Scholastic Reader Level 1: Please Write Back!

Our family fell in love with a different Alfie book which is what led us to purchase this. This book is very much a level one reader as each page has one sentence. The book is about him waiting and waiting for his grandma to reply back to his letter. It’s actually a little Chemical. I wish they would make more Alfie books

Easy story to read, and my grandson loved to follow along with the words. The storyline is cute but not sure if the little ones may become confused with writing a letter and putting a stamp on the envelope when so many are seeing parents using computers/email as source of communication. I think Alfie the Alligator will become another favorite in stories, second to Pete the Cat of course! The words are easy for beginner readers to sound out, and many are already recognized so he could read along with me. Worth adding to your library.

My granddaughter is entering kindergarten in the fall. In preparation this was one of the books I bought for her to help her learn to read. She has been doing sight words for months now and this was a perfect fit for her for the next step. She loved the book. It was very simple and not intimidating for a beginner. Reading this book and being able to complete it gave her great confidence

Fun story for an emerging reader. They feel accomplished and successful. The story is enjoyable and the story and phonetic pattern allows for the child to want to repeat the story independently and build their skills of fluency.

My 6 year old loves this book. Easy to read and build confidence. Awesome illustrations. We read the book and talk about the emotions. Short and sweet for Kinder level.

My three year old granddaughter has this one and May I Please Have a Cookie memorized. Great illustrations as well. Alfie is adorable.

This can be a companion to the book May I Please have a Cookie? They are a great set. I read the first one to my little grandson and then found Please Write Back. The first one makes us laugh every time and this one is like the icing on a cake. It is made special because of the first one. Buy them as a set and leave a little time before you surprise your little one with the second. They are fun to read for the reader and the child. Cute story for early readers. We read books from this Level 1 series to our three year old. It's a good introduction to reading, we can point out specific words (the font is nice and big) and she loves the easy to understand sentences and stories, I appreciate that they are usually quick reads :)

Easy to read for early readers. Good for learning to read. But most importantly very entertaining and highly motivating. My 5yo son loved this one.
