It takes a little work to use (hey, it's manual, not electric…), but works well
This functions exactly as described. This type of "burr" coffee grinder was recommended by a specialty coffee company over the blender blade style most popular coffee "grinders" are; electric burr type grinders with decent ratings and such seem to go $80 and up (mostly up), and we usually buy ground coffee so I thought I'd get this. It works fine, but as some other reviewers have noted, it does take some work and it's hard to hold the thing dead steady while turning the handle. If you are very small or weak, you may have issues, but most people will not, and some wiggling of the unit as you turn is not a significant issue. UPDATE: I have only run a few varieties of coffee through this grinder, it's working fine, but it seems like darker roast beans are much much easier to grind while lighter roast ones are more difficult. Maybe they will come out with one that is built into an exercise cycle, improve your health and grind a lot of beans very easily! If you get only whole bean coffees and have to grind a lot of it, this is probably not a good choice unless you are trying to punish yourself, but for occasional use, or in a power failure, or (as another reviewer noted) on a boat, or camping, etc., it's great. It is well built. The instructions are okay but note that the adjustment (fine to coarse) is effected by holding the shaft steady (by hand or with the "key", etc.) and turning the notched wheel, not just by placing the key in a different slot. Trial and error. One you get it set the way you wish, it works fine.

Great item
Easy to use. Cannot imagine what some of the people are talking about re. “ a real workout “. Takes maybe a couple of minutes for me to grind 30 grams of coffee to make about 21 ozs. of coffee ( 2 of my cups). Like it.

This is a good manual, beginner grinder
Consistent in grinding the coffee. Also consistent in taking several minutes to grind enough for a pot of coffee, but worth it. This is a good manual, beginner grinder. I would buy it again.

I have not used it much but it does produces a nice espresso grind but learning how to use it was not easy and not easy to use but the cost and compact nature was what i was looking for

High quality product from a company with a great mission
I am so excited about this product. I'd never owned a manual grinder before this (though had used them a few times), but honestly, I just like the feeling of doing things by hand. Bonus that I can bring this little guy camping or over a flight, if I wanted to. And while I had trouble convincing myself to spend money on this thing instead of an electric grinder that was less work, the quality of this product and the mission of the company make me have no qualms about making this choice.I could see how someone who's used to waking up to a fast cup would be adverse to the idea of taking a little more time and working a little more effort in the dark hours of the morning. Once I got the hang of it and wasn't feeling so skittish, though, it'd only take about five minutes to produce just under half a cup of grounds. I can manage five minutes. It's a pretty straightforward device: screw the top cone on, throw the beans in, crank away. For my French press, it produces a good, consistent grind. (I haven't tried to see if it does well with an espresso-fine grind though.) The materials feel sturdy and have survived a couple drops (whoops!). After a few months of daily use, so far it still feels like it's in just as good of shape as the first time I used it. And if you get a little overzealous, there's even a lid for the glass container, so you can keep any leftover grinds airtight. My one hangup is that adjusting the grind size isn't particularly convenient. I'm brewing on a French press almost all the time, so for the most part I leave it on a good coarse setting and it's not a problem. If you're one to switch between brewing methods and dial in and out of different grinds often, it might be less convenient. You basically have to take apart the piece where the crank handle is, adjust, test-grind to find the right spot, screw it back on, repeat. Frankly, it's just because I'm clumsy and afraid of losing/ruining small, essential pieces.Another note: I hadn't recognized the name of the company, so when I Googled around to find more information, I was very pleased to find out about the company's social enterprise mission and culture, including projects to install water filters in poor areas around the world lacking clean water. This socially minded orientation seems to be reflected in other aspects of the company, so it doesn't just feel like a gimmick; I encourage you to read more about them. Anyway, I'm thrilled that an indulgent investment in my morning coffee ritual is at least going to a company I feel good about, and the device is worth the price even before you factor that in.

A must have for coffee aficionados.
I received this for an honest review. I love coffee. Nothing is better when waking up than a good cup of coffee. I think this will be in my kitchen for a long time. I had tried having an electric coffee grinder but I couldn't adjust the one I had so it went at a garage sale. I have a french press coffee maker and this will grind the exact amount I need to make a pot and since it stays as a whole bean till right before it's used the coffee keeps it's flavor longer. Clean up is very simple the jar at the bottom comes off and has a top. All the parts are easily cleaned and put back on the glass base.

This coffee grinder does a great job at grinding a consistent size grind
This coffee grinder does a great job at grinding a consistent size grind. The down side is that is is hard to grind. It takes a long time to grind what would fill the hopper (the hopper holds about a cup of coffee beans) If by chance the glass were to break, the hopper will not fit on any other jar. I tryed a mason jar and it wouldn't fit. I wish they would have made the hopper to fit any normal jar. If I could return it I would. I would instead get the hario one. It has a cover over the hopper to keep the beans from spilling out as you grind.

Affordable coffee grinder that does the job
Wasted a few coffee beans and took me a while to figure out how to get a proper grind size. It came with instructions but didn't explain much. I learned how it works by grinding a few pieces of coffee beans without the lid on so that I can observe how it grinds. Turning the adjustment nut counterclockwise will produce coarser grinds as it opens up the space between the burrs. Turning it clockwise will tighten the space between the burrs thus creating finer grinds.Shipping is free and fast.Tip: This grinder looks like a cheaper version of the Hario Skerton ceramic grinder and the grinding process is similar. Look for "Hario Ceramic Coffee Grinder Instructions - How to Use, Adjust the Grind Setting and Clean" by French Press Coffee channel on YouTube. I found this video after learning on my own :( They shared great tips on how to use it so you don't have to waste as much coffee as I do.I wouldn't call this great for traveling because it's quite bulky but if you have the space then why not. It's easy to clean as you can take every piece apart. Be careful not to lose any part though! The burrs are white and it's hard to make them white again due to the coffee stains but I don't mind.I can say that I made the right decision to choose this over a blade grinder. I got more control over grind size with this. With proper care, I think this will last a long time.

Static-free and consistent
This review is being written after a few days of use. First thing I noticed was the build quality which was very good. I was happy with my grosche moka pot and needed a new grinder so decided to give this a shot. I use a french press for my daily coffee and immediately noticed a smoother flavour because of the consistent coarse grinds. It's much easier to clean than my previous steel manual grinder. All the grinds fall out of the glass container where previously static would cause some to stick to the sides of the plastic one. I haven't tried fine grinding for espresso yet. I'm also curious if the burrs will maintain their position. Given the adjustment mechanism, I think they will. Overall, a very good grinder for the money.

An essential part of enjoying the process
This grinder arrived and in good condition as promised. While those who have a loss of hand strength may find its use difficult I have found it quite easy to produce enough ground coffee for my daily cup(s) of my favourite brew. As a senior I have made the production of my coffee as part of my daily routine. I no longer travel so I cannot comment. I found this item fits my routine and I can highly recommend it for those who enjoy the whole process required for an enjoyable cup.

Great coffee bean crusher
This cofee bean maker is definately the best one ive used. It ceushes the bean easily and roattes well there are no lags compared to others where they get stuck sometimez. They add an extra cup where you can store your cofee beans or if the initial one breaks. In addition to all this, Its very easy to assemble

Fresh Ground Coffee at Home
I found this manual coffee grinder to be exactly what I wanted. It takes up little space, comes with an extra jar and lid for storage of grounds ready for tomorrow. The only thing that was confusing is that there was no instructions/guidance on how to make fine, medium or course grounds. I had to guess/figure it out on my own. I'd rather have a guide. Other than that, I'm very happy with it.
