Pentel Super Hi-Polymer Lead Refill (0.5mm), Fine, 2B, 36 Pieces of Lead (C505BP32B-K6)

I don't know much about the artsy world of lead and their hardness/darkness, but I definitely wanted something that would write darker and still be a pencil. I think 2B is a good hardness if you want to get darker writing but not have a completely weak stick of lead. At first, when I switched from HB to 2B, I couldn't tell the difference between which lead was writing what. I started to get a little frustrated, actually. Then I switched back to HB, and there was a world of difference. 2B is so much smoother (no crusty scratching noise on the paper), and the darker lead writes a bolder (if only slightly) line -- something I don't like personally, so I will probably go down to 0.3mm lead with 2B. When writing on front/back of papers, it does leave a heavier imprint on the previous page because of the darker lead, so be wary of that if you like spiral-bound notebooks and write on the back of the paper. All in all, this is amazing lead. It is definitely worth the price, and I will continue to purchase 2B over HB lead, even if that means hunting it down to purchase online.

Years of experience have taught me that in the long run PENTEL products are the best quality and most economical mechanical pencils, lead refills, and erasers available and perform as expected. These refills are for the 2B lead refills which are darker than the normal lead refill and work great when applying patterns while woodworking. The darker lead is easier to see and helps keeps cut’s exactly where desired. The 2B is softer so care is needed when using because it will break easier.

Perfect thin led. Helps when fitting all your finals notes on one 3x5 index card. Easily erasable.

Good lead, it’s easy to use and you don’t need a hard grip on pencil to get good pigment. It’s pretty versatile for writing and coloring/shading. Comfortable to use. Very portable in a very nice little case. The only reason I said 4 stars is because there are cheaper options out there.

I'm an owner of the Pentel Graph Gear 1000 .5mm automatic pencil, which I also bought here on Amazon, and I must say, I like 2B lead! As an engineering/math student, I use my pencil A LOT. I have to go through pages upon pages of writing. With HB lead, I found that my hand got tired more often, or that the lead was too light for me to notice. I don't press too heavily on my pencils, so it was becoming a problem. The lead was too hard. With 2B lead, my handwriting instantly became a little smoother. There is less friction holding back the lead from the paper, so it's more pen-like than if I had HB lead. The lines become a little darker, and therefore my handwriting is more legible - to others AND to me. Before you buy this lead, however, please note that you should probably determine what lead hardness is right for you. 2H would be better if you pressed on your pencils harder, for example. In my case, 2B was perfect, since I press very lightly with pencils. I'm too used to pens. On a final note, I want to say that if you're used to the feel of a pen, the glide, the darker lines, etc, this lead is a better choice for you. PROS: - smoother handwriting - more pen-like gliding going on - darker lines - greater amount of writing (hands don't tire as easily) CONS: - lead will break slightly more than HB lead (only when retracted a little too much)

I like the larger lead-sized mechanical pencils. These are perfect for note-making and other daily needs. I use them in short mechanical pencils. They can also be used for simple diagrams and sketches... Or even on the golf course. I have had good performance from these leads.

It is an excellent product. I have been using the pencil leads for years. The price is competitive and the delivery was fast. I will continue to order.

The leads are good but the amount is not worth the price, specifically if you're an artist and use pencil alot

Me sorprendió que hubiera este tipo de puntillas para portaminas por lo que me decidí a probarlas, llegaron antes de lo esperado en excelentes condiciones. Con estas puntillas experimentaras precisión y suavidad al generar los tonos que deseas en tus dibujos. Te las recomiendo!

Estan bien

Convenient. Saves trips to the sharpener, though these help break eye lock from screen continuous use. Bold enough. Saves graphite. Not as sharp as wood pencil can be, so not quite as legible, but have glued a strip of wet/dry sandpaper to the edge of my desk, and a couple of twirls gives a fine point when needed.
