I've always used these books when performing my own repairs. Specifically, I was tracking down a very tricky wiring problem and the manual and general instructions were very helpful. One very minor thing: the headlights on the 2000 Camry have a little retaining clip that wasn't mentioned in the manual.

Even if you don't intend to do your own work, you owe it to yourself to check with Chilton's to see what's involved. I knew a set of front brakes on my Camry was going to run upwards of $250 at the dealership. But after reviewing the step by step instructions with illustrations, I knew I could do this one myself. Great way to get to know your car better. My only complaint - the book 'construction' isn't great. The paper is a step up from newsprint, and I'm not impressed. All in all, worth the investment; this one paid for itself the first time I used it.

I purchased a used one and it was in excellent shape. Also, the Chilton's manual has excellent coverage for the Camry 1997-2001 repairs. In some areas, it better than DIY Alldata online one and more organized. The cost for Alldata is $12.95 per vehicle per year. I use the Chilton with Alldata and Goggle online to aid me with repairs on vehicles. I feel that the more information you have on a vehicle repair, the easier and successful the outcome.

Book was just what I needed to do minor repairs to my Camry.This will not replace a good mechanic, but it helps to know what you're doing, or the mechanic is doing, before something is worked on in your car. Manual is easy to read and comprehensive.

If you havent worked on cars in awhile and decided your gonna get back into the diy your gonna need more then just this manual, in my opinion it could explain things just a little better, and then the refer to this chapter for something on another chapter, it does help some but it could be better, if you use tutorials like what you see on u tube and the book they work good toghether.

This has been fantastic for the teardown and rebuild of my 97 camry.It gives no-bs instructions, and has clear diagrams and pictures.For as cheap as this is, it should almost be included with every camry :)
