The Avengers Assemble Paperback – April 3, 2012

It was AWESOME but not like The movie their was no aliens. I never got a chance to see the hulk movie so it was great to know more about the scientist with severe anger issues

Bought this book to read to my son at bedtime. He likes all the "superhero" movies that are coming out (we have not seen them all), so I thought this would be a good addition. The book was not bad, but I thought it was poorly organized for a book geared towards a younger audience. The book jumps all over the place, and is hard to follow at times. I personally was not really knowledgable about Thor's back story (nor my son) and this book threw small "snippets" in between chapters, that became very confusing and hard to follow. It's attempt to introduce the characters of the Avengers, and how they became part of S.H.E.I.L.D. was incomplete. If you have no knowledge of how these characters individually evolved, this book does not do a good job of providing their back stories (which I admit, thought it would based on previous reviews I read before buying).I recommend reading the individual books for the Avenger characters, to learn their background before reading this book. It should make this book less confusing and easier to follow.

There were no reviews of this book before I downloaded it. I was hoping it would be the whole book but all it was was a rehashing of all the movies and how the characters came to be Avengers. It does lead into the movie rather well. I learned how Thor returns to Earth/Midgard, but I already knew that from other sources. If you are looking for the movie in novel form, this is not it. But it was still entertaining.

I would recommend this book to anyone who limes action and so on for people that do not like action guess the book is not for you

This book should be moved to the "free" section. It is junior high level writing and reading level. There is no talent shown in this writing. No real insight into the characters themselves, beyond a few sentence attempts here or there - just a summary look at how each character came to be. The majority of the book is the fore mentioned summary of how each character came to be, and as far as relating to the movie, when it finally reaches that point, it only covers up to Loki's capture and imprisonment on the heli carrier (in as few words as possible. While I claim this to be middle school quality, I will note that my 6th grade middle schooler was disappointed with the book.

When I received this book I was very disappointed. No-where I looked in the product description was it made clear that this book was written for young readers (I'd say this is a 3rd or 4th grade level.)If your child is a fan of the Avengers movie or the films of the related Marvel heroes this might be a good purchase to encourage reading (books, not graphic novels.)That said, I have some issues with the story provided here. Most chapters are incredibly simplified recaps of the preceding Marvel films but not all details are not consistent with the films. Also Clint Barton (aka Hawkeye) does not have any chapters in this book. In fact I could only find passing mention of this character.Definitely disappointed.

Let me start out by saying that this was well written for what it was. I did not realize that it was a Junior novelization (my fault) and so I was disappointed because it wasn't a novelization of the movie. However, as a recap, or as an intro for those people who haven't seen the other movies (Iron Man 1 & 2, Captain America: The First Avenger, The Incredible Hulk, and Thor), it was a good introduction, and did end up leading into the movie towards the end. By no means did it give an account of the Avengers movie, but it was a good lead-in, and having read it before I saw the movie, I was able to get a little bit of the scope before I saw the movie.I would recommend buying this only if you haven't seen any of the movies yet, if you want a basic recap of the characters' origins and recruitments, or if you read everything Avengers you can get your hands on.
