Lots of fun playing with rewarding bonus videos
Preface:This is a review for the solo "career mode" only. Haven't touched the XBOX live and multiplayer yet--I will update my review once I do that. I am also a big Green Day fan so that also affects my review.Review:I have REALLY been enjoying this game!!! I played through the whole main game in two days (which is HIGHLY unusual for me... I rarely ever complete a game no matter how much I enjoy it) and am now working on unlocking all of the bonus content.High points:* Great variety of songs from Insomniac - 21st Century Breakdown albums (3 partial albums, 3 full albums)* Great variety of slow/fast/punk/pop-punk songs* Great behind the scenes videos, photos, and concert performances -- rewarding and fun to complete the challenges* I have only played guitar so far, (completed on hard and started on expert) but the parts have been a lot of fun and have a nice variety in song styles and playing styles* Great replay value. As with all other Rock Band games, with 4 instruments to play, 3 part vocal harmonies, and 4 difficulty levels to choose from, there is plenty to do!Low points:* Repetitive stage-entrance videos (it appears to be one video for each venue that is shown at varying angles. It would have been nice to put forth the small effort to create a couple more varieties.* Only 3 venues (and thus 3 sets of outfits for the bands)* A little on the short side (would have loved more songs for the earlier days) in terms of the initial run-throughAll in all, Green Day: Rock Band is very entertaining and a must-have for Green Day fans despite the average visual appearance. If you like Green Day at all, this is a must-have for your Rock Band collection!

Congrats Harmonix, GDRB Very Complete Game
Coming from a person who owns Rock Band, Rock Band 2, Beatles Rock Band, Lego Rock Band, Green Day Rock Band, and Rock Band 3, I would say Green Day Rock Band is a very solid, highly entertaining effort by Harmonix at another band-specific release. If you appreciate the music of Green Day, this game is a no-brainer. If you enjoy music games in general, you will have a lot of fun with this game. All told, a great set list. The first time I played through it I noticed more than a few songs where I was like, "This a Green Day song? I never knew that, I love this song!" Green Day Rock Band allows guitar, bass, drums, vocals, including solo vocals, like all other Rock Band games, and an additional option of harmonies. For the harmonies option, you can use the microphones provided with the Lips game, if you already have them. Comparing apples to apples, Harmonix made some much needed improvements with their Green Day release over their Beatles release. Both band-specific games have a solid set list but the achievements for Green Day are much more attainable than in Beatles. By playing fairly well, expect to earn between 600 and 700 gamerscore points somewhat easily. Unlike Beatles Rockband, you are not required to 100% most of the songs on expert difficulty to earn some achievements. In my mind, the relative attainability of the achievements only serves to increase the fun factor of this game, where it can played for pleasure with your friends without the pressure of perfection. One last note, I would encourage you to buy this game new from Amazon.com so the code on the back of the instruction manual will be intact, allowing you to import your Green Day songs into Rock Band 3.

What's not to love
I love to drum when it comes to rockband, and I purchased this specifically for fun, complicated drum rythms. These old school, fast beats are a doable challenge when you're tired of the same stuff on Rock Band Original. There are really sweet drum fill challenges that are sometimes insane, but silly to try. Good ol' Dookie songs to jam out to with friends/siblings.

Great game and fun regardless
I preorded from amazon (xbox 360 standard version) and played it for a few days. I would say that I've unlocked at least 30% of the songs already. Played it as 2 players as well and enjoyed it greatly with drums, guitar, and microphone combination. There are some songs that won't have certain alternate tracks for a particular equipment but those are few. There is also a song that is only 1 minute long and I wonder why it was included as a track since the intro was longer then the song itself. Also I did not see any lag or hickup while the song played so that is realy great. Haven't been able to try online multiplayer yet since it is only a couple of days after it was released. However these are small stuff and the game is fun over all.At startup the player has the option to play quick band or career mode. However unlike the Rock Bank series you never get the option to buy more shirts or add more accessories to your characters. The choices are automatically picked based on what your role within the band is. Using the guitar auto picks the guitarist within the band, same with drums and microphone. I was hoping to be able to create a newbie avatar that grows with the band as I help them rise to fame. The song list contains 3 stages with about 4 songs on each stage. Pass those songs and you unlock the next song pack within that stage. Each song gives you credit that unlock images and videos but these are unlocked for you as you go along. You never get the feel that you're shopping for something at all and before a good video can be unlocked you need to unlock the others that comes before it in order down the list. Some extras require a perfect score on a song or a minimum of stars on a particular set of songs like an achievement that only you can look at.On the plus side the game is fun to play with notes being accurate with the song. I haven't played expert mode just yet since its still too new for me to learn them. The star powers creates an echo in the song that makes it sound very sweet to the ear. Anything above easy will give you combo notes where you'll need to press 2 buttons at the same time in rythm for guitar as well as drums. The vocal side of play is easy and a perfect score can be obtained with a little bit of effort. The achiements are fun too, such as playing with your left hand or the one that ask you to play a particular song with all instruments. Each stage consist of a particular theme that goes with the music that portrays a particular part of their band career and each song has an animation intro that lets you watch the band warm the crowd up or tune their instruments. Some intros are repeated so it's not numerous as the songs. The great song and the achievement I believe is what will keep you coming back to this game.
