Crescent Nicholson 12" Half Round Double Cut Bastard Cut - 05090N

What can I say, it's made by a company with a history of making good products.

I bought this because the description (at the time) indicated it was *made* in America. I could have gone down to the big box store and bought a different brand made in Asia, but I spent a little extra to support domestic business. Package came: "Made in Brazil." Lo and behold, the Amazon description has changed now indicating that the *company is headquarted* in America. Not pleased. Description currently indicates that Nicholson is headquarted in Sparks, MD. Package indicates it was mfr'd by the Apex Tool Group, headquarted in Apex, NC.So aside from that, I've only used it once and it worked great. I have mostly Nicholson files in my tool box and they all work very well. I only gave this item 3 stars because of the place of manufacturing.

Nicholson has a well deserved reputation for producing very good files and rasps. This half-round file is a joy to use.

This file really takes off the metal on my lawn mower blades. Cuts down on filing time.

The description says "Nicholson", but the product is actually "Crescent Nicholson" which I believe is rebranding done after the files were no longer made in the USA. The file is now made in Brasil. I really needed a half round file, and Amazon did deliver quickly, so i will keep the file. But i am very disappointed that the Nicholson brand is no longer made in the USA. Also, the price has gone up, not down, even with sourcing from a much lower wage country. Not promising.

I assumed that Nicholson was only made in the USA but made in Brasil is okay also, as long as it's not made in a totalitarian country.The quality seems very good.
