Not the best quality but they can be restored to full operation
I bought 7 of these almost two years ago and after 1-1/2 years 6 of them were dead. For the price they are charging I would have expected much better results. I like the style and the amount of light they produce but before considering ordering more I decided to do some investigation. The rechargeable batteries were good (all fully charged in fact) so that was not the problem. Opening the units, I saw there was a small circuit board with a regulator circuit on it. With the solar cell laying flat on the bench so the circuit thought it was nighttime I noticed the regulator circuit would run at a frequency between 50 and 60 KHz. So, the batteries were good and the circuit board was good. The only thing left was the LEDs. I applied about 4.4 volts DC to the leads going to the LEDs and noticed some LEDs would light and some were either very dim or did not light at all. The LEDs are surface mount parts on small circuit boards. I decided to unmount the LEDs that did not light or were very dim and reassembled the units and they worked again (minus the LEDs that were removed, of course). Your milage may vary, but in my case the LEDs were the problem. My theory is that when the LEDs fail, they fail in a way that puts an excessive load on the regulator circuit. Remove the excess load and the unit will function again – at least until another LED goes. What I don’t get is LEDs usually last a long time so I don’t know why these seem to fail so quickly unless they are running too much power through them. There are two sets of BLACK/RED wires from the regulator that each power two of the LEDs connected in parallel. I expected to see a series current limiting resistor with each LED so the LEDs share the current more-or-less equally but it could be these LEDs have them built in. I may do some research/experiments to see if I can find a suitable LED replacement for the burned-out ones that would allow me to restore full operation to the units I have. But at least for now I have managed to restore operation to the 6 units that failed.UPDATE JUN-2023: I found LEDs that work in these units and have restored the caps to full operation. The LEDs are surface mount components so they are not something most homeowners can replace on their own. If you know someone who is into electronics as a hobby, they may be able to replace the LEDs provided they have experience working with Surface Mount Technology (SMT) components. I fully repaired a couple of caps with WHITE LEDs but I also bought BLUE LEDs and I like the blue ones better. The light is not as bright and more subtle so I am in the process of changing all the LEDs to blue ones. The blue ones are less expensive than the white ones. The LEDs I used are made by LITE-ON Inc. The white ones are part number LTW-670DS-EL. The blue LEDs I used (also by LITE-ON) are part number LTST-T680TBWT. I bought mine from Digi-Key. The Digi-Key part number is 160-2044-1 for the white ones – they cost $0.55/ea if buying less than 10, $0.362/ea if buying 10-99 and $0.2393/ea if buying 100+. (You can buy enough LEDs to fix 25 caps (100 LEDs) for less than the price of buying a single replacement cap!) If you want to buy the blue LEDs from Digi-Key the Digi-Key part number is 160-2182-1 and the prices are $0.43/ea if buying less than 10, $0.267/ea if buying 10-99 and $0.1536 if buying 100+. Prices are from Jun-2023. You can get the LEDs in other colors but I have only experimented with the white and blue ones. I suspect you can get them in Yellow, Red, Green, and Orange although I did not look for those colors.

STOP.. Do Not purchase this product, crap
Less than a year old the unit stopped and I receive a rude email saying we will replace it, but you have to pay to ship it back. It will cost over 1/2 the value of the product. Terrible unit, worse customer service.

For the price I paid could and should be better.
I have 20 of these lights on my property. When they work really great to look at. Out of the twenty 4 lights failed after less than a year. 3 others after two years. Problems. Recharging failed after a year. 3 more after 2 years. LED lights 2 out of the 4 stopped working after two years. Battery department is not as snug as it needs to be. Batteries move around. Ground wire I suspect also comes lose. For the price I paid could and should be better.I use 1000mAh Ni-MH rechargeable. With the sun they get should work 8 to 10 hours. Very disappointed to say the least.

Attractive solar fence post light
I bought one of these over a year ago and it is still going strong. I have vinyl fence with 5”x5” fence posts and this fit snuggly on the posts. I have read the reviews but I have not had any problems with my light as some others have stated. I live in SC and it is in a direct sun location, in the winter the light does not last all night but it does in the summer. I went ahead and bought a second light about a month ago for another vinyl fence post. They give off a nice glow and are very attractive. For me they are a little pricey otherwise I would buy more for my vinyl fence. So far I have been happy with them…

Very illuminating
This cap was a little pricey but now I am happy I spent the extra $. It provides a surprising amount of light in a previously dark corner of my yard. I have four cheaper caps on my deck that combined do not provide as much light as this one fixture. I wish I had seen this product before buying the cheaper models. Very highly recommended.

They don't last
I have to say that the lights are beautiful at night, they are bright and last through out the night. But as a short time goes by so does the quality. There's four light tracks and what happens is that weather corrupts either one of the four or up to four tracks not working and thus your money down the drain. But in the mean time they look great !

I am very happy with them
I purchased 4 of these lights for our new white PVC fence and for the two gates in the backyard. I am very happy with them. As the manufacturer specifies they charge all day and stay on all night. I've been monitoring the lights, so as the sun goes down they light up and amazingly stay on till sun up. Must be that bright Florida sunshine. After two weeks they are still working as specified by the manufacturer. So I purchased 4 more. These 4 additional lights function as the first 4 I purchased. There is a caveat, two of the lights by the back corner fence get less sunlight due to tree foliage, so they go off around 2-3 in the morning. Not a manufacturer defect.Stay tune. I will keep monitoring, if they still function great in a month or so, I will buy the remaining 8 I need.March 12 2016....Going on 5 months and all the lights are still operational per manufacturer specs. I have about 15 in my backyard.

Heads Up
This is our second purchase of these lights, we have a 100 foot vinyl fence and these lights fit the post perfectly and throw a more than adequate light without being obtrusive. Our first purchase of these lights was June of 15, we now have 4 lights that have lights out and others now very dimly lighting, replaced the batteries and they still aren't working right. We ordered these to replace the failing lights as we really do like them, but, this will be the last set, we'll go low voltage next time around and at 35 dollars each these get pretty pricey replacing them every couple of years vs a few bucks to replace a bulb in a low voltage light fixture.I've sent a complaint through Amazon to ask why a LED light should fail like these are and I'll post the response when or if I get one, and wanted to post a heads up to those to be aware they may not last more than a few years!!!
