The First Law Trilogy Boxed Set: The Blade Itself, Before They Are Hanged, Last Argument of Kings

The first law trilogy is one of my best reads and every book in the series is good. When the 3rd book ended I wasn't ready to come out of the first law world. I wanted more. So i ended up reading all other novels of this world.

For the kindle version: I got this because it includes the 3 original books of "The First Law" trilogy. This saves a lot of time & money instead of buying the 3 of them separately. The books are quite good, starts of like a regular fantasy story with a quest and all, but gradually evolves to take a tone of its own. I picked up this book after reading the short story by Joe Abercrombie in the Rogues anthology and I it met my expectations. The reason for the 4 stars (instead of 5) is that there is a "Collected Joe Abercrombie" edition for kindle available at just a small extra cost. This includes the trilogy + 3 standalone novels set in the same universe (ie 6 books of the First Law series). Had I noticed this, I personally would have opted for the 6-set to save time, but this 3-in-1 set is not bad by any means.

The box - It is made of solid thick cardboard looks and feels good but it had some tear from the corner as you can see from the pictures nothing major though. Books - Books are in perfect condition zero demage. The covers of all the books have this really nice texture to them which make them feel really primium. And the paper is also good it's like every other novel. Text is of good size so no problem there. Size - Slightly bigger than mass market sized books as i have shown in the pictures compared to my lord of the rings set. Conclusion - if you want to read this series and want a box set just go for it.

I bought this box set and was not at all disappointed. The delivery by Amazon Prime was quick. The package was secure and the box set was covered in a plastic sheet. The books have readable print size and overall great paper and cover quality. The box is made up of slightly flimsy cardboard like most box sets. Buy this box set if you're a fan of the series. This edition is cheaper than buying all three books separately.

Everything is so beautifully packaged, received them in good condition and for the best prize. And got the product within 24 hours( to top it all off) Fanatasy books have been too costly lately and in India we need to get them from other countries with shipping. In my opinion this is a crazy deal...especially for fantasy lovers who couldn’t afford(just like me) Joe Abercrombie is a prominent author in the fantasy genre. And his books are mostly adult fantasy. This is my first instalment from his. One reviewer suggested that GOT fans will absolutely enjoy this book and I’m no exception.

Read it twice. Translated then in its original version. Amazing piece of littérature. Great and so original characters. Better read it than never have heard or it!

Un infaltable si se es aficionado al genero fantástico. En la trilogía de la primera ley acompañamos a Logen Nine-Fingers, el hombre mas temido en el norte, en su viaje a travez del Circulo del Mundo. A Sand dan Glokta, quien busca la verdad de una conspiracion en contra del rey mismo. A Bayaz, el primero de los Magi, lleno de mentiras y sin duda el personaje mas despreciable de la saga. A Ferro Maljin y su profundo odio hacia los Gurkos. Y a Jezal dan Luthar, quien sin duda es el mas afortunado del grupo.

Bought this for my kids and they loved it :-)

A truly brilliand and thougoly interesting story. If you like dark and gritty stories where no character is the hero and everyone is characterised by their flaws, their past, and the weight of their choices, this story is a must read!
