I'm a little concerned about the way this shackle works. Most of them have a self-tightening noose that you put the knot through. This one doesn't and relies on the plastic collar to choke the knot. Theoretically it's just got to keep the loop small enough to prevent the knot from slipping through, but it just "feels" wrong. However, I've used this twice now and haven't had any problems. It's obviously a stronger design in terms of the rope itself, with no splices and one continuous piece. It also probably wears a little better because you don't have rope sliding inside of other rope.I've seem the conventional ones slip off as well, so time will tell, but so far so good. I still plan to watch that collar like a hawk though :)

Did not buy for off-road recovery, more utility applications. First use recently, helped pull a broken down truck a short distance to a better location. This soft shackle is fast to use and very versatile. So easy to connect a 3"tow strap loop to the tree saver strap. A 3/4" steel shackle barely fits the big strap loop, forget getting another loop in it! I can see many possibilities for this Bubba rope shackle. A little pricey for what you get-wonder what manufacture costs are.Update: Original purchase/review March 2021, new review late Sept. 2021; Have used this soft shackle a few times now, liked enough to buy a second one! Much lighter and easier than a 3/4" D-ring steel shackle and more versatile (can easily fit 2-3 strap loops, depending on size). Need to watch for sharp edges that may cause cuts, but will only use steel as last resort now

Looks like they will work well. Expected and wanted the green ones but I received the red ones. I’m okay with it since they will be in a recovery bag most of the time. Red is still high visibility so no big deal. Will revisit review once I test them out.

As my headline states "3/8 is the largest diameter that will fit through a 7/8 mounting hole", at least with the poly slip ring. I took a wild guess when I ordered and found the slip ring just barely fits through a 7/8" shackle mount hole. All good, quality fit appearance.

I'm one of the few that actually get to use recovery gear in the regular. These are excellent. Easy to use and high quality. Would buy more or again

This works really well. Helps with lack of shackles or solid hook points.

Genuine BubbaRope

These are far simpler, lighter and easier to carry than their counterparts. Both work well, but these have the edge when it comes to space and weight considerations on a ATV, etc.
