Great book!
Carlos Fuentes loves living on the edge. But because of his unfortunate ties to a Mexican gang, while living in Mexico with his mother and younger brother, he finds himself in trouble, so his mom and uncle ship him to Colorado to live with his older brother Alex. Alex is living in a small dorm room, so he makes arrangements for Carlos to live with one of his professors and his family. Carlos carries a lot of attitude and resents having to be sent to live with Alex. When the professor's daughter, Kiara, is assigned to show him around at school, Carlos is puzzled at his interest in a girl that is not his normal type. As the title says, the Rules Of Attraction doesn't play by the rules and sparks fly! When danger shows back up in his life, Carlos tries to find a way out. Help comes from unexpected sources, but can he prevent the danger from going after the family he becomes at home with and from going after his own family back in Mexico! Angst, danger, suspense and unexpected love! Great second book to this series!

YA at its finest!
This is book two in the Perfect Chemistry series. This book follows Carlos Fuentes. You met him in the first book in the series. He is the brother of Alex Fuentes. This is a great young adult series.Carlos moves to Colorado after getting into trouble in Mexico, where he lived with his mom. His brother Alex sets him up to live with his former professor to help get his act together. This is where he meets Kiara. Kiara is the opposite of Carlos. Can being so different really lead to love? You’ll have to read this young adult love story to find out but hold on to your seats because lots of drama takes place throughout the whole book.I have really enjoyed this series so far and this author. I want to continue reading the series and I am excited to hear that more books have been added to this series. If you love the young adult and new adult genres you will defiantly like this series and this author. 4 stars!

A really great book............
I took my time reading this book, unlike I did with the first one; I still read it over a span of 24 hours though :) I must say that I enjoyed this book much more than I did the first one. Honestly I really think it was because the whole Mexican gang theme really wasn't there in this book. This book made me laugh out loud, I felt excited and happy, and I really felt the love that Carlos and Kiara had. I totally enjoyed Kiara's best friend Tucker that guy was HILARIOUS and the author had really great timing with his dialog! I really appreciated how the author portrayed Kiara's parents. Many times we see characters parents being closed minded and, well like how Brittany and Alex's parents were in the first book. I know a lot of parents are like that but it was refreshing to see parents who trust their children and children who trust their parents. And I really liked Kiara's little brother, he was really funny at times and he made the book a bit happier. I definitely connected more to Carlos and Kiara, and I really felt their love, experienced it as it blossomed, and I got that great love feeling when Carlos described his feelings towards Kiara. I did have a small grasp at that feeling when Alex told Carlos of the first time he knew he loved Brittany and now I think I need to go back and read the first book again. I also enjoyed how the author tied in Alex and Brittany so we were able to see how their relationship was developing two years after the first book took place. Once again we have an epilogue that some didn't enjoy, I enjoyed it a lot. I have liked these book's epilogues because it gives us a small glance into the characters futures. When we feel really attached to characters in books, we always think about how their lives would be years from when the books end; and it's nice to have a glimpse into that with these. I would really love to see not only the author possibly expand on the epilogue, but to possibly expand on Kiara's little brother when he is a teenager and definitely would love to see a book dedicated to Tucker. I purchased this as an eBook for my Kindle app for my iPhone and computer.

Might be better than Perfect Chemistry
4 1/2 to 5 stars - In Rules of Attraction, Alex's little brother, Carlos, is sent from Mexico by their mom live with his brother, Alex, one of the main characters from the first book in the series, Perfect Chemistry, in Colorado where Alex is going to college. As with Alex, it's because Carlos is involved with a gang in Mexico, this one's called Guerreros del barrio. Carlos is less than happy with having to move in with Alex in his small apartment, with Alex's girlfriend, Brittany and with his new peer guide, Kiara Westford.Even though everyone thinks Carlos has left trouble behind, it finds him pretty quickly and he gets in trouble during his first week at school. To avoid being sent to a youth home, one of Alex's professors who has dealth with troubled kids before, offers to take Carlos in. Unfortunately, the professor happens to be Kiara's dad. So now, Carlos has to live with a white family that actually has a family night, rules he's expected to follow and he has to deal with Kiara, too. There were similarities between this book and Perfect Chemistry: a hot Fuentes brother with an attitude and a shady past, a rich white girl who's pretty much a goody two shoes and a situtation that arises which causes them to get to know each other and realize there's more to the other than meets the eye. However, I wasn't constantly thinking that this was a carbon copy of Perfect Chemistry. Kiara's family is close and they all love each other a lot. Her parents are actual characters in the book and not just mostly absent ones, as is the case in a lot of YA books. I liked Carlos as much as I liked Alex in the first book. His situation is different than Alex's because he's forced into the crap that he gets into and realizes he needs to get out of it, he's just not sure how. And I loved Kiara. She's tough, smart, funny and, while he does intimidate her some, she doesn't put up with Carlos' crap. I also loved her best friend, Tuck; he was loyal and freaking hysterical. He always tried to push Carlos' buttons and it usually worked.I didn't think I'd like Rules of Attraction as much as Perfect Chemistry, but I think I may have actually liked it a little more, because Kiara was such a great female character and I liked the dynamic of her family. I'd definitely recommend this book.

