Discovery Progam 3cd set, Navy Seals Review: Learn and change - Awesome, referenced this documentary a 1000 times over 20 years. Worth it to help you realize what SEALs sacrifice in comfort and mentally for you if obsorded you will make good changes in own life. Review: Pain is just weakness leaving your body. - I loved this DVD set and am in awe of the young men who volunteer for the arduous SEAL training program. This five hour DVD set gives us a snapshot of life in BUD/S training, the first hurdle sailors must clear to become Navy SEALs (BUD/S graduation is followed by SEAL Qualification Training [SQT]). There are three mentally and physically challenging phases in BUD/S training. The first two disks (four episodes) in this set focus on First Phase - physical training and teamwork development - which includes the infamous Hell Week. The third disk (two episodes) shows highlights from Second Phase diving instruction and Third Phase weapons training, underwater demolition, and land warfare tactics. Footage includes interviews with instructors and trainees during and between training evolutions. I discovered this series after reading Dick Couch's The Warrior Elite: the Forging of SEAL Class 228. Couch is a former SEAL who served in Vietnam. He was given unprecedented access to instructors and trainees as he followed Class 228 through BUD/S. And many of the instructors seen in the DVD are also featured prominently in Couch's book. The result is a far more in-depth look at BUD/S training than you get from the video, but the DVD definitely gives you a sense of the agony these guys must go through; you can see the pain on their faces during the more tortuous evolutions. For those interested in the next round of SEAL training, check out Couch's follow-up book, The Finishing School: Earning the Navy SEAL Trident, which chronicles SEAL Qualification Training or SQT. If you really want to know what it takes to be a Navy SEAL and what these young men must endure to achieve their goal, I would highly recommend you watch this DVD set (and read the two Dick Couch books as companions).

Welcome to BUD/S!
This 3-disc DVD set is an incredible documentation about military training in an elite force. It gives an insider's look into BUD/S class 234: of the students and of their no-nonsense, hard-core instructors. BUD/S (Basic Underwater Demolition/SEAL) training is the six months of basics, which includes PT phase, diving/water navigation, and weapons. Viewers get a glimps of what it takes to become a Navy SEAL. The cold, the endurance, the self-sacrifice, the will to win and succeed, and the dedication to the team. My brother-in-law's father was a Navy SEAL, and after watching this documentary, I've gained greater appreciation and understanding of his experience. However, the DVD just shows a snippet of SEAL training. BUD/S is just the beginning! For any potential SEAL-to-be, this DVD is a must! Also, for the extreme workout (or physical preparation) try: The Complete Guide to Navy Seal Fitness, Third Edition (Includes Free DVD): Updated for Today's Warrior Elite . My favorite documentary on all time
I absolutely love this DVD set! I bought a second set off Amazon because I lost one disc to the first set I bought from the Discovery Channel store. Having watched the documentary numerous times, there are slight differences between this boxed set and the Discovery Channel set. This one has a little more to it in terms of split screens during interviews and extra footage. The DVD follows BUDs class 234 on their quest to become Navy Seals. There's nothing more intriguing than watching this group of men go through complete physical hell in order to become America's most elite soldiers. The attrition rate in BUDs is extremely high and, as stated in the video, the ones the make it through are the ones that would rather die than quit. The most amazing thing to watch in the DVD is who makes it through BUDs and who doesn't. Although the training is very rigorous, the challenge to BUDs seems more mental than anything. The three-disc set follows the BUDs trainees from their first day in training, through hell week, and onto dive training and underwater testing, and finally to land warfare training. While the DVD does a good job showing how rough the first 8 weeks of training are, it spends little time on the underwater and land warfare training. I would've liked to have seen more footage from these last two parts of BUDs and the DVD barely spends an hour on each topic. I would love to see a follow up on this documentary that focused on Seal Qualification Training, but I doubt the Navy wants our nations enemies to see how our Seals are trained. Overall, this DVD is great for anyone who wants a better idea of what these men go through on the first stage of their journey to becoming Navy Seals!

Wet and Sandy!!
This show on BUD/S training is outstanding! Well worth picking up if you are into learning about what it takes to be part of our elite military. The show is presented in a fairly unbiased way, and you can't help but root for all the guys. The instuctors are sometimes comical in their interactions with their trainees. I really enjoyed watching this program, and wouldn't mind at all watching more! Another great show that can and should be watched along with this one is "Surviving the Cut" from Discovery Channel. There is a Navy SEAL episode on that one too, and is much like this show, only each highlighted elite military branch is only 1 hour long episode. Comes in a regular DVD case with 3 discs, six episodes total. Highly recommended to anyone who is interested in what it takes to be a U.S. Navy SEAL. GREAT SHOW!!!

BUDS CLASS
This is an excellent study of what it takes to be a Navy Seal. It was intense and extremely hard for these young men, yet I honored them who tried and even if they did not pass the ultimate tests, they did well and tried their best. I felt a great level of respect for all the young men. It would be a great series for any young man who might desire to be a Navy Seal.

BEST DOCUMENTARY & EDUCATIONAL
I have two friends and one brother already enlisted through S.E.A.L.S and I will be on my way soon. This is the best video to get you ready for b.u.d.s. You will learn almost too much in this video series. Why they haven't video taped any more seal classes is beyond me but this was amazing and an original classic. Everyone is highly recommended to watch this for the sake of entertainment, educational purposes, or just so you know what our boys have to go through. Way beyond surviving the cut because this dvd lets you almost feel what pain they go through. Also awesome for workout ideas!!! NEVER GIVE UP! and remember..... Yesterday was the only easy day
