Good for hydroponics
I wanted a 2-pack so that I could put one in my office and one at home for measuring nutrients for hydroponic gardening. These are simple, good quality meters with a backlight. They are pre-calibrated and reasonably accurate. For hydroponics, "reasonably accurate" is good enough -- I don't need precision to measure nutrient levels for plants. For those looking for super-accurate measurements for, say, drinking water, it probably makes sense to invest in a more expensive model. That is not my expectation for a TDS meter in this price range. One note - each of the meters comes with a leather sleeve. Considering the meter is enclosed in hard plastic, I don't think the leather sleeve serves any real purpose. I realize it probably increases the cost by only a cent or two, but it's a waste of resources and a burden on the environment. They should get rid of it.

Great TDS meter kit works great
This TDS and PH meter set. They are very accurate so I sent this kit to my cousin in Costa Rica, he is more confident now, how to keep his water this is what this set do to help you: Digital TDS meter has measurement range 0-9999ppm and ±2% accuracy, TDS meter can also test the liquid temperature in Fahrenheit or degree celsius. PH meter has measurement range 0.00- 14.00PH, 0.01PH accuracy and 0.01PH resolution. This product does exactly what it’s supposed to do. It will accurately test your water and in my country will help my family to be more careful with the water they drink, so they can treat the faucet water before they drinking. Great item an excellent value and quality.

Works as advertised, but . . .
As the product measures Total Dissolved Solids by temperature compensated resistance, it is not a good instrument for determining hardness when a water softener is used. As a softener replaces Ca++ (as CaCO3) with Na++ and they are both conductive in water, it will not be a good indicator of hardness. The reading is NOT technically inaccurate though, as NaCl is also a dissolved solid. Ease of use is very good and the display is easily understood, it is a good product, even with the aforementioned caveat.

Fast, easy, and reliable
I like several things about this product. It comes in a pack of two, which is nice because that way you can test their reliability by seeing whether they give you exactly the same measurements. They do! I also like how easy it is to use them. Just push the on button, put it in water up to 2 inches deep, and see the readout. I installed a new RO system just two days ago, and I used the TDS meters to test the water coming out of the new system (18 ppm), the water coming out of the old system (13 ppm), the water coming out of the tap (254 ppm), and the water coming out of the refrigerator (87, post RO, but also after the refrigerator's own carbon filter). This is all very good stuff to know.

Excellent product. value for $$$
Update after a month - Already broke even and saved even more the cost of this unit. The routine filter replacement for the RO filter would have costed me $90. The filter company mentioned that I don’t have to replace the filter until I see the water has about 40ppm. Tested the water this morning and it still shows 4 ppm and I don’t have to change the filter yet. I've a RO water filtration for drinking and the TDS meter was recommended by the company who does my filter replacement. There are a ton of different options on Amazon. I also have a pool and thought 2 for the price of 1 is a good offer. Received the meter in excellent packing condition and put it to test right away. Battery is installed right out of the box and pressing the ON button turns it on. Tested the tap water and that showed 130ppm and turning the display red. Then I tested the RO water and that showed 4ppm with a green display. Exact same reading seen on the much expensive meter 2 days ago. The pouch is an added benefit and fits snugly. Will be using the other meter exclusively for the pool water. Happy with this purchase. Will update periodically on how it holds as I'll have a need to use it atleast once a month.

They take forever to finally get to the final read
These guys read and change slow as smoke. All of my previous units, that were testing the exact same things being tested here, made jumps of .1 / .3 / .5 depending on how far the base read was from the actual. These are 1 tick at a time. so if your room temp is 75.0 and your tank temp is 83.7 the water in some container you can just drop this in and walk away from will cool before these guys make that .1 tick to the temp every second or so. I believe it's most likely .1 per half second but if ur standing there watching and waiting for the number.. it feels like slow motion lol.. They are spot on accurate and they are give a banana to a monkey simple to use. UNLESS you have had a couple of other models before this one. They are exact opposite on what was mode change and what was the ON/OFF. Not an issue but it can mess with you if you happen to fall into a habit without hope of breaking it... That's kind of where I live lol. I've been using the digi readers for 3 years - even if they are still working fine (you don't really know that they are unless you test them against another source) I recommend that you replace these AT THE LEAST every 8 months for aquarium use.

The best method of testing for water hardness is electronic instrumentation.
We use these excellent water hardness testers to measure water hardness at RV parks where we stay to decide if we need to hook up our portable water softener. We keep one in the water hookup bay and one inside near the kitchen faucet to evaluate when our softener needs to have us implement a softener regeneration procedure. We used to use the test strips to measure hardness but they often wouldn’t work because they had absorbed moisture from the air and produced inaccurate readings. These are quality instruments, Produc a result in less than 30 seconds and they come in nice leather or leather-like cases to protect them. I highly recommend these and they will pay for themselves in approximately one year of not having to buy test strips.

Competent meter for the price.
These are competent little pocket EC/ppm meters also with temperature. I use them when mixing up fertilizer solution for plants so I don't need high levels of precision . These come with little cases and batteries were included. The display is easier to read than other cheap pen meters I have used. I bought these because I had a third cheap pen type EC meter that seemed to be giving inconsistent readings that I wanted to double check. If I take all three meter and put them in the same solution, none of them read the same but they are all within about 5% of each other. These are not lab quality by any means but they fit the bill for me.
