Renew Life Extra Care Digestive Probiotic 50 Billion CFU

UDATED 11/11/13: I am now on my 3rd jar of this probiotic, it's been over 2 months and I have had one, tiny cold that lasted about 3 days. My husband has been cold-free as well. Interestingly, he has the Herpes Simplex virus and is over 50 so his oral cold sores were becoming frequent and more severe, almost moving from one attack to another. He hasn't had a single cold sore since we started this probiotic. My sister has also been sickness free, although the first week she took it, she was exhausted and slept alot (some people say this is common if you have a very depleted system?). She is 40 and has been constipated since she was 8. Since starting this, she is, for the first time in her life, going every single day. I cannot tell you what a relief it is to not have a constant head cold. I am so, so grateful to have found this product. ORIGINAL REVIEW: First, I wanted to mention that this product contains no gluten, wheat, soy, dairy, eggs, shellfish, tree nuts, or artificial ingredients. I had to mention that since my sister has a terrible soy allergy, and I couldn't find that information before I ordered this for myself. Now if you want to know how this product has helped me, read on... This purchase had really been a last ditch effort on my part to getting better. For the last 3 years or so I have had more and more colds, increasing in severity and duration. To the point that in the last 8 months, I have had no less than 12 major colds (i.e. they last a MINIMUM of two weeks, my nasal passages get completely stopped up and I just feel miserable). I would get 3-5 days inbetween colds where I felt decent (never fully recovering), and then I'd get another. I've been documenting when I get a cold, what I eat, changing what I eat, etc, etc, etc, on and on. Interestingly, they did seem to get much worse and much more frequent after I had 2 rounds of antibiotics (major flora killer). I feel that I have tried pretty much most holistic remedies out there. I did carrot juicing every morning for about two months. Very little change (perhaps a little less severity in one of the 3 colds I got during those two months). The last thing I tried was grass-fed gelatin. It didn't seem to improve my immunity (getting another cold a week after I started taking 2 Tbsp a day), but I did get completely and totally constipated. Oh joy. A week ago I mentioned to a friend that I had finally given up. I am going to just be sick, that's my lot and have to enjoy those 3-5 days inbetween colds ALOT. 2 months ago, I read about the small intenstine flora. It seemed like I was a person whose flora was in bad shape, so I looked into trying probiotics. But what I found was: too bad for you, there is no way to get probiotics past the stomach acid. So I put that on the shelf of 'good ideas, but won't work'. That said, I'm not sure how I stumbled upon this product, because I certainly wasn't looking for it. But I hoped and prayed - Surely this many people can't be wrong? So I ordered it. I took the first pill at 6:30 pm, my husband laughing that I took note of the time. Surely it wouldn't work so fast I needed to time it? By the way, that day I was starting down the path of getting another cold (and the first day of these colds is bad and now, predictable). So I settled in for another night of getting a cold: chicken soup, box of kleenex, hot tea. Within half an hour, I felt a tiny bit better, but surely that couldn't be the probiotic? I went to bed at 8pm, which has become my custom these last 8 months - I can never get enough sleep. I woke up at 2:30am and my nose was clear! I felt rested! I WANTED to do things -- cook, eat, go running, for pete's sake! I felt GOOD! Right now, I appear to be cold free. WHAT?! YEAH, I'M SO EXCITED! Rest assured, I will update on how things continue. I'm not sure if it this is a miracle drug for everyone - but it has been a miracle drug for me, and one I've been praying for. My husband is now taking it (he gets about 1 out of the 3 colds I do), and my sister (whose health is similar to mine). I will definitely update on how this goes for all three of us.

We bought this specifically to make vegan yogurt and it was PERFECT! We emptied two capsules into a can of Coconut milk and it was tangy and delicious, almost like sour cream, and made perfect yogurt with some vanilla and honey. It's usually so expensive and difficult to find a vegan yogurt that isn't made with tree nuts or oats, so making our own has saved us so many headaches.

