Amazon Basics Flea and Tick Topical Treatment and Prevention for Large Dogs (45-88 lbs), Fast Acting and Long Lasting, Tick Prevention, 6 Count, Packaging May Vary

Very significant difference after using this product. So I have 4 pups and fleas were out of control. I gave them one application of this a couple days after a bath, and while it helped, I didn’t see a lot of improvement first off, I brush them every other day and was still catching several fleas every time, after waiting the period it says I applied it again, and after a couple days I am virtually catching no fleas at all in my brush. It does work great just keep in mind it may take a few weeks if you have a bad flea problem going on.

Works just as well as name brand. We have used this on 3 labs and 2 german shepherds for years with no issues, no skin irritation, no adverse reactions. I am cautious of ingredients as one of my shepherds has epilepsy and can’t have certain flea and tick prevention, but this has worked great for her too. It won’t keep ticks from getting into their coat (that’s what spray is for) but it will ensure that they don’t stay on your dog which is super important for preventing diseases like lyme which take about 24 hours of the tick being attached to transfer. It prevents fleas perfectly. Definitely need scissors to open them, I think they are supposed to be tear off but I can’t tear the plastic.

If I could leave a negative star I would. I used this on my 3 dogs. The next day my youngest ( allmost 2) had a seizure. She was completely fine before never had any issues. Luckily she is okay after going to the vet and them running test and blood work over $200 to find out that this product is the cause. Now my other 2 are ok but they are still scratching so not only could this have killed my dog that's my service animal it was not effective on the fleas at all. Med is usually the strongest the first week. But it has only been 5 days and they seem to be scratching more. My other dog is 13 Luckily she is ok or this would have been a bigger issue. I will never buy or trust Amazon basics with anything for my pets ever again. I went threw the reviews it has killed 2 dogs and caused another to have a seizure. I trust the 4 out of 5 stars it had when I bought it and didn't read the reviews till after her seizure. Never again. I will tell everyone I know to never buy amazon basic brand products so this doesn't happen to any one I know. This should never have happened. I know to avoid cheap brand flea med but trusted amazon cause it wasn't super cheap and should have been ok. Coming out of the seizure she didn't know us and tried to bite us and she has never shown any aggression towards us ever. She is a friendly dog she was just scared. Once she came out of it she just wanted me to hold her cause she was scared. And that's just sad for everyone involved.

Worked on some didn't work on others. Guess it's not the product fault. Those fleas are getting immune to everything

This works great - just as good as any of the high priced brands. I live in a wooded area with loads of ticks. After every walk I find tons of ticks on my 3 dogs - after applying this, we’ve seen none. I have 3 large dogs (55-65 lb each) and they all tolerate it very well. They’ve had no side effects like itching or hair loss. I’m also not very good at applying it monthly but I still don’t see any ticks even after 6-8 weeks. I can’t speak to the flea aspect because I’ve not had any issues with fleas on my dogs before. I recommend trying it before spending much more on the brand name versions.

this flea medication works! a few things to note that i’ve seen in the reviews and it doesn’t seem like people do too much research - not to be abrasive but don’t miss out on a good product because people don’t read. this product is easy to use, effective, and provides protection from all life stages of fleas when used continuously. 1. your dog is still itching after you apply the medication because they have flea bites. they will continue to itch for a few days or weeks until the bites are gone. you can use a oatmeal or anti itch shampoo to help. itching doesn’t necessarily mean continuing biting. 2. you need to get it on to their skin and follow the directions which includes continuing in a line down their back from collar to beginning of tail. 3. if you have an active infestation you should couple this product with a oral medication. it is safe to mix most oral and topical preventatives/treatments. you also need to wash their bedding and vacuum. you can treat these items with diatomaceous earth - put it on bedding or carpet and then vacuum it up. if you don’t feel like doing this just throw the stuff away. you also need to empty your vacuum canister in a bag and take it to the garbage for best results. you should also bathe your dog, it is acceptable to do this with dawn dish soap which is especially effective for fleas. 4. fleas have a life cycle so if you are struggling with an infestation you probably need to repeat the above directions in #3 every week for about 6 weeks in order to kill the fleas. you should readminister an oral medication once a week as well that kills adult fleas. 5. yes dogs die from preventative flea medication. they also die from tapeworms that they get from fleas and fleas are miserable and pesky. it is a cost benefit analysis. dogs die from all sorts of flea medication, generic, oral, topical, or collars. it is a possibility that is listed in the information on this preventative - people don’t think it’ll be their dog. one of my dogs gets seizures from oral flea medication which is why we practice prevention from everyone else in the house and we have her on topical only. 6. this is a generic version of a brand name product. it is the same dosage and ingredients as frontline. the big makers of pet medications have spent billions of dollars in advertising and litigation to make generic pet medications difficult to find and utilize. this is worth a try and it’s a great value for the price.

Not impressed with effectiveness!

OK, here’s the crazy thing. I have two rescue dogs. They have been on a pill that takes care of fleas, ticks, and heartworm. I noticed that on my Australian Shepherd dog he was getting these bumps around his body that turned into scabs when he got bit by a tick. Yes, the tick would fall off, but he had scabs all over sometimes the scabs would get infected and become a little bit larger. I decided to switch them to a topical and it was going with the Amazon brand as I was going to do a little comparison. It has been a year, and my dog has not a single scab or visible ticks on him. I highly recommend this. Especially if your dog is a little sensitive to the pill form Of the trio.
