A wonderful book
Ogam The Celtic Oracle Of The Trees, is one of those books that you will refer to again and again. a great deal of effort went into writing this book and i can truthfully say i was impressed with the Authors writing style and his investigative approach in presenting the information about the history of the Ogam as clearly as possible. This is a bare bones book and i was so pleased to see that within the first few pages he writes in a very straightforward manner about said history. There is not a great deal of unneeded information to wade through and his honest writing style is pleasingly refreshing and easy to connect with. The book itself is truly one of the most informative i have read thus far , and i was pleased to see that within its pages were very detailed descriptions and historical information about each individual Ogam . the back contains sample layouts for the student to use and he provides beautifully written examples of how each ogam relates to energies we encounter in daily life. As i am an artist and make and design Ogam staves i was very pleased to offer this book as a primer and guide to clients ordering my work . they have since related their feelings regarding this book and all were positive .

Good
I found this book to be better written and easier to read (by that I mean that it didn't bore me mindless) than another book on the Ogham I've read recently. I feel this book is better suited to a beginner than the other one, too. The explanations are clear and interesting. Some sample spreads are given toward the end of the book, but as the author says, you could just as easily use a method from a form of divination you already know well, like tarot, and it should work for you.The author mentions magical uses of the Ogham, but actually never tells you how that can be done anywhere.

Incorrect information
Several of the Oghams in this book do not match the common symbols. Very confusing for those new to Ogham. The information presented throughout is dry and difficult to read. Not at all what I'd hoped.

All-inclusive book
Explains the history, lore, characters, uses, etc. of the Ogam. I haven't put the book down since it arrived. Can't wait to use the instructions to make my own set of Ogam, consecrate, & use - it's all in the book!

A great place to Start
Before I came to this book, I had a developing interest in the identification and folklore of trees. This led me towards the spiritual and magical powers of trees. From this interest I discovered the Ogham script and its use as a divination tool. I was keen to find out more about a divination system that related to trees and came accross this book in my local library. I now own a copy and would not be with out it! The book gives a brief history of Oghams and associated celtic folklore/mythology. It Then Lists each of the 20 Oghams in turn and gives you information about the tree the ogham represents, keywords for divination, a more detailed commentaary on the meaning of this Ogham and also details of the folklore/mythology of that tree. The last section of the book describes how Oghams can be used in divination. It gives examples of the types of spread that you can use (from simple 4 Ogham spread to more complex 13 Ogham spread). I made my own set of Ogham after reading this book and have used them for divination on a number of occassions. This book is indespensible for those of you, like me, who are just starting out on the journey of discovery with Oghams, or for those who have a casual interest in the meaning of Oghams or different systems of divination.I find myself constantly returning to this excellant book to refresh my memory and as a learning aid.

Meh
I have the rune book by the same author and love it. But this one I found really hard to follow. Very boring and ling winded.

Worrying error in the introduction
The book as a whole looks good but I was somewhat concerned when reading the introduction that the fews (Ogam representations) for 3 of the first five trees were mixed up. A pretty basic error which should really have been picked up before publication. Wonder what the rest of the book holds?
