Learned my lesson. Stick with Rid O' Rust.
I've used the Rid O' Rust Formula 2000 for years and it has always did the job. Decided to try a different, powdered product when Formula 2000 was discontinued. What a MISTAKE! Of course the product is cheaper, but the crap was really hard to get to mix in my tank, and when the tank was almost empty, there sits about half of the powder in the bottom of the tank. Then I had to hose out the sludge, which killed my grass. If I had bought it through Amazon, believe me I would have posted a 1/2 star rating for the stuff.Decided I should stick with what works, and ordered the new RR1. Works GREAT. Dosed just like the 2000 did, except the bottle is smaller- I used 4 1 gallon bottles of 2000 before, and now use 4 1/2 gallon bottles of RR1. Mixes just like water, no residue in the bottom of the tank, and I don't get any "bleed through" staining like I did with the powdered junk. I think I will try the 2.5 gallon bottle next, since there is a good price savings with the bigger size. Thanks for making a solid product that does what you say it does.

Excellent product, works as advertised.
Put in a drip system w/ a 30-gallon tank to cope with the iron problem and so far so good. It's not yet 100% but may get there in time, I hope. The installer recommended this brand and said not to use any others, which is fine by me as I have no interest in experimenting. The amount that should go into the tank will depend on the chem analysis of the water coming out of your well, which should be done before running the unit. Mine is not too bad so I can put in a 1/2 gallon bottle per 30 gallon tank. Mine has been set to consume about a gallon of fluid an hour, which translates into a drop in the level of fluid in the tank of about an inch an hour. Depending on how often you water, you can count on average on using one 1/2 gallon bottle of chemical a month, which beats the labor of removing the stains.
