FASHION vs STYLE: Where's the Seiko Solar in that?
Fashion and Style, find extreme distinction from each other. Fashion is that season of popularity garnering enough consumers to be embraced by the many needing membership in the crowd. Thus manufacturers find their profit motive in making stuff that speaks to Fashion. From bell-bottom jeans to baseball caps worn backward, from bright red neckties, to wristwatches looking like gladiator badges the size of railroad station wall clocks, Fashion comes and goes.Mostly Fashion comes to people who don't belong to themselves. Then it goes.In this absence of identity, the Fashion crowd silently scream *I'm compelled* to belong to something. Pop-culture with it's fickle Fashions are effective surrogate families.Pop-culture substitutes it's grisly adolescent sass promising exciting attention in place of Art. Those suffering in the absence of themselves go for pop-culture Fashion. Andy Warhol, of course, made famous commentary on this.He knew we live in a culture hostile to art. One bulwark against the Fashion of pop-culture is Style: preferably your own.So what's Style? Seiko Solar has it.Seiko's Solar strength is not Fashion: it's sophisticated micro-engineering Style delivered in a tasteful easy to read, and easy to wear, watch that is the embodiment of Style itself.Style is design that serves not a Fashion purpose, but functional purpose and usually does so in a quiet way marked by the designer's sense of art and engineering.Seiko's solar watch is designed for human wrists, not Viking thugs clanging their way into the Musee d'Orsay. The Seiko solar tells its wearer the time at a glance without assualting your eyes, and without false drama.Ask any refined woman aware of the French woman's sense of style. The way she ties her scarf, wears her hair, or presents herself in the world. As a culture, the French are aware of style, design, and taste alongside the renowned style of Danish housewares, Japanese landscape painting, Italian suits, and Italian automobiles. All Style. The Seiko Solar watch lives in the refined design world of visual balance serving Function and does so with a calculated timeless joy. Yes, timeless. Real Style is timeless.Compare the handsome, highly functional face of the Seiko Solar to current pop-culture Fashion watches trying to say "look at me. I've got seven dials, my watch flies fighter planes, my bright orange watch can dive into the Mariana Trench, and nobody can miss seeing it especially the 50-mm wide face that can knock out street thugs with nary a flick of the wrist.Maybe it's better than Mace, but not for me.The Seiko Solar says there is time for intimate conversations, time for sharing a meal splendidly created with as much care and taste to it's presentation as Seiko gave to the engineering of this superb Solar powered timepiece, and with flavor, and innovation that works.Of course you never need to buy batteries, wind it, charge it on your night stand. Mine is extremely accurate. I make only a minute correction on it once a year. One earmark of Style is that it needn't say much to be quietly effective.

An incredibly well priced watch with great features
An absolutely delightful slim dress watch with cartier tank like looks (a clear homage) and solar charging capabilities at a price point that would put most luxury brands to shame. I bought it as a gift for someone but liked it so much, ended up putting one in my collection and got a gold strap (23 mm lug size) to go with it. It's super light, very comfortable, feels nice on my 7.5 inch wrist and fits well. It's got the right weight to it once you put on a metal strap to it. The only thing I didn't like about this watch is the cheap leather strap that comes along with this and it's really a pain to remove, but I am not taking away stars for that because in all honesty, even though it's faux leather and cheap feeling, it's not all that bad and could easily pass off as a decent strap. Bottom line, a great little buy and value for money.

Looks nice
So far, so good.I have a Seiko for the 1980s that I got with my promotion to Major in the Army that I'm very fond of - it's almost identical to the Cartier Tanker watch, which is my all time favorite. I purchased this as a daily replacement for my old Seiko. While it still keeps perfect time, it can no longer be made water resistant and has taken a bit of a beating over the years. I don't want it to become totally unusable, so I'll only wear it on special occasions when I'm not wearing the Cartier.I've only had the watch for less than a week, but I'm very happy with the looks, although it is a bit larger than I had expected. The gold highlights on the face detract a bit for me, but that's a personal preference - I like a clean watch face. Still, the overall styling is very nice. For the price, it's a daily wearer and I'm not particularly worried about it. This watch has relegated my Timex to gardening and maintenance duties.I'll probably be changing the band as I have relatively small wrists and the watch currently sits off centered on my arm. Perhaps when the rather stiff band breaks in this will change. If not, I'll go to a metal band. The solar recharging is interesting and unobtrusive - I hope it stays that way and continues to work for many years, I'd love to be able to come back in 30 years and say the watch is still going strong. We'll see.

Gorgeous micro-thin Tank watch
This watch, a copy of Cartier's famous design, is exactly what I wanted. First and foremost, it is micro-thin. Exactly as I wanted! It is difficult to gauge what "6mm" will actually look like on one's wrist, but let me say that in real life it is just as thin as I had hoped for! On the other hand, the watch feels substantial. The numbers are big and the whole image is one of class and elegance! The band lasted about a year, but that was expected. All in all, I was exceptionally pleased!

Best Price for this Model on Amazon! Much Better than the Pictures.
Incredible balance struck between price and design. Much, much sharper in person than in the pictures. For functionality, quality, accuracy, and style, this wins it. The hardened crystal is actually beveled at the edges giving it an interesting art deco feel and look that you don't get from the pictures. The vertical stripes on the face are just visible enough to add to that art deco look, but not noticeable as a stand out on their own. One fantastic piece for the price range and actually aesthetically very faithful to the original Cartier! My new daily wear at work. A final note: I was afraid this was going to be too big on my smallish wrist after reading some reviews. It's perfect, and a bonus that it is easily readable without being intrusive.

Quality
It's a very well-made watch at what ultimately will certainly prove to be an excellent price, because it feels like a watch that will last for a decade or more. The solar power system is amazing. It's comfortable to wear and beautiful to look at.

Beautiful and well made
Love this watch, it’s very well made and I love the fact that it will not need batteries. Bought the women’s version first but was way too small even though I have slender wrist. Read some ladies reviews of this one and decided to buy it. This one is definitely a keeper.
