Black wires are already tied together inside module. One black wire (ground/ return) goes to input, second black wire goes to output/ load. Have a blessed day!

Can the 2 negatives share a common ground?

This goes in the line. You will have a positive and negative going to your load. You cut the wires and hook the positive and negative from your power sorce to ine in-side and the positive and negative coming out go to the load. Simple.
