A must have for any old flashlight.
These dorcy led replacement bulbs are a fantastic way to breath new life into your old flashlight! Probably not as high tech or bright as some of the pricer optikns out there, but these are a great equivalent bulb that will most likely still be brighter than any old incandescent style bulb. Like the pure white light and since its led it will make batterys last way longer. Highly recommended cheap upgrade! Works well in 3 cell maglites!

Plug and play LED bulb for old 6V Flashlights
Works in an old fashioned 6V flashlight without modification. Just replace the old bulb and turn it on. It's brighter than non-LED bulbs, but not a lot. It does not turn the flashlight into a super spotlight. Other more expensive products might be brighter. The upside of not being super bright is that it probably uses very little power so the 6V battery should last a long, long time. The only improvement I might suggest is a broader LED beam angle. Almost all of the light is very narrowly focused. One of the purposes of a larger 6V light is to illuminate broader areas. The narrow beam angle defeats this purpose.

Does well in 6V flashlight
In a 4 D cell flashlight, it throws out very bright beam for good distance. And being somewhere around a 120mA bulb, should be kind to the batteries. Those having problems with this bulb providing enough light are probably using it with 2 or 3 cell flashlight in my opinion. Those commenting that say they have 4 cell flashlights seem generally pretty happy, as am I. My only criticism is that there is a round shadow in the middle of the beam. And the flashlight can no longer focus beam, though it had that ability with krypton bulb. But even if not perfect, for the money it gives a good strong beam of light and batteries should last well. This is just an old flashlight I resurrected for infrequent use. Better than the cheapo plastic LED flashlights where the batteries last longer than the flashlight.... An update. After bit tinkering finally got my flashlight adjusted to do away with the round shadow in middle of beam. Hadnt used the flashlight for so long, I'd forgot some of its secrets. It gives nice strong beam, goes completely across my yard and into woods. Around eighty feet or so. Plenty bright for my needs. Though sure it depends on the particular flashlight and the quality of its reflector, yadda, yadda, yadda.... But if you have a favorite old 6V incandescent flashlight using PR style bulb, I'd say give this a try. The cheap plastic LED flashlights for sure dont hold up and for most part arent repairable. This bulb used in a good incandescent flashlight might. And no vulnerable non-replaceable external LED circuit boards to deal with.

Bright idea bringing value back to older camp gear
This bulb working good on last camp trip. Replaced an old burned out incandescent bulb. This bulb was a little shorter than the original so the bottom tab in the bulb socket needed to be pried up a little bit. Be careful and use a needle nose to grab the tab! Bright light indeed!

A smallish, very small power draw LED bulb used with multiple D cells for a very long ON time...... NOT bright at ALL...
Perfect little bulb for what I wanted. A smallish, very small power draw LED bulb used with multiple D cells for a very long ON time (but dim) emergency bulb. Sounds extreme but anyone needing at least a bit of light for a long time (good for the safe room, or tornado room in the basement - especially if trapped in there) using nice big fully charged quality D cells, would appreciate these. Way better than no light at all! Allows you to at least find your way around the room if in a camping lantern type of fixture. You are not going to read using this unless inches away. If you want a bunch of light to flame around like the torch flashlights, this is for SURE not it!!! Just a few candlepower, but safer than an oil lamp or candles, no toxic or obnoxious vapors, and will go a long time on D's. Anyone who says this was fairly bright has NO experience with powerful Cree LED torch lights. Nice white light, dim, but a power miser. If this is what you need, this is FINE! I have no regret buying this for what I intended it to do.

long-lasting flashlight bulb upgrade, not so bright.
What it is: 40 lumen LED bulb for Dorcy flashlight/lanterns Note: 40 lumen; a similar LED for Mag-Lites gives 140 lumens, brighter than a filament light bulb, and longer battery life; the Dorcy LED is less than one third as bright as typical flashlight replacement LEDs. I've compared this bulb to a mini-maglite with LED; the mini-mag is much more bright. The LED bulb is dimmer than the original, but battery life is incredible. The bulb is made so the lantern can still make use of the variable focus reflector, mostly.

Great option if needed
This is a non polar led bulb; most bulbs have the negative on the edge and positive on the tip. Unfortunately my lantern was wired opposite to this and other led bulbs didn't work due to the polarity mis match; this worked great. Bulb emits a rather cool white light and the intensity is good for a battery powered lantern. Just installed so no idea about longevity.

Disappointed
Really disappointed with these bulbs. We bought two of them for two flashlights that have the 6 volt square battery. And, yes, the description says that these bulbs are intended for any 4.5 to 6 volt flashlight. So, that should not be a problem. The first thing that I noticed is that the light pattern is about 12 inches in diameter at about 15 feet. There was a dim amount of splash over light around that, but not much. In essence, the light just doesn't fan out. Then, while I was installing the second bulb, I left the first flashlight on. It began to blink. It went off for perhaps 4 or 5 seconds and then came back on for perhaps 10 seconds. The light pattern for the second flashlight was even smaller than the first. It didn't even have a round light pattern on the wall; it was more football shaped. The color of the light pattern on the wall was even a different color. One was more daylight, while the other tended to be a little more bluish. I don't know how so many found these as good. Our experience is that these are useless bulbs and a significant downgrade.

Excellent produit

Great product
Great product by Dorcy and great shipping by Amazon. This bulb works in all regular flashlights that take 3-4 alkaline cells, including the little emergency flashlights that are sold almost everywhere, it comes with batteries and has no screws holding it together. It can easily be opened by prying apart and the bulb and batteries replaced (4 AA cells). Check [...] or [...] or http://www.amazon.com/Garrity-Disposable-Life-Lite-Flashlight/dp/B0007N20JY This LED bulb will allow the batteries to last up to 15 times longer than if you were using a regular incandescent bulb. Light quality is better as well as light dispersion. Thank you Amazon for the pricing and the uberfast delivery.

Renovate and extend the life of a cheap torch
This just replaced an existing dim incandescent bulb in a torch with failing batteries (4 x AA = 6v). The lamp is now very bright on the same batteries. This is normal with LED bulbs. I have read reviews that say the lamp is dim and I expect that this is because fewer batteries (cells), which add up to a lower voltage, are used. Anyway, this one is decent quality, fitted easily and arrived promptly. I expect it to outlive me with its 10 year active life. LED is certainly the way to go, I think.
