Teen Titans: The Complete Series [Blu-ray]

Teen Titans All Together
When I saw the description of this, I thought I was just buying all five seasons but when I opened it up and saw the movie I was overjoyed. I have read comic books and watched the movies and shows based on comics, but for the longest time, I have often turned away from the Teen Titans. I have always despised how comic book writers have depicted children and teenagers as these angsty beings that are supposed to be how they expect themselves to be if they had great gifts and powers at their age. The Teen Titans comics were no different and did not gain me as a fan.But I do appreciate greatly the animated series of several great heroes like Superman, Batman, and Justice League. Having just finished these shows I had managed to catch a poster of this show and saw a drawing of Robin, Batman’s ward in the fight against crime in Gotham City. Thinking this was a spinoff from the Batman Animated Series I decided to watch this. I was wrong in it being a spinoff but, in the end, it did not matter, I was hooked. While not a spinoff, I treated it like one. Robin, the Boy Wonder of Gotham City has come out of his mentor Batman’s shadow. Moving from the gothic corner of Gotham City to the bright sunny shores of Jump City alongside several powerful beings. Starfire, a bright and charming alien teenager who fights in her new home with exuberance and joy as well as a ferocious loyalty to her new friends. Cyborg, the oldest of the group who as his code name clearly states is half man/ half machine with incredible abilities as well as a big brother to his fellow friends. Raven, a young and mysterious girl with mystical powers that tempers with a sardonic sense of humor. Finally, Beast Boy, the youngest of the group with the ability to morph into any animal from the zoo to the prehistoric, but all that pales against an irritating sense of humor. These youngsters combined are the Teen Titans, Jump City’s defenders against the criminal element. From stopping your typical lowlifes to the ferocious of villains, the Teen Titans also enjoy life as the teenagers they are. From looking for the remote control, deciding what to eat for dinner. Combat practice, to enjoying a night at the carnival. It felt wonderful watching these young kids being, you know… ACTUAL KIDS!Yes, kids grow up, but they grow up slowly and steadily. Learning as well as enjoying life at their age. But at the same time getting to use their abilities for good just like adults can. Eventually, I read the comics, but in the end, I think the show is LOADS better. I am so glad this is finally out on Blu-Ray as it covers every single episode including the movie.Season one begins with the team’s first encounter with the HIVE Academy, to Starfire’s encounter with her wicked sister Blackfire, Thunder and Lightning, Cyborg’s encounter with another cyborg, fighting Dr. Light, Raven and Starfire switching places, meeting Aqualad, Mad Mod’s kidnapping of the Teen Titans, Cyborg’s new car to the epic confrontation against Slade. It is all here.Beast Boy is so dorky but adorably funny at times, with his animal transformations being clever and uniquely suited. Cyborg is the super cool jock who maintains his humanity despite being a part robot. Raven’s sense of humor is dry but so suited as well as the mysterious and at times downright terrifying powers she uses. Starfire is wonderfully girlie and sweet but also courageous and loyal. Robin truly is in his element, moving on from his time as Batman’s protégé to be his own man, even if he is still a teenager.Season two begins with the team learning the importance of friendship thanks to Starfire, to dealing with an alien dog and underappreciating Beast Boy, supervillains with their daughters, to Tamaranean adolescence, and a set of mysterious Tournaments. But the centerpiece of the season is the meeting of a mysterious new girl named Terra that leads to love, betrayal, and redemption.I got to say I have read the Teen Titans story Judas Contract and have seen it adapted before, but this was so much better a story than the original. Beast Boy hurt worse than all the Titans because he had fallen in love with Terra. Raven had her suspicions but could not prove it as well Cyborg, Starfire, and Robin doing what they can to stop her and her master Slade in a climactic battle. Truly phenomenal.Season three begins with the team taking on a resurgent HIVE lead by a new leader and his fixation with cybernetic enhancement, with Cyborg being his main obsession. But as the Titans deal with HIVE they also journey to space as well as encounter old enemies some serious and some funny. Others find the darker versions of themselves as well as making some new friends.Season four has the Titans together taking on the same old foes but in new adventures but the driving point of this season is someone from Raven’s past as well as their own. While they deal with time travel, aliens, romantic troubles, fabled monsters, and more.Having read the Teen Titans Terror of Trigon and its adaptation, I admit that this one was superb. Getting to see a grounded version of Raven’s beginnings as well as seeing the might of her diabolical father Trigon unleashed. It was well done how the Titans fought back to save their friend and the whole world in a grand three-episode finale.Season five has the Titans getting to know more about their beloved friend Beast Boy from his former superhero teammates The Doom Patrol. This leads to a season angle that sets the Team to take on a dangerous enemy known as the Brotherhood of Evil. All the while the Titans rally to bring every young-blooded superhero and get them onboard. From old friends to new friends. All of it leading to a grand confrontation that should have been the end. My advice: Do not watch the last episode, it is a slap in the face.Trouble in Tokyo in my mind is the true final episode as the Teen Titans come together for one last fight against a foe that apparently attacked them back home and must journey to the Land of the Rising Sun to find out more. A nice ending that brings two Titans happily ever after as well as a fun vacation for the rest of the Team.So great to finally have this on Blu-ray, seeing as it was filmed back when DVD’s were available only. I bought the first season and waited patiently for the second season because the picture is wonderful. Instead, I waited for the entire show and it was well worth the wait. I was not entirely into the special features but with such a great theme song, it was cool seeing how it was made. Other features on the following seasons were not that great but they were nice. I did not like the comics and had no real interest in seeing a special feature on the comics' original Teen Titans or New Teen Titans. But this show is superior to the comic and am glad that it was made and released in all its glory.Great to finally have it all. Thank you, Warner Bros!

