Look Who's Back (Er ist wieder da) [Blu-Ray Region A/B/C Import]

What IF he was really back? Or is he?
It actually does appear that Adolph Hitler has reappeared, waking up in the ground surrounding the Reichskanzlei in Berlin. Everything about him seems genuine--down to his incredulity at flat-screened TVs. One can imagine his thoughts about the many uses of propaganda 70 years after the end of WWII, give or take....But he is amiable, save for being caught shooting a small dog on a video before he becomes a bit of a cult hero. His "programme" appears just as it was....and it is popular (I'm reminded of the new party, AfD, Alternative for Deutschland, rising faster than Angela Merkel can rush in economic migrants across the border. I would call this a comedy, but it is too pathological....Germany and Germans have not changed that much as it appears here. I believe the opposite, as I know my 2nd and 3rd generation post-war Germans. I give it 5 stars only because of the paradox that flourishes throughout--is Germany better off ethnically German, or not? We see in the film a prosperous Germany, but that is not the scene today with burgeoning welfare recipients and tent cities. Except for his seeming lack of awareness of war crimes, he hates Jews (oops!) and gradually we discover this is a put-on for TV. I was so nearly convinced I was glad when the subterfuge was exposed.I speak German, and found the original trailer quite compelling--I had to see it. I bought the video from Amazon.de only to find it streaming shortly therafter. It is still worth watching...get ready to have your mind snapped back into the 21st century! The misuse of the term Nazi today is revolting...the true Nazi didn't want to look over his or her back fence, only the rabble engaged in street fighting until the heads of the SA were lopped off.

Buy the Blu-Ray if American!
No issues with the product, but had to return it for the Blu-Ray version to play it on American DVD/Blu-Ray players.

Hilarious satire
Interesting comedy that also makes a commentary on how gullible most people are.

A Cautionary Tale...
‘Look Who’s Back!’ isn’t really a dark comedy; it’s a frightening moral tale about aspects of the human condition.*The main character, Adolf Hitler, thankfully isn’t glorified, although his views are presented in a neutral manner. It is left to us, the viewer, to see that his agendas, terrible in the 20th Century, remain just as terrible and potentially viable in the 21st.*A word about the format of this Blue-Ray DVD: It is formatted in the European DVD mode. It will NOT play on a regular North American DVD unit. However, it IS compatible with North American BLUE RAY devices. My Blue Ray unit is 6 years old, and this Blue Ray disk plays a-okay!

With a few minor P.C. areas... all in all.. Excellent.
There should be an English language version.. the message is too important not to presented to the greatest number of people possible.

My favriote comedy
The film was amazing and is so accurate to what is going on right now, and although it's wierd i agree with a few of views. The few people hwo dislike the film are either people comparing it to the book, or someone of a pc cultural, if you are comparing to the book fair enough it is far diffrent than what the movie is and i would understand. The pc on the other end is more of the same crap, cannot say that, this is offensive, etc and all they do is make statements, they do not give the film a chance, much like what they do to other things and it's almost degrading.I do not speak any German but even reading the subtitles made me laugh out loud, i would definitely recommend it.

unexpected, humorous, unsettling
This movie was such a random find on Netflix and I had to own it. Definitely a black comedy and by the end your head is exploding. And when I discovered that the people he talks to in the square and takes pictures with were REALY PEOPLE and NOT EXTRAS???? Wow. The layers in this film just blow me away.

"Make Germany great again" and using reality TV as a springboard
Based on the 2014 book, it was written as a comedy and social commentary. But it chillingly predicts the rise of Donald Trump with the line, "Make Germany great again" and using reality TV as a springboard. The more outrageous his statements, the more press he gets, and the more popular he becomes. This movie is subtitled in English once you navigate the German language menu to reach it (Einstellungen means subtitles). A must-watch for people who care about democracy and how it can be hijacked by bigots and demagogues. Don't miss the riff on Downfall about 2/3 of the way through the film.

J'ai découvert le livre en Allemagne j'étais morte de rire mais le film est tout aussi bien. C'est sur que sa serais très drôle de le voir réapparaître 70 ans apres. À voir sans modération tellement c'est drôle
