Let me tell you, I’ve looked high and low for this rug that was within my budget and looks nice and THIS IS IT! If you are looking for a sign to buy this rug THIS IS YOUR SIGN!The rug comes folded outside in, which scared me because the outside is grey and I thought I purchased the wrong rug, but it is super soft, a great size, clean, doesn’t have a weird smell, AND ITS LESS THAN $100! GET THIS RUG!Not sure about the cleaning because I don’t walk on it, eat on it, it literally just lays on the floor so I have no response for that, I’ll probably take it to the cleaners!

Note: I wrote this review after owning the rug for six months.While moving into a Brooklyn apartment, I found myself in the market for a rug big enough to make a statement, small enough to compliment a tiny kitchen/shared space, and priced in a way so I wouldn't break the bank. A cowhide immediately came to mind, and after sifting through some options, I landed on this one. It's been six months since I've purchased the rug, and I have nothing but love for it. Mind you, it is relatively tiny. If you're looking for a cowhide to compliment a large living room, this isn't the one. For our tiny kitchen/shared space, it was perfect.CLEANING: This guy gets dirty relatively easy, and unless you're SUPER diligent with cleaning spots as they appear, some stains are bound to stick around. While the instructions stated NOT to throw it in the washer/dryer...I totally did. I washed it as if it were 'colors' and dried as if it was 'delicates.' So far, so good. No issue, unexpected explosions, or lost fur. Came out great and clean.

...then this rug is probably not the one for you. I bought this rug for a few reasons: 1. I couldn't bring myself to buy a real cowhide 2. I wouldn't know the first thing in cleaning a real cowhide when it inevitably got dirty and 3. price. This rug is probably one of the cheaper products out there, and I will admit that it is very soft to walk on albeit not super thick. As far as look, to quote the great Cher from Clueless:, "She's a full-on Monet"–which could be how to describe the pattern on this rug. From far away it looks pretty real, but upon closer inspection, you'll see that the "hair" design is merely just that; a design. If you're looking for something that won't break the bank and gives the look and feel of a cowhide without actually being one, I'd recommend this rug. Otherwise, keep on lookin.

I like this product for the fact it cost far less then a real hide. However the rug arrived folded and the creases would not come out. I contacted the company and I was told the creases would come out in a day or two low heat steam could help. I've had a rug for over a week and the creases are still as they were when I opened the packages. I did not steam as I believe this may damage the rubber backing. I did not rate the cleaning because I do my best not to get it dirty but like most products such as this once cleaned I'm sure it will not look like new. For the money it's an ok deal.
