These Koss HPH14K ticked all the boxes, except they squeezed my head so tight that I couldn't wear them for even 1/2 hour. They need a wider headband. No problem. Shut your eyes and cut through the top-middle of the headband (actually you can just notch it a bit and then flex the band until it snaps). Cut your tube around 4" length. Stick each end of the headband about 1" into the tube. Presto; you're now adjustable in four places. Get a lighter tube, if possible, so that it's not heavy on top of your head. Over the decades, the Sony headphones kept being manufactured further and further from Japan (sort of like WWII in reverse ;-), and I don’t think the moves improved quality. As far as these headphones are concerned, I've been using these while exercising since the Sonys disappeared, and I have no complaints. IMHO, perfectly acceptable audio quality, reasonably rugged, and they don't seem to mind being rinsed. AFAIK, these Koss KPH14 headphones are the only quality “side firing” headphones made. Unless things have changed, you have no other choice. At one time there were two Chinese copies available. The one I tried was of extremely low quality in every possible way -- and about twice the price of these. I never tried the other clone, nor do I intend to. **Q: What is "side firing"?** A: The ear piece has a speaker stat is flat and just sets slightly inside the ear. It points forward and allow the sound to be bounced back into the ear. Not dependent on a bud jammed into your ear canal. Much more comfortable for people with small ear canals or who dislike/can't wear ear buds. Way too small for my adult head. Yes, the buds are adjustable, but they can't be extended far enough down, so they put extreme stress on the outer ears. It's like they're designed for a child's head?? Also, the plastic across the top is brittle; it snapped completely in two after just two months.
