Avengers by Jason Aaron Vol. 6: Starbrand Reborn (Avengers by Jason Aaron, 6)

A lot of pages for a short plot
Heavy on action, very light on plot. For me the main arc, the ‘birth’ of the new Starbrand could have been 24 pages not a TPB. However, the origin story of Starbrand and what’s going on with Tony Stark redeemed it from a two star to a 4.

Cosmic stuff
“Avengers – Starbrand Reborn” collects issues #26-30 of the latest (2018) incarnation of the team.Issue #26 starts four billion years ago with the secret origin of the Starbrand, though it skips forward a bit to link up with the Avengers of 1,000,000 BC. Didn’t Mr Aaron the writer do this sort of thing with his recent Thor series? Hmmm…Anyway the rest of the book sees the team off into Shi’ar space to rescue the missing Gladiator, who has stumbled on the soon-to-be-reborn Starbrand. Naturally, lots of other troublemakers are drawn to the scene, including the Heralds of Galactus, with the usual results. It was all entertaining enough, but you do have to wonder if American writers quite grasp the meaning (and size) of a galaxy.
