Bell Revolution MIPS Bike Helmet

This bike helmet was great and worth the money. My son is very picky and particular about how things feel and we regularly have to return things due to this. He loved this from the moment he put it on and better yet, he loved it the next day too. He is a nine year old with an average size head and he definitely can grow another few years in this due to the adjustable fit. Great buy!

Seems like a great choice for a bicycling helmet that can get away with being worn on a road bike, mountain bike or fitness/recreational bike. The helmet strap is fixed in the helmet (won't shift) but it has enough adjustment points without being too complicated. The ratcheting part that goes the circumference of the head has minute adjustment so it's not too tight or too loose. The helmet is comfortable wearing around the house. This isn't a fancy helmet and the price reflects it. I paid $30 after tax in July 2022. So don't expect a high quality looking shell. Bell is a reputable, long standing brand of safety helmet. I trust Bell 10x more than any unknown foreign brand helmet. It's great this helmet is also designed and assembled in the USA. For me, some craftsmanship in the USA is far better than the alternative when it comes to safety products. I truly wish that the USA would go back to wanting name brand products instead of these janky "private label" made overseas products but that's a gripe that doesn't fully apply here. If you need a helmet that meets MIPS and CPSC certification for competing in a triathlon, this seems like a great helmet to meet your needs if cost is of concern. I have not yet worn this helmet on the bike, I just received it yesterday. So I can't say how comfortable it is while riding, but it seems like it'll be great. I tried putting on my cycling glasses with the rear view mirror clipped on the rim and there wasn't any interference like my previous Schwinn helmet. I also can't say how well it functions in a crash, and I hope I can never weigh in on that, either. But, I feel comfortable with this helmet at this price point due to the reputable brand that manufacturers it. Good luck and happy pedaling!

I have a head on the larger side. The helmet barely fits me on the largest headband adjustment. The plastic overlay on top of the helmet will not last in the summer sun. I leave my bike under a somewhat shaded porch during the day and the plastic top is starting to peel off of the foam. The strap also barely fits and is very uncomfortable to wear for a long period if not adjusted *just right.* This helmet is fine for a basic helmet, but is not nearly as comfortable or well fitting as a more expensive one from the high-end bike brands like Specialized and Bontrager. If you're looking for a helmet for daily riding, I suggest you spend a little more.

Unfortunately, I crashed at a fairly high speed while wearing this helmet and went down head-first. I walked away from the crash and into an ambulance with no concussion, no brain or skull injuries, and no spinal injuries. (I did break a few face bones, but I suspect that was from my glasses getting pushed into my face as I hit the ground; I also had some scrapes and cuts on the parts of my face the helmet didn't cover. There's not much this style of bike helmet can do about that.) I will probably purchase a full-face helmet after I heal up instead of replacing it with another of the same, but that's not a condemnation of the quality-- it did exactly what it was designed to do. I like this one! ..not too showy and has MIPS. My other two (now retired) were good a decade ago.

Bell is a long established helmet maker. This one includes MIPS which is an additional safety feature for certain types of accidents. Well worth the slight additional cost. It is somewhat adjustable ( vs non-adjustable ) for a better fit. Very happy with my purchase.
