Great cultural read. Brought back memories. Many were spoken by my Great grandmother and grandparents. Puts wisdom into understandable terms

This is a very well-designed and illustrated book of selected proverbs and anecdotes that convey the "flavor" of the Sicilian language. It would be a good gift for someone who is familiar with the Italian language, and who would like to have some insight into the related, but distinctive, Sicilian language. It is the kind of "reference" book that someone can enjoy consulting, just as someone can enjoy "browsing" in a book of well-chosen poems and prose items.

I bought this book for Mom who was born in the little town of Riesi (Caltanissetta). We had a good time making comparisons of sayings from her childhood. However, we would like to know where the lovely photos were taken. Mr. Salamone should have noted the name of the city on each photo page. Thank you Mr. Salamone, for the walk down memory lane!

I bought this book for my Sicilian father and he loved it! The pictures are beautiful, it’s profound and lighthearted at the same time.

Too short on wisdom. But some good information on early history of Sicily and the development of the Sicilian laguage.

It was great to read in the Sicilian language, which is in danger of being lost. And the photos of Sicily were beautiful.

Wonderful proverbs, an interesting peak into Sicilian history. A must have for anyone of Sicilian descent, anyone studying the region, or just interested in a light enjoyable read. Bravissimo!

I liked the explanations at the beginning and the short history at the end. The actual quotes are interesting too.

A fun little book to learn about my Sicilian roots.

This book may be a bit different from what you expect. I personally expected a lot of text in Sicilian and English, maybe a couple of photos. It is not like that. One page contains a single Sicilian proverb, its English translation and a beautiful photo on the opposite page. Poems and history are pure text, no photos. Of course, as per the book's extend, the history is rather brief. The only concern I have is that there's no description for the photos and you may not be able to identify all the places. There is still enough space on the page with text to add a small notice saying what is on the picture.

Fabulously humorous book, well received

I bought this book for my dad, who grew up in Sicilian. He loves it! It brought back so many memories of his childhood. It highlights the beauty and history of Sicily.

The book did not meet my expectations as there was minimal content. Should have had more.
