The reason I enjoyed this book so much is that it addressed an issue in the lesbian community that is so often addressed but Radclyffe didn't give the conflict in the storyline a negative connotation that is so often attached to it.In "Turn Back Time", Wynter, an up-and-coming surgeon, has recently divorced her husband and, along with her child, has relocated to a new hospital. At the new hospital she is reacquainted with Pearce, a fellow female surgeon with whom she shared a brief moment four years earlier. As their working relationship grows so does their attraction.Again, the reason I love this book so much is that when Wynter begins questioning her sexual orientation there isn't the usual conflict of "Oh My God! I might (can't) be gay!" Her attraction for another woman has no negative notions surrounding it, even from the secondary characters in Wynter's life. Yes, they ask the question "has there ever been other attractions to women" but there's never the negative aspect. The issue is handled the way it should be handled, both in literature and in life. There should never be the question of the gender that you love but, instead, a celebration that love is happening - and that's what this book does. Now some may argue that that is not the reality of life. My question would be: Why shouldn't it be? We should always celebrate love that is found, regardless of where or how it is found. A second reason I love this book is that it does address the issue of women dicovering later in life (not as a child or teen) that they have attractions to women. I think all too often in the lesbian community we neglect to give these women their due. It seems we want to focus on the "lesbians for life" characters. Well, women that discover their lesbian attractions later in life need lovin' too!I highly recommend this book. The characters are lovable, funny, and, in true Radclyffe form, strong. Also, it's a Radclyffe book, so the romance is 11 out of 10. Plus, it has the BEST "1st time" scene I've ever read. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ This one will sound familiar *by S***0 on Reviewed in the United States 🇺🇸 on July 12, 2006* If you are a fan of Radclyffe's books, you may find that Turn Back Time seems very familiar. Not only are the characters standard Radclyffe fare, but the plot is very reminiscent of Fated Love.Pearce Rifkin and Wynter Thompson are surgical residents who met years before in a brief encounter. They felt an immediate attraction, but circumstances were against them. Now they find themselves in the same hospital where Pearce is the Chief Surgical Resident and trying to compete with the reputation of her father, a brilliant surgeon. Wynter has fallen behind in her residency due to complications in her personal life and she's determined to catch up and show her skills have not suffered. As can be expected, the two find themselves drawn to each other, but any chance they might have at romance has to compete with their personal situations. Romance isn't what either one planned on, but it may be what they need. When they find their lives are about to be ripped apart again, the question becomes whether or not they can stand up to the forces working around them and find the happiness they see is possible.Turn Back Time and Fated Love have many similarities. Both have two doctors who work together on the same team. Both have one of the doctors have a daughter that the other doctor develops a relationship with. Both have one of the doctors face a life threatening condition. The stories are also dissimilar. In one book both doctors are surgeons and in the other they are both Emergency Room physicians. There is no looming father figure in Fated Love and the danger in that book is a medical condition, where the danger in Turn Back Time comes from an attack. Once you have read one though, you can't read the other without a feeling that you've already been in this story. Turn Back Time seems a little flat. It's not a bad story. It's very expectable and predictable, but a nice read for a long afternoon or evening. I would have given it 3 1/2 stars, but Amazon doesn't allow that. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Another classic Radclyffe story *by J***Y on Reviewed in the United States 🇺🇸 on September 22, 2021* I’m still catching up on all of Radclyffe’s books, I’m probably up to 20 by now, and this one doesn’t disappoint.Wynter and Pearce are strong, sexy and wounded - by divorce and parental neglect and expectation. After an electric but brief encounter 4 years prior, the two women find themselves working together at the same hospital. Sparks fly, passion ensues and Radclyffe brings her usual heat and emotion to the story.
