Q: Can it fit a 500ml standard size water bottle in the outside compartment?

Not a all. The outside compartment is pretty tight. You could fit the water bottle inside, but it would take all the space.

Q: What are the dimensions of this bag?

It’s about 4 1/2 x 7 inches. Very small, I treated it as wallet or use it for walking instead of the big purse.

Q: Will the front pocket accomadate a pair of sun glasses?

I think so. I keep my phone in the front pocket (Galaxy Light) I tried a pair of regular glasses and they fit fine.

Q: Will a iPhone 7 plus with a otter box defender case on it fit in the inside zipper area, with no strain on the closed zipper?

My iPhone 6 with otter case fits in the outside pocket on the back. It also fits in the zipper section with about an inch of room at top. Don't know how much bigger your phone is. Hope that helps.