Great marathoning times
Got this for my boyfriend's b-day & he LOVES it, as do I!!! Great marathoning times!!! AWESOME CHARACTERS, ARTWORK, ETC.!!!My only complaints are:*they ended at Season 5 with no final wrap upT_T*the continuing of Teen Titans is Teen Titans Go (shivers; WHY?!?!)IF YOU'RE A PARENT & HAVE TO CHOOSE BETWEEN GREAT CULTURE & COMPLETE GARBAGE THEN I'D RECOMMEND TEEN TITANS (NOT TEEN TITANS GO UNLESS YOU WANT JERKY KIDS WITH NO CONSIDERATION OF OTHERS!!!)Best way to show between the 2:*There's a character called Cyborg who's literally around 90% machine & 10% human. In order to take down a school for villains, they decided the best way to take it down was to have someone go undercover to school there. Cyborg invents a ring that allows him to look completely human due to what human features he has left. (I barely recognized him at all!) So Cyborg has the ring on & is checkin' himself in the mirror going, "Oh, yeah~" & flexing his muscles & what-not when he notices his co-worker, Starfire, in his room. Embarrassed, he asks how long she's been standing there. She replies not long & continues saying she thinks his new form is pretty cool, but that she prefers the "original version". He replies, "This is the original version." THE FEELS!!!!!!!!!!!*(I've only seen 1 ep. of Go, but 1 is just enough to justify not watching any further.) There's an episode where the main 5 superhero characters are in a dodge ball tournament. They only have 1 more team to defeat: actual "villains" (like from the villain school) who PLAY BY THE RULES TO GET TO WHERE THEY ARE & THEY ARE THE VILLAINS(?!). Anyhow, the "superheros" see how great their team is because they are beating them. Instead of being good sports, they decide to CHEAT. & they DO. & they WIN. But there needs to be a moral lesson right?! HA, I laugh at you! The bad guys find out they cheated & confront them & they go, "So? YOU'RE the bad guys, we're the good guys, we can arrest you any time we want!" AFTER SAYING THIS, OTHER GOOD GUYS (special police?) TAKE THE BAD GUYS AWAY & THE SO-CALLED "SUPERHEROS" PARTY FOR THEIR "VICTORY". I KID YOU NOT, WHO WOULD DO THIS?!?!...Ahem, anyhow, JUST TEEN TITANS PLEASE!!!

Great Show for Kids!
Product:Product arrived in perfect condition and worked being played on an Xbox. Discs are also in great condition and haven't experienced any technical or product issues.Show:The show is great for those who have nostalgia for it or want to get young teens to watch it. There are some episodes about character growth and lesson learning, but most episodes are comedy with action. The plot is a little too light with many episodes being filler of some kind, but they are still enjoyable because the artists and writers make the filler episodes fun and get creative with it. If you want a show that can make your kids laugh that isn't too mind numbing, I'd definitely recommend this.
