Review: Not pretty or fancy, but 100% does the job. - For the price, you can't go wrong. I had a hard plastic carrier for years because my cat gets carsick and the plastic was easy to hose off, but after 10 years, it's started breaking down on me, so it was time for a new carrier. I was surprised to find an desertcart Basics one, but figured why not give it a shot since it got good reviews. It's a well-constructed bag; I got the large, my cat is a fatty, and I wasn't worried about the straps or anything. The nylon is pliable but strong. The double-straps are a nice touch; carry in your hand or over your shoulder, or remove the shoulder strap if you're not going to use it. There's a firm cardboard piece that goes in the bottom to keep the bag upright; a soft layer velcros on to that that can be removed and machine-washed, and there's plenty of extra room in the bag if you want to wrap towels or anything around the bottom. For my travels, I put the soft layer on, wrapped plastic shopping bags over that (2 standard plastic grocery store bags, one on each end, more than covered the whole piece), then wrapped an old towel over that. I trust the nylon not to absorb fluids, but I figured if she did get carsick, my best bet would be to just put the dirty towel in a bag and wrap the spare around the remaining stuff in there. The carrier has zipper openings at the top and the front, which is great for ease of getting the animals in and out. My cat generally won't walk into a carrier because she knows what the carrier means, but once she's in. she's fine, so being able to just plop her in from the top is nice. There's a leash hook inside, which I did actually use in the car so I could open up the front to give her some space without her flying around the car, and it seemed to work fine, she was able to lay down comfortably with it attached. There's a huge amount of mesh space on this bag, which is great if you have a claustrophobic animal. I think one of the reasons she got carsick in her old carrier was she didn't have much of a view, so she freaked herself out, so she threw up. In this carrier, I was able to open the front for her, and she could see me next to her in the driver's seat without having to peek through a tiny hole, which I think made her more comfortable. I was also able to open the top and stick my hand in to pet her, which was nice. Overall, for the price, you simply cannot beat this bag for trips around town. I admittedly only use a carrier a few times a year, so I don't need a fancy one; if I was taking an animal with me regularly or planning a long road trip, I might invest in something cushier, but for trips to the vet, groomer, or cat-sitter a few times a year, this is more than satisfactory. I don't think she'll ever grown into it, but keep in mind that I have a 10 ounce (she's 3 months old) yorkie puppy. This is a sturdy carrier for my needs, my dog tried to chew the mesh side, but let's face it, what can a tiny little rat dog do to this? Granted, if you have a heavy puppy (I would say anything significantly over 10 pounds) you might want to go for a different one. I don't think she can ever do any real damage to it, so it works in my case. I was initially going to buy the Sherpa pet carrier, but because of the price, I opted for this one. Overall I love it, I bought it specifically for air travel, but now I use it to carry my puppy every time I go on trips, and for her vet visits. Since it runs smaller than the Sherpa, the medium sized carrier fits underneath the seat of an airplane (you have to push it a little bit), so I had no trouble at the airport with this. There's a collar attachment thing in there that I wish I could remove since I really don't use it. My dog doesn't seem to have noticed it, which I'm glad because I don't want her chewing on it. The fleece bottom is detachable which makes it easy to clean, I read comments on how their pet removed it so I usually put a blanket (not that it matters because I know she doesn't have enough strength to remove it). Overall, if you have a toy breed, I would go for this product, it works and you can't really beat the price, especially if you travel a lot since it meets airplane expectations. I've had it for a about a month, so I will update in durability if things change, but overall I think this was a pretty good buy.

**Q: Does the bag stay up? Is there any supports to keep the top up?**
A: I just got it an there are toooooo many supports so it can't go under the seat

**Q: how much weight can a small size carry? i have a 7 lb dachshung puppy**
A: These run small. The largest size is sufficient for short trips for a large cat. Small will be very small.

**Q: What is the actual weight limit?**
A: The ad said weight limit is 17 lbs.  My cat is 16.5 lbs and he just fits in it.  JetBlue airlines has limits on the overall size of the carrier as it must meet their size standards and fit under the seat in front of you. This one fits the bill.

**Q: my cat is 5.5kg (10pounds) Is medium size enough?**
A: It depends how tall your cat is. My cat is about that size (maybe a bit heavier), but I feel that it is a little bit small for her. As far as weight goes,  the carrier can hold up to 20 lbs.

For the price, you can't go wrong. I had a hard plastic carrier for years because my cat gets carsick and the plastic was easy to hose off, but after 10 years, it's started breaking down on me, so it was time for a new carrier. I was surprised to find an Amazon Basics one, but figured why not give it a shot since it got good reviews. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Will Even Handle Possessed Kitten

Excellent *time out" space for evil Devil Kitty in need of a cat excorcist. Whenever I need freedom from scratching, biting, leaping attacks, etc. , I am able to insert him into his carrier and zip it up without hurting either of us . He is satisfied to stay in there with several toys so I can finish my food or chore. I do get the 'Cat Eye" stare, but even this is less threatening due to the sturdy black mesh sides. My Tenzin is a Himalayan suffering from a strong adverse Siamese temperament defect, very handsome and smart. This soft carrier is very durable, attractive, and easy to carry while keeping Tenzin and everyone else safe. It even has a zippered opening on top so he can stick his head out and look around when we are in the car. The carrier can be carried by hand, over the shoulder, and even crossbody using the sturdy attached straps. Love it! Tenzin doesn't love it, but he doesn't hate it and he will sleep in it. He even accidentally went in it once on his own and fell asleep! I'm amazed the price was so reasonable. .one main reason I bought it. Nothing is too good for this spoiled kitty! Update: It has been in use now since last April, and I have learned that I can shake the treat bag and yell "kitty treats" and Tenzin (named in honor of the Dalai Lama) will come from anywhere and proceed to the back of the carrier including tucking his impressive long and furry tail in, as long as I have been careful to sprinkle Friskies treats toward the back. If I'm slow at zipping, I just turn the carrier on it's back end so cat and all slide that way and I get on with zipping. I am such a softie when it comes to this cat that I always use the treats to lure him in because me trying to 'stuff' Tenzin the Terrible into his kitty purse and KEEP him in there long enough to zip it is worthy of a YouTube video. I would post a photo of my hands and arms, but I can hear you saying in horror, "She let him do THAT to her!?" He's getting better, though, and he's very funny sometimes. He rolls the Cat Purse over sometimes, usually only one turn, but earlier this week he managed about three turns so he was under the pad and not happy to be there. I like that the pad is removable so it can be washed, but I also wish it was harder to remove so it would stay off Tenzin's head.