The item came in perfect condition and safely packaged
Item description:The item came in perfect condition and safely packaged. The quality of the hardcover was strong and protected the book nicely. The paper inside is thick and good quality. The writing size and font is easy to read and overall the item is really good.Story rating:Rules of Attraction was a good story that I enjoyed reading but I didn't think Carlos and Kiara had the crazy chemistry that Alex and Brittany did. So the romance wasn't as satisfying and electric. But overall the story was a good read that I enjoyed a lot. 4 stars

a YA contemporary romance, with quite a slow-to-love couple
(Source: Purchased on kindle from Amazon.co.uk for £2.49)Carlos is moving from Mexico to Colorado to live with his brother, and finish high school. He's got no time for a girlfriend, or any sort of complication to his life, and getting arrested for drug dealing is the last thing he wanted.Intent on not revealing the name of the kid who planted the drugs on him, Carlos ends up living with professor Westford and his family, whose daughter Kiara seems to be getting slowly under his skin.Carlos isn't boyfriend material though, he just wants a girl to screw around with, doesn't he?This is the second book in the `Chemistry' series, but can be read as a stand-alone novel (I haven't read the first one.)I liked this story, but for me it took a long time for the romance to kick in.Carlos is a pretty rough male lead, he's obviously lived in some not-nice places, and although his mother has done her best, he's not had the best of starts in life. He was pretty stubborn about not revealing the name of the drug dealer who set him up, even though he wasn't actually anything to do with him, and this probably revealed quite a lot about the things he learned as a teen.Underneath it all, quite a way underneath it all, Carlos was a good person, but in the beginning he was pretty rude to Kiara and her family, and probably didn't deserve the chance they gave him.For me the romance took a long while to build up in this book. At the beginning Carlos was not very nice to Kiara at all, I totally got why she wanted to play a practical joke on him to pay him back for some of his comments. That being said, as they slowly got to know each other a little better, Carlos wasn't quite so mean, but I certainly didn't see why Kiara was falling for him either.Things didn't really heat up between the pair until really late in the story; around the last10-15% of the book in fact, which was a little disappointing, but when they eventually got together things weren't even smooth sailing then.Kiara was an okay character, but while she seemed to have problems with stuttering during stressful moments, she didn't seem to have the same problem when whispering dirty little teases in Carlos' ear, which personally would have made me a little nervous! The ending of the book concerned Carlos and the drug ring he had somehow gotten caught up in, and this was unfortunately the least interesting part of the story for me. I didn't really appreciate the epilogue much either.Overall; a YA contemporary romance, with quite a slow-to-love couple.6.75 out of 10.

Really Enjoyed
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I know it’s a story about young people, written for young people but there’s a romantic innocence about these stories that I can’t stop ready about. I’m a sucker for the bad boy falls for good girl type books. There’s just something about Simone Elkeles characters that are genuine and come to life through her stories. I actually preferred Rules of Attraction to Perfect Chemistry. Carlos was truly a bad boy, and Kiara sincere yet feisty. The relationship between Carlos and Kiara develops slowly and sweetly, I loved their teasing and banter with one another. Carlos relationship with Kiara’s father and brother was so funny yet touching. There are the usual obstacles along the way but this story kept me interested and gripped until the end.