If i could give this probiotic 100 stars, I would! I am not a paid reviewer and I don't normally write reviews but this is truly one of the best products I've ever used. I have struggled for months with near-constant thrush (the oral version of a yeast infection- disgusting and extremely uncomfortable!) as a result of illness and none of the typical anti-fungal medicines or probiotics were working for me. I finally found this product suggested on a thrush information site (suggested to be used along with another product called Candida Cleanse which I also highly recommend). After some research into these products, I ordered them with overnight delivery. Within a week, my severe thrush was completely gone! I was amazed!! Now, whenever I feel the first signs of thrush coming on or I have to take antibiotics, I take them with this probiotic and I haven't had thrush (or a vaginal yeast infection, sorry for the TMI!) since that last one almost a year ago! Even if thrush is not your concern, this is still the best probiotic on the market by far! Most probiotics have 2-3 different strains of bacteria..ultimate flora has 12 and the difference in results is unbelievable. There are very few products that I believe in enough to recommend to others but I recommend Ultimate Flora to everyone who mentions any kind of digestive problems or sensitivity to antibiotics because I truly believe it to be the best on the market AND everyone I've recommended it to has been amazed by the results! From pregnancy-related and other digestive issues to food sensitivities (not food ALLERGIES! This is NOT for treating food allergies!!) to thrush, this is honestly miraculous. It may be a bit pricier than other probiotics on the market but, trust me, it's worth every penny!! I can't praise this product highly enough! I encourage you to try this product-you will NOT be disappointed. PS you may experience some gas for the first few days but (in my experience) it almost always goes away within 3-4 days!

I've tried several different brands of probiotics over the years, and even though this one is on the pricey side, it's worth every penny. I have suffered from digestive issues for about ten years now, possibly longer, and while other brands did a decent job of combating those issues, their efficacy seemed to be rather inconsistent. Because of the price, I was hesitant to pay for something that I figured was the same as the similarly priced one I had been using prior to this, but I'm so glad I decided to try it! How do I know it's (probably) the best on the market? I am very prone to bacterial infections, and have been my entire life. Unlike most people, my immune system often needs the help of antibiotics, as a simple sinus infection can easily turn into something far worse that requires hospitalization. Unfortunately, for all the good the medications do, they wreak havoc on my digestion, without fail, as well as lead to mouth sores so painful it even hurt to eat chicken soup. In the time I've been taking Renew Life Ultimate Flora Extra Care, I've had the displeasure of needing antibiotics, but the one thing I haven't had to deal with is mouth ulcers. Yes, the medication still causes digestive issues, but they don't seem to come on as quickly as they used to (it used to happen within two doses of antibiotics, now it's more toward the end of the prescription length), and I don't have to stop eating my favorite foods, or be nearly forced onto a soft food diet. I am not exaggerating when I say that it's a relief to know I can get well, AND eat whatever I want. Some of the negative reviews say this product is a waste of money, and they didn't notice a difference in their digestion, or that it actually CAUSED them upset. This may very well be true, because everyone is different. Those who say it doesn't work probably never needed it to begin with. As for those who said it did more harm than good, it's highly possible the product is too strong for them, or they have an allergy to it. For me, though, I will continue to buy this, because I never thought there would be a time when I didn't have to wonder (ironically speaking) if being sick is actually better than not being able to eat.

I suffer with acid reflux, but got off the purple pill a few years back. I have found these probiotics work very well.

I have been using probiotics for years but still felt like I had problems with lots of gastrointestinal distress. I've never been able to eat beans, or vegetables like cabbage, broccoli, cauliflower, or any type of insoluble fiber without experiencing extreme discomfort and gas. I recently had diverticulitis and was on a round of 2 different very strong antibiotics for 10 days. I read about these probiotics and decided to give them a try. I can't say enough about these. I seriously could notice a difference in less then 3 days. After a week, I was feeling amazing. I take one a day now, and I can eat anything I want. All of those previously mentioned foods do absolutely nothing to me now. I have no adverse affects from anything, and the cramping, pain, and gas is just gone! I feel like I've found a miracle pill, and clearly these are actually making it into my intestinal track and doing a wonderful job. My son who also has tummy issues has started taking them as well. He is feeling considerably better as well, and is not even consistent in taking them on a daily basis. They are a bit spendy, but honestly in the long run a lot cheaper then many others I have used, and you really only need to take one a day, because THESE ONES really work! I keep mine in the refrigerator as I read that is a better place to store them, but will definitely be using these consistently and for a long long time. They are the best thing that has ever happened to my digestion and I just feel soo much healthier now! Just buy them you won't regret it!

