Not a terrible read.
The story of Matt and Marna is one of star-crossed lovers who spent the better part of the book running away from each other. There were areas that the book could have done without such as an extra marital affair, as well as character development and scene depth that were missing, because i kept forgetting what the main characters looked like and more should have been done to have him fall in love with her inner beauty before her actual face was revealed.Never have i seen two people who were just not meant to be together. She was better off with either of the two dead guys had they survived.Overall it was not a bad read. Marna kept my attention throughout, the scenes kept changing and i did not know what to expect next .I managed to finish the book and not trash my tab (plus for me).It did not put me off the author because it's obvious that Ms Hess is great writer.I'll give another one a try and go on from there.

Too dark
Main character isn't raped but secondary character dove is kidnapped & repeatedly raped by villain when hero or supposed nice men secondary characters could easily have stopped him but didn't couldn't continue to read

Should have been called Matt instead
Marna is such a doormat for Matt that she easily brushes aside his callous behavior towards her time and time again. The storyline is unnecessarily drawn out for so long and the women in this book are poorly abused sexually and emotionally.

and liked them, she's a good author
I've other books she's written....and liked them, she's a good author.....but Marna was just "nasty" durty , not like her....but that's life.

Worst romance ever...
Awful. Just awful. Every woman in the book gets raped, except one and she is a prostitute! Marna turns out to be 15 and Matt is 35. There is little to no romantic love between them. Marna rejects two men who treat her well for a man who rapes her and repeatedly calls her whore. I don't know that this remotely qualifies as romance. Unless subjugation turns you on.

Not good
I love Norah Hess but this has to be one of her worse efforts. Too many farfetched happenings for this to be even remotely believable.
