Q: Is the insole removable or is it glued in? I have tendinopathy and need to be able to remove the insole, place cushioning on it and replace it.

This is a very nice and extremely comfortable shoe. I have it in black and brown. I just checked and the insole on the black pair I have on now is easily removable.

Q: I have a high instep, is there a fair amount of flexibility in this shoe?

The instep is not the same as the arch. I have a high instep and find these shoes to be a bit tight. Though the flexibility is good, after a couple of hours, the pressure on the instep does cause pain for me.

Q: Is shank metal? looking for tsa friendly shoe.

No - no metal shank. These are very comfortable shoes and, once broken in, will be easy to slip on and off with ease.

Q: Why do you charge more for a smaller size than a bigger size, that takes much more material? How does that make sense?

It is all about supply and demand. If less people wear a certain size, they tend to drop the price, but charge more for the popular sizes. That is always the case.
