I started to explain the wiring but because there are so many possibilities my review got overly long. It is much easier to look at the drawing of the circuit than to explain every connection. DPDT On Off On Functions like two separate SPDT switches operated by the same actuator. In the middle OFF position there are zero contact connections. I then contacted the manufacturer and I got a reply very quickly. They were very apologetic and immediately sent out another order of switches which included the weatherproof caps. I used the switches for my project and they worked like a charm. I soldered wires directly to the terminals without any problems, the switches did not melt as stated in other reviews. Maybe the other users applied too much heat for too long a time. Soldering takes practice and the wire and connection must be clean or the solder won't flow properly. You can also use soldering paste or flux to help make the solder flow properly.
