Does it have a strong odor?

Yes, it has a smell, but so do Advantage and other topical flea meds. They are chemicals.  If someone invented a fragrance-free product, I'm sure they would charge twice as much for it. i don't think it's a bad or particularly strong smell. If I had a choice, I would rather it have an orange or cinnamon smell, but this is perfume-y. It doesn't smell medicinal to me. I get frequent migraines and this smell doesn't trigger me. It doesn't last long, it goes away when the residual wetness dries (within a couple of hours), it does not mat or discolor their fur, and it does not irritate the skin. The tubes are easier to open and to empty completely with one hand while you are holding onto your cat with the other. The cats just walk away afterward, while with Advantage they would immediately run and hide as though it was hurting them. I put it on 10 cats every 2 months, and when I open the tube, they don't start squinting their eyes and crouching and ducking their heads like they always did when they would see or smell the Advantage. I can do everybody in less than an hour.  I also like the fact that one size fits all (mine are between 6 and 21 pounds) instead of having to buy separate ones for under and over 9 pounds. I think the smell also might help keep the cats from bothering the area and accidentally swallowing it. Whatever you think of the smell, Cheristin is absolutely better than Advantage. In my opinion it is worth any temporary smell and the higher cost.

will this work on bigger cats?

I have a 30 pound cat and it surprisingly worked! 🙂 I did notice it took about 2 days to fully take affect though.

Does it matter how much your cat weighs?

Instructions say use on kittens 8 weeks and older, and to only use one treatment on cats weighing over 20 lbs. I've used this for years on older cats weighing 12-21 lbs, with great success.

Question 4

Several of the flea meds, like Frontline, have counterfeits. Is there any way to identify that this is indeed the real product and not a counterfeit?

I have bought this about four times from Amazon but this last time when I put in on my cat, the next day it had burned his fur, and he's been scratching sores all over his body. I have been wondering if it's possibly a counterfeit.  I bought fake lavender angel,soft on Amazon.
