessary. I have little patience for plot lines that are full of easily avoidable conflicts. It feels cheap, and makes you feel like the author doesn’t have much of a story. Ms. West delivers a real story here.Jackson is adorable, and I love him. I married a guy who made me laugh, and feel relaxed in his presence. It’s invaluable. I also like that he’s flawed and has his own fear to face. And maybe because I’m a parent as well, but I enjoyed some of the parent interactions here, especially with Jackson and his mom.The Heath Hall mask concept was creative, and I loved it, even if I figured out who was behind it long before the reveal. The fears that were overcome all varied enough to keep it really interesting and make you wonder what came next.Definitely glad I picked this one up. I highly recommend!

Light and entertaining
As always, Kasie West has written an entertaining story full of great characters. The problem with her books is that you can't wait to see how it ends, but you really want it to go on so you can keep reading it. I always feel good after reading one of her books!

Really great!
Kasie west knows what she's doing and she does it well! I loved the live interests in the book. At first zu was a bit frustrated that I didnt know who Heath was, but even before we know who Heath is for sure, I knew who I was emrooting for. An amazing novel, a sweet couple, and still pretty light hearted despite Hadley's family issues. Clean book. 5 stars!

Love it!
I love all Kasie West books. Each one has its own theme and underlying story to its main character, but they all have in common a heart at the core. She has a gift of writing strong characters with real issues and a sweet relationship to help round out the plot line. Each book gets better and better. Can’t wait for the next one.

A pleasure to read
What a pleasure this book was. I will certainly be reading more Kasie West books after this delightful one. An inventive story with the mystery of someone showing up at all kinds of events with a mask of a movie character who took on challenges. The fact that Hadley was a swimmer, as I was in my youth, added to my love of the story. Add in an older brother who died of cancer before she was born and some interesting friends along the way, what is not to like in this most enjoyable book. Highly recommended.

Really, Really Cute
Really, really cute, young adult, growing up story. The characters were fun with clear personalities. They showed growth and increasing self awareness that was satisfying as a reader. I loved that the hard things seemed real and reasonable. I believed it. This is a sweet story. My teenage daughter is a fan of this author and I can see why.Content: kissing

Quaint and lovely.
Actual rating 3.5 stars.‘Moment of Truth’ is a lovely fast read rom-com that let me escape for a weekend from Kasie West. I was really sucked into the narrative and related to the underappreciated and overlooked protagonist Hadley Moore.Still I miss the quirky characters and hijinks from the earlier novels she wrote in this genre, but nonetheless ‘Moment of Truth’ is addictive in its saccrine goodness. The mystery of who is the Heath Hall impersonator is a good one, but I sleuthed out the mystery very early on, so the reveal was lost on me… which left the climax somewhat deflated.I’m starting to view Kasie West’s titles as pallet cleansers now, something to read in-between heavy, more interesting books; which is not what I want to happen. Her titles have been up and down in my ratings, but averaging a decline. I hope she taps into something new and ups the complexity in her writings otherwise I can see myself becoming bored with her future releases. I’m crossing my fingers. I have a feeling she was suffering a bit of a writing hump and has finally come out the other end.I think I liked Hadley as a protagonist so much because she represents a lot of what I was like in high school. Focused, single-minded, and somewhat cut-off from the rest of the social scene in sacrifice for achieving her goals. Given this intense focus and limited interaction with her peers, Hadley could have been a boring, flat character, but we get to see her passion, her internal turmoil, and confusion when her goals are challenged. It was a great read. The Heath Hall mystery was fun, but a little trite, and I liked Hadley’s need to expose the perpetrator as a revenge tactic other than just curiosity.I wasn’t too sold on the romance, it felt supplementary to Hadely’s challenge of standing up to her parents and breaking the cycle of being overlooked and the compulsive behaviour from the loss of her older brother.Kasie West’s writing style is effortless to read. You can zoom across the page and get enveloped the world she creates, and the pacing – thanks to the Heath Hall mystery drives the narrative efficiently.I’d recommend this for those who love light contemporary romances, though definitely more for the younger end of the YA demographic.
