The sound of the rattle is under the snake and can barely be heard and some could not hear it at all. However the snake itself is beautiful and definitely a keeper, just disappointed about the rattle as I thought it would help to keep neighborhood cats out of my yard.

When I went to put the batteries in, I found a prominent sticker over the battery well stating: "Keep away from moisture. May cause short circuit." in big red letters.I bought this bc the product description claimed it was a "yard decoration" for "Patios, Lawns and Gardens" and I wanted it to keep squirrels out of a tree in my yard - which happens to be outside. You know, outside - that place that is not climate controlled where there is dew and it rains sometimes.If something is for the yard, lawn, or garden or claims to be "durable for the outdoors" then it needs to be waterproof and this is a *HUGE* failure.The snake scales are not nearly as apparent in IRL as they are in the pictures, so this snake looks like a large shiny cow patty.

Motion detection didn’t work unless I touched sensor with my finger.

We bought two of these for the garden. Little disappointed with the sensor range, which was about two or three feet. After a day or two, the sensor had to be covered to get the sound to Trigger. Was going to try new batteries, but the rattle sound is unconvincing anyway. Still, they look somewhat realistic, and I believe that alone may be doing the trick for some of the critters that come visiting.

It lacked a certain amount of realism. And the worst thing was the almost inaudible rattle. Initially intended to frighten away pesky Birds, they just sat on it and did their business.

...be advised that this item's motion activation is only for producing a rattling sound, i.e. the tail's rattle itself DOES NOT MOVE, which would have been awesome had it been designed to do so. Realistic rattling sound is not too loud as to be annoying, and size is adequate but could have been a little larger for a greater effect (it may be more 'scary' when displayed somewhat higher than at ground level). Still, a good purchase for Halloween or other INDOOR decorative use, I actually rate it at 3 and a half stars.

I thought it had a "Motion Activated Rattler", not "Motion Activated Rattler SOUND" which would have made a big difference. Its cool. Kind of looks like a pile of poop, but once you see the snake its a little scary. Worth the $15 for fun.
