Johnny, with a new compadre Martin , in hand wastes no time in continuing his exciting adventure over the great State of Texas. The camaraderie between the good guys definitely befitting of their respective accomplishments and there is never a dull moment from beginning to end. I am definitely impressed with Mr. Church's thoroughness in his outstanding descriptiveness of each and every episode, as Johnny and crew sweeps the dregs of violence from each and every corner!
No problem awarding five stars to this outstanding western masterpiece of experiences adventures of old American western folklore excitement. The storylines successfully portrays the compassion of what one might expect in the anticipation of western justice. I would rather read about justice instead of lawful interpretations of right or wrong! The character selection is definitely above the normal expectations, as they, most definitely, meet my most demanding desires. They certainly play their assigned roles without hesitation and their effectiveness is definitely unsurpassed! This story is very family-friendly, although the gunfights get a little water at times, and the compassionate camaraderie definitely touches the heartstrings of any reader's imagination. This series certainly has enough suspenseful episodes to appease anyone's desired expectations, as well as endearing romantic interludes to whet anyone's appetite. If you aren't satisfied with one exciting episode just keep reading and the next one will definitely appease your utmost desired expectations. Most definitely recommend this fascinating series to all readers, but especially to those of you loving real exciting above average western adventures, that touches your heartstrings and maintains your complete interest from beginning to end. I am definitely impressed with the author's outstanding descriptiveness of each and every detailed action throughout the entire book. Better read these stories, or the loss is definitely yours!!!!😁

A very good read with interesting twist and turns.
Though I really like most of the book, I was shocked that the best plot in the book by the Gambler Cole, was left with a court hearing that mentioned nothing of Coles being caught, or punished?! The most interesting part for me ended with just the hearing! No mention of what happened to the gambler who had set up Johnny Black with murder. Could have been the best turn off events in the book.

GOING HOME
Hey to all you Johnny Black fans. Well he's on his way back home to San Antonio, Texas. He's met a man in the trail whose drifting enjoying the country side. His name is Martin who was born in Ireland, but left home at an early age. He lived on the streets of Ireland, he left home like so many Irish because the family couldn't feed him not enough food..very sad, but that's how it was!. Martin Quinn eventually joined the FRENCH FOREIGN LEGION, and he fought in Algiers, Ukraine, Spain. Now he's in America, landed in New York City where he got a job in a slaughterhouse, nasty work, but he saved his money bought a horse 🐎 headed West. Now Johnny Black was headed for his ranch just to see how things were and what shape the place was in. During that trip he and Martin ran into TROUBLE. Martin almost died suffered a terrible head wound. A no count named Jim Bob, low down pole cat backstabber. He was released so now he's trailing Johnny and he ambushed Martin one night as he was leaving the saloon, jacked him up best and stabbed Martin twice and kicked him in his head. Jim Bob thought he was beating Johnny Black who his real anger/rage was directed at. Well Johnny figured out who the pole cat was who accosted Martin and best the he'll out of him.I love reading about Johnny Black this man and his animals he will not let anyone abuse them. He and Rosalinda finally get married, in fact, it was a double wedding Bridgett and Martin also married. Bridgett and Martin left for California where they hope to open a saloon...I say to all ride with the wind to your backs...right on!

Good Western Book
This is the second Johnny Black novel that I've read and, for the most part it is well written. I would have given this book 5 stars if not for the inaccuracies involving the firearms of the Old West. The Navy Colt .36 caliber that our leading man favors is a cap and ball revolver and there are no cartridges for it. In the first book the author mentioned a Sharpe rifle which of course is a Sharps rifle. Of course that may have been a misprint. There are several other inaccuracies that I will leave up to the author to discern. With the advent of the computer there is really no excuse for these mistakes. I believe that Gary Church is a very talented author that could be up there with the top authors if he fact checked his firearms. A great many of your consumers are firearms enthusiasts. Good story lines otherwise.

Trouble on the Shawnee Trail
This is a very good story , and it just doesn't seem to get a bit worse as it goes along. The author has put together a great read that gives you a chance to be part of the old west with no chance of harm.

Where Johnny Black goes trouble will soon follow.
Johnny Black and Martin Quinn following an Indian attack, became fast friends during their adventures on the Shawnee Trail. Johnny was heading to San Antonio Texas to meet up with an old childhood friend who just happened to be female and he didn't quite what to expect when he arrived. However trouble seemed to get in the way at every turn in the Shawnee Trail, making the trip last much longer than intended. Both men, Johnny and Martin had their personal nightmares from wars they had fought in and when they finally arrived in San Antonio the adventures didn't end. Their feelings for the women in their lives caused uncertainty in a way they didn't know whether to run or stay. The adventures and growing legend of Johnny Black along with his new found friend Martin Quinn is a must read for fellow Western enthusiasts.

Just okay
The story had its merits but it was too wordy or there were too many places it got boring. Plus, way too much happened to him. I may continue the series to see if they rest of the books are like it.
