A good book but Judo and Jiu Jitsu people worn't learn anything new.
I bought this out of interest as I train in Brazilian jiu Jitsu and have some background in Judo and Aikido too. This book starts, as most Chinese martial arts etxt books do, with long winded expositions of how great the authors are. It also provides some historical background and, as always in Chinese martial arts textbooks, it claims to be the source of all superficially similar arts in other Asian nations. The techniques are interesting but there is nothing that will be new to a Judo or Jiu Jitsu practitioner. The ground fighting section was of particular interest to me but is quite basic to a BJJ person and some of the positions shown will leave one wide open to easy counters if they are tried on an experieinced grappler. Several of the throws and takedowns will not work on a wrestler or BJJ person as they are shown with a step forward from the rear leg instead of a shoot in off the front leg. Easy to see them coming, the attacker is too far out. A simple sprawl will thwart most attacks done this way. Overall, it's an enjoyable book and for those training in a grappling art, will provide some ideas about slightly different applications of techniques they will already know. It certainly made me check out some fast wrestling videos on YouTube - well worth investigating!

Excellent addition to previous skills and knowledge!
Only positive feelings I have got. I do exercising with Wusu Sanda. And this book fits perfect for wrestling/grappling Wushu Sanda needs. Book contains many techniques that works not only on the mats (sport) but also for self-defense purposes. I have been attended couple of Wushu Sanda seminars and all the takedown, wrestling techniques in those seminars just one by one corresponds to techniques given in this book. I suggest to have it and especially to those guys who does training in such a sport like Wushu Sanda.!Concerning drills for individual exercising given in this book. There are not so many of them just basic ones moreover all of them are suitable for training and gives very good outcomes in application of these techniques. So, this book is very good, actually, I would say even excellent addition to skills and knowledge gained in Wushu Sanda trainings.Pictures are very well and explanations, comments are clear. If something is not unclear just take Your time and read over again. I suggest this book very much!

An interesting and informative book on the art of San Shou Kuai Jiao techniques.
As someone who is well into their senior years, has trained in numerous martial and combat arts, (Judo, Jujitsu, Karate-Do, Boxing, Tai Chi, Qigong, Combatives and many weapon systems), over the last 7 plus decades, when I saw this interesting 188 page soft cover book,(Chinese Fast wrestling for fighting: The art of San Shou Kuai Jiao: throws, take downs and ground fighting by Liang, Shou-Yu and Tai D. Ngo), on Amazon I purchased it.Having earned black belt ranks in Judo and Jujitsu I found the approach in this book somewhat interesting and unique because the throws and take downs are focused primarily on street self-defense application of the throws and takedowns. In this Chinese San Shou Kuai Jiao fighting system their focus is on using the throws and takedowns against grabs, kicks and punches. The purpose is to damage your attacker. This informative book is organized 8 chapters covering “general information, basic training, basic training with equipment, holding legs throws, over the back/holding the waist throws, leg hooking throws, other throwing methods and ground fighting/controlling techniques.” There are numerous black and white photos showing the techniques, but they are not very clear. It is only because of my decades of training in the martial arts that I was able to understand most of the techniques shown in this book.Even though this book is aimed for those studying the Chinese martial arts; nevertheless, the information and techniques are focused on self-defense which any martial artist, no matter what system you practice, can benefit from learning.I will emphasize one vital point that I always stress even in my own books. The most effective learning method when studying any martial art or any system of self-defense is hands-on training under a competent instructor of that system. That combined with books make for a perfect learning experience. This is a good reference text of this Chinese grappling fighting system.Rating: 4 Stars. Joseph J. Truncale (Author: Pro-Systems Combatives Vol. 1,2).

For Wrestlers and Grappling Artists
Anyone with a background in Judo, jujitsu or wrestling will recognize many of these techniques and appreciate studying the variations presented. I agree with other reviewers that some techniques are not practical against a larger, stronger or skilled opponent. One disadvantage with grappling arts is that a technique can literally tie you up with one person. Nevertheless, there are several moves demonstrated in this book that can be applied and/or modified to off-balance and "direct" one opponent quickly into others.

A Wonderful Book On A Subject That Deserves Much Praise
I'm going to self-study my favorite moves from this art, but I definitely would pay to practice with others in my area. That's how impressive this art is. Most of the time I stop at self-study to focus my few finances to living expenses or self-education or good deeds.

The book that kills the myth about TCMA has no take downs, throws or ground fighting..
Great book with a very old tradition explained. Throws, take downs and locks as well as ground fighting plus the history behind it all. 4000 years of Chinese wrestling history here.