I'm taking this primarily to try and treat my Tinea Versicolor ( condition possibly caused by yeast overgrowth). I'm hoping this stuff will rebalance my intestinal bacteria to fight off the overgrowth and get my skin back to it's normal pigment. I just ordered a second bottle, but it's too early to tell if it's working. My gut seems to be in good condition and I feel no negative side effects. I also just bought the female one for my wife since she tried a few of mine and thinks it may have helped with her lactose intolerance. I have already recommended it to some folks based on research and if this this works like I hypothisize, I'll be taking this thing, in one form or another until I kick the bucket. From what I read, there are about 100 Trillion bacteria cells in the gut. This box give a dose equal to 0.05% of that amount. A serving of yogurt may contain, say, 1 million (extremely generous estimate) which would be 0.000001%. My reading tells me you need a does of about 15 billion per to have a real therapeutic maintenance effect and over 25 billion if you are trying to fix something. I'm no doctor so I can't say how much of all that is really true, but I'm convinced enough to buy two $40+ bottles of the stuff, and I don't buy toothpaste without researching. You be the judge. I recommend it for everyone especially if you have some immune system related condition, IBS, maybe even diverticulitis. I don't know, but it's worth a try. Stop spending tons of money on Danon and Chobani yogurt and get probiotics that really work.

A relative recommended these to me after they basically fixed some major gastrointestinal issues (literally docs were talking about needing surgery, then they try these and boom they've been functioning fine for 6 or 8 months provided they take them daily). If you've thought you might benefit from probiotics before but haven't noticed much difference I recommend giving these a try with the 50 bil dose. Most probiotics out there do not contain enough punch to really help the guts that need it the most. These do. I had a little sticker shock the first time I pulled them up, then I thought about the fact that if the doc gave us an rx for something that was an effective treatment we'd end up paying this much (or more!) for the prescription anyway. Plus this way we're not contributing to the rising costs of health care :D And forget about the co-pay to see the doc, possibly another co-pay for a specialist, the hours away from work to get to these appointments... sure our first choice would be to have no need of them but these things look like a better and better deal all the time! Another reason I like having these around is on the (rare) occasion we need antibiotics. Antibiotics are like micro-flora napalm, they don't distinguish between harmful and helpful. One of the reasons people so often get secondary infections on antibiotics is because the antibiotics are not primarily augmenting the body's immune system they are primarily trying to replace it so when the antibiotics run out you are (until your system recovers) without much "infection defense" of any kind. However, since the majority of the immune system is in the digestive tract (where we are very vulnerable to most infections entering as food-borne illness) taking probiotics is a great way to sustain / augment / replenish your immune system in addition to general digestive health. In other words, probiotics are supposed to supplement your immune system's digestive duties so it can concentrate on other infections, knock out potential infections IN the digestive track (for instance e. coli from a chicken contamination that wants to give you the runs), and quickly replenish your system if you have an infection that requires prescription antibiotics. I can vouch from my own experience that probiotics have helped me recover within an hour or two after eating something that was making others who ate with me sick for the next 12-18 hours (and while I take no pleasure in a friend's illness, I must admit it is gratifying at some level to be in better shape after being written off a hogwash naturopathy, and it makes a great time to mention some extra vitamin D for us Michigan office workers isn't a bad idea either...) Update 9 or so months later: My wife is still taking these. Every time she stops because "it's been fine for a while now" lo and behold problems start back up. It's still a lot cheaper than going to the doc and paying for prescriptions, plus it's much more convenient to not have to be mindful of exact restroom locations and distances after any imperfect meal
