Use your imagination
I really enjoy Mr Butcher Dresden Files books. I feel like he’s speaking the story to me and I can picture his descriptions in my head, which for me is the essence of a good writer. I get involved with the story and find myself thinking about it off and on throughout my day.

Got this for for my Dad because I love Jim Butcher and my Dad will not come out of the Dark Ages and download books. Double sigh.

As good as any Mr. Butcher has written
Harry Dresden is the only wizard in the Chicago phone book, and his life is a mess. Living just this short of poverty, he is also frequently attacked by demons, vampires, fallen angels, and all sorts of things that do more than just go "bump" in the night. They are deadly. And sometimes the police are looking for him for him, too.Full of tension, three-dimensional characters, and unexpected humor, "Death Masks" is as good a book featuring Harry Dresden as any.But these are adult books. While the are not chock full of profanity, the occasional blasphemy or "f" bomb puts in an appearance. There is one scene that went on for pages (which I skipped when I realized what was coming) that (to judge from what was written when it was over) was probably X-rated. So, these books aren't for your precocious 10-year-old. This is NOT Harry Potter. But Mr. Butcher is inventive, and in Harry Dresden as those who help him, he has created a believable world in which the reader can escape. And -- certainly -- escaping with a book like this is far better than opioids.
