Ok4 Knife

I purchased this knife after comparing different products and their reviews. Upon receiving it I was thoroughly impressed. Pretty sharp out of the box, a couple passes on my hone and strop and it was good enough to shave. After putting it through its paces with whittling and using it to baton kindling, it's held up really well. Always comfortable in the hand, the handle is a great size and the texturing feels secure. The blade is a good size, the black coating is fairly durable but is wearing off on the spine. As the knife is carbon steel it should be kept dry or it will rust in these exposed areas. The edge retention is good, it sharpens quickly, the point alignment is decent. For the money I'd say this is as good as it gets.

I’ve had the knife for 3 months now to replace one of a similar vein, a Morakniv companion.Hultafors’ option is superior in basically every way.The sheath is pretty standard plastic, but it’s separate from the belt loop, which is great for me due to knife laws where I live. Quick on/off.The knife itself is fantastic, I don’t know how they make them so good at the price point.The handle is comfortable, with a good texture to give you a secure grip. It really never feels like it’ll slip out your hand. The blade itself takes and holds an edge very well, it came sharp but only took 5 minutes on a 1000/6000 grit whetstone to be sharp enough to shave. It held that edge through a solid 4 days of use on a camping trip where I used it pretty much non stop all 4 days.The only flaw, and I use “flaw” VERY lightly, is it’s a touch dented on the spine from being hammered through wood. This isn’t really a flaw of the knife itself, had I used a bit of wood the way I’d usually do it would’ve been fine, but I had a framing hammer to hand and used that instead. The dents are minor and I could really fix them, I just don’t care to.A must buy at a price point that hides the sheer quality and robustness of the knife. For me, expensive blades are for chefs. For an every day fixed blade I want a number of things and this ticks every single box.

Was reasonably sharp when new. There is a manufacturing flaw running along about a third of the spine, but it doesn't seem to affect the usefulness of the blade. The point isn't quite symmetrical but it's close enough.Comfy grip gives confidence but doesn't dampen impacts very well. Blade is tough as nails. It's been punished, used to strike and prise and cut, and it is still sound. I've sharpened the edge keener than it was when received, and it remains flawless so far. Some of the black coating has worn off the bevel on the belly due to friction and, of course, from the edge due to sharpening. I oil it to prevent corrosion.Great for removing bark from wood before splitting with an axe. Can even split wood a few inches in diameter when used with a baton. Works well with a ferro rod (not included).The plastic belt loop on the sheath has a rubbish clasp, but the textile loop is excellent. The friction of the sheathe holds the knife well.

A great, robust, workhorse of a knife. Perfect for abusing in the outdoors - i use mine around camp, and for bushcrafting tasks. The scandi grind is perfect for carving. Makes lovely feathersticks. Comfortable grip, wet or dry. Keeps a decent edge, just a little stropping needed if it starts to dull. Even comes with a ferro rod. Whether you're starting your bushcrafting journey, or just want a knife that you can abuse - this is for you!

I bought this as a replacement for my trusty mora clipper I lost recently.The sheath is a nice friction fit and has a loop for a firesteel which is great addition. It clips onto a belt well and the elastic strap can be removed too if desired.The material on the handle is nice a gripy and pleasent to use and fits well in the hand. The blade is carbon steel and has a tough black coating all over the knife blade this is ground away on the bevel the first time you sharpen it so I see it more as rust prevention on the face and to protect during shipping rather than use. It also has some measurements etched into the coating I'm not sure how useful these are.In comparison to my old mora this knife is much thicker (3mm) and broader (24mm) blade than the clipper which is great. It is not sharp out the box but I wouldn't expect it to be! Having the ability to sharpen and maintain a knife comes with owning a knife.The biggest downside to this knife was the grind this was obviously done quickly at the factory and given the price I understand. Instead of being an even grind from guard to tip the grind tapered towards the tip. This I'm assuming is easy during manufacturing but it makes for a very "blunt" tip which is difficult to sharpen but also strange to use doing any work close to the tip feels off you have to change the angle and that just feels weird to me. I spent about an hour re profiling the edge with a coarse diamond stone to be more consistent as you can see in the pictures and I'm very happy with it.I actually enjoy making this knife my own and improving it. If this is something you want to avoid and use straight out the box then this isn't the knife for you. However as an inexpensive bushcraft knife it's hard to beat. Carbon steel holds a wicked edge and is easy to sharpen this is a fantastic blade for thoes who have never owned or maintained on as well as more experienced outdoors people.

I'm no knife 'expert' but I have used this in several survival situations on the moors already. Will skin and gut a rabbit no problems. It will also cut up smaller pieces of wood or make kindling to start a fire. I personally use a folding 7 inch saw to cut any more substantial pieces of wood but for everything else this hufflator performs more than adequately. Nothing worse than a blunt knife at 3am when stuck on a cold moorland and need it. Thus, I also take a knife sharpener with it. Sharpens up lovely though - real pleasure to cut flesh or wood or whatever really. Feels nice and solid too - I think is some kind of ultra hard rubber, which also makes it pleasing in the palm. Wonderful at the price too. A real keeper. Could also be used to make a spear too or light a fire with a flint. Fantastic

I've had one for close to 3 years now, it is a sturdy reliable knife, it has a thick spine so you can baton, the sheathe has a drain hole at the bottom and has a small tab where you can add a ferrorod. If you are looking for reasonable priced bushcraft knife this is the one for you

This is my favourite knife out all ones I bought so light feels so good in my hands just perfect has rubber handle blades not too big or too small just right in every way comes in plastic sheaf for safety with velcro attachment for clipping to belts an such this is a sharp knife handy for many things cutting, sharpening, diving will fit in a boot like handling nothing can't say if be durable under pressure for things need to do will do job i couldn't stop holding it when got it felt so nice in my hand very pleased

Heard and saw the reviews on this knife and took the plunge.Batoning: able to baton but only can be done to smaller logsFeathering : does a great jobFilleting : Does the job but not the best cutWill recommend for the casual camper who needs a knife to get things done around the campsite .Not your FX-1 or ESEE . But it’s a heck of a workhorse

Someone at Hultafors had the bright idea to marry the GK blade with the HVK handle. I ordered it without actually holding it in my hand. When I received, I was disappointed to see that the handle was exactly like the HVK's. It has the ridged rubber overlay, which I despise. I find rubber leads to lots of hotspots and sore hands. It's also made for small/medium hands.The good, the blade is tough as nails. I like that it's coated, to protect against corrosion. The spine is squared off, so you can use it with a ferro rod.It also didn't have the secondary bevel that the GK does. Is it worth double the price of the GK? In my opinion, no, but it's a decent alternative to the much more expensive Mora Bushcraft Black. If I could do-over, I'd get the OK1. Same blade, much bigger handle with no rubber. If you already have a GK, sharpen away the double bevel & save your money.

Cuchillo excelente, pequeño (9cm de hoja aproximadamente) , el mango es genial, el mejor grip de todos cuchillos que he probado. Espiga oculta que llega a los 2/3 del mango (hasta la A de hultafors) comprobado con imán. Sensación de robustez y consistencia que no Dan otros cuchillos similares (morakniv, baco, etc....) totalmente recomendable para compra , sea uso casual o intensivo. He cortado troncos de 20cm de diámetro con corte transversal para probar y pasa con nota, batoneo limitado por hoja pequeña, pero el cuchillo aguanta. Lo llevo al campo siempre y no te deja tirado. Un pequenajo para ir al infierno y volver con el. Un precio muy ajustado para la calidad recibida. Gracias