EVERYTHING YOU WANT...
Carlos Fuentes isn't happy about leaving Mexico to start the 'new' life his older brother, Alex, has planned for him. Carlos liked his freedom; living life on the edge and carving out his own path - just like Alex did.Kiera Westford doesn't talk much; preferring instead to shut the world out. And when Carlos bounds into her life she struggles to understand him and his wild ways. Carlos is sure that Kiera thinks she is too good for him, which is just fine because he is not interested anyway, right? But when they finally open up to each other, the connection they feel shocks them both. Can they overcome their fears and realise that sometimes opposites reall DO attract?I love this book! I think it's as good as the first one.'I HAVEN'T KNOWN HER LONG AT ALL, BUT JUST LOOKING AT HER FEELS SO RIGHT. BEING WITH HER FEELS LIKE... HOME.'There were so many romantic and sweet scenes between Carlos and Kiara.I love Carlos! He is a bigger bad-ass than his brother - Alex.' I KNEEL IN FRONT OF MY LOCKER AND READ THE NOTE, WRITTEN ON A TORN PIECE OF NOTEBOOK PAPER - K. THE LADY AT THE STORE SAID YELLOW MEANS FRIENDSHIP AND RED MEANS LOVE. THE ROSARY IS THE ONLY THING I HAVE THAT HAS VALUE TO ME. IT'S YOURS. I'M YOURS.'My heart was melting...'" YOU'RE DANGEROUS,"' HE SAYS.' " WHY?""'" BECAUSE YOU MAKE ME BELIEVE IN THE IMPOSSIBLE"'This book is SO HILARIOUS! I was laughing constantly!'TUCK SETS THE VASE DOWN ON THE WINDOW LEDGE AND SMILES WIDE.'" OH, COME ON. DON'T BE SUCH A GRUMP. I'M HERE TO CHEER YOU UP."" BY BRINGIN' ME PINK FLOWERS?" CARLOS SAYS, GESTURING TO THE VASE." ACTUALLY THE FLOWERS ARE FOR KIARA BECAUSE SHE HAS TO DEAL WITH YOU."I love every character in this book!Oh, and did i tell you there were some REALLY hot stuff going on? This book isn't just romantic and funny, it's smoking hot as well.'" KIARA UNBUTTONS MY PANTS AND REACHES DOWN TO FEEL ME OVER MY SHORTS."'Believe me, this stuff is HOT.Like i told you before, i loved every character in this book. They could be a little bit more described but they were really well developed. Every character had a little part in the story. Like in the first book, we get to see both main characters points of view. I love that. And not only do we get that, but we also get to see what happens next with Brittanys and Alexs relationship. I love them as well, so i was so happy do be able to see how there story continues. As always, the ( nearly) endings are full of action and thrill. I'm always looking forwards to them. The very ending was so hilarious, i was not expecting that and i can't believe it happened.Overall, Rules of attraction is a gripping ride that you can't miss.

Funny, beautiful and perfect
Thank you Simone for writing yet another fantastic story. Rules of Attraction, like Perfect Chemistry had me hooked from the first page. It the kind of story it flows perfectly and you actually forget everything around.Rules of Attraction focuses on Carlos and Kiara. They are both completey opposite of each that. Carlos is a bad boy who doesn't give a crap about anything. However, deep down we all know he does. Kiara is a shy girl and very quiet until she decides it time for a change. So when they both meet, their worlds are turned upside down. And Kiara starts to come out her shell. The attraction between the two of them is clear very early on even though they aren't admitting it. There is a raw connection with them that sucks you into their world and leave you wanting more and more.Aside from Carlos and Kiara, there was a few other characters that I liked but one that was just cute that I couldn't help smiling whenever he appear. Brandon, Kiara's little brother. He was just adorable. And they way Carlos was around Brandon when they were playing just melted my heart.Alex and Brittany are also in this story, However, not as much as it Carlos and Kiaras story. I would have liked to see a bit more of them though. The story line itself was fantastic. It was wonderful, beautiful and I have to say very funny. Rules of Attraction is better than Perfect Chemistry just because Simone has created banter between Carlos and Kiara that just seems effortless. Its Perfect.I now can't wait till Chain Reactions comes out and seeing whats in story for the youngest Fuentes brother.
