Why does this seller punch holes in the cans? Is this an indication by the manufacturer that polish is old and out-of-date?

Cans to drill a small hole on the top cover . Products sold to customers, production year in 2015 and expires 9/24/2017 .

Is this the same formulation i used in the us navy to spit shine (tap water) my shoes to a near mirror gloss?

yes I believe it is. I also shined my Navy shoes with this product. I still use it to shine my boots. I just buff for them, and they come up with a nice shine.

Don't know about Kiwi. I do use Lincoln Stain wax in blue. It works great.
