Color:Multi This Travel Sentry-approved lock allows you to keep your belongings secure while you travel through the airport, and also allows the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) to open your luggage, if necessary, without destroying the lock. However, what makes this lock different from other Travel Sentry-approved locks is its triple security. With the Lockdown Lock, you can lock your zipper pulls together, lock your luggage handle to zipper pulls, and lock your bags to fixed objects. It’s also now easier to reset this lock by simply using the red resetting key that is inserted into the top of the lock, enabling you to change the 3-dial combination whenever you’d like. You can also use a paperclip or similar item to trigger the reset point. (Watch our videos or read the included instructions for more information.) The 3.15in (80mm) cable can be used to lock together the zipper pulls of the front pockets of your luggage, thus ensuring that thieves cannot close the bag after it has been broken into. The 5.5in (140mm) cable is ideal for looping the top handle of your luggage or bag around a piece of existing furniture, such as a pole on a train or bus, chair at an airport, desk at a hotel room, and much more. You can also use it to attach one bag to another, such as a backpack or purse to a rolling suitcase. Whether you’re going on a vacation, business trip, or backpacking adventure, this lock will provide you peace of mind knowing that thieves cannot easily steal your belongings.

Recipe for disaster
The good: Took me 10 minutes and three different wire cutters to finally cut this cable. Seems to be highly resistant to tampering and forced entry. I literally had to cut and cut and cut and squeeze and pry it and pull it apart finally ripping it apart. I'm surprised how hard it was to break. The horrible: The combination reset itself and locked me out. At the worst time on a backpacking trip. After having cleared security, at 1 AM in a shady foreign country. No way am I going to ask one of the cops armed with automatic assault weapons to help me break into my own bag. I locked it up and the little guy decided to never open up again for me. I have read some of the reviews saying this exact same thing happened, I am confident that this is a defective product that has a high probability of blocking you and everyone else out of your luggage. Give it a shot if you also carry around bolt cutters. Now I just going to use those plastic zip ties and nail clippers.

A complete waste of time and money...
I forgot to write a review at the time, but I bought this in October of 2012 from Amazon just before a trip to Britain to visit family and friends as a means to lock my laptop bag so as to avoid people trying to open it when out on the Tube and such. The lock worked fine until about 5 days into the trip when it suddenly locked up on me. After going through each and every single possible combination all the way from 000 to 999, I finally went out into the garage at my grandmother's and used a pair of old garden sheers to cut both loops. I then bought a pair of traditional locks from a nearby store to last the rest of the trip.I filed a claim with Amazon straight away who asked me to return the lock upon my return just over a week later, which I did. My advice would be to avoid using, and just getting a pair of single cable locks, which does the same purpose (such as the Master Lock units) but without the high rate of failures when compared to this particular product.

Good lock BUT TSA can only open the short side of the cable!
It has been a good lock for me, BUT I just learned the hard way that the TSA key does not operate both cables. I had used it to lock two (2) sets of zipper pulls together on the same bag, only to have the long cable cut. Here is the clarification from Lewis N. Clark:Please note: TSA can only open the short side of the cable on TSA80 Triple Security Locks and only the side that specifies TSA next to the cable end. Please loop short end thru zippers and long end around handle. That was NEVER clearly identified in the packaging that I recall, and seems to be a bit misleading, so learn from my experience!

Wish I had these for the last 20 years!
I wish I had had these years ago. I travel a lot internationally, and sometimes you want to not just lock the bag, but make sure that someone behind the scenes can't do the "push thru the zipper with a pencil, open the bag, rip stuff off, and then pull BOTH zipper tabs over to re-close the zipper" business. This double lock solves that problem because you can lock the second loop around your luggage handle, so no one will be able to move your zippers in either direction. The big loop is also long enough that you may be able to hook it through not just your main compartment zipper, but the secondary compartment as well. You can also lock your bag to a luggage rack and catch some rest on the train/bus, knowing that nobody will be able to rip off your suitcase while you sleep or go to the WC. This is a great idea, well made - thank you!

My all-purpose travel locks
After having had to destroy a suitcase on which the built-in lock seized, I no longer use built-in luggage locks. Rather, I have multiples of this item which I throw into the front compartments of my rollaboard and checked bag. If one is cut off, there's a replacement handy. It's a WHOLE LOT easier and cheaper to trash one of these rather than another suitcase. I've used these for years on long-haul flights to close the zippers and attach personal (computer) bag to seat frame when I'm in the lavatory. Also thread one of them through the end loops of a separate 3' plastic-coated wire to connect all my luggage pieces together for layovers, dining, etc. When you travel solo, there isn't another person to "watch the luggage" while you stand in line for food or whatever. While many of the reviews for this are negative because it's failed and they've had to cut it off, or TSA has cut it, I look at that as a hazard with any lock and just another cost of travel. For me, being able to easily cut this off (without destroying zippers or the suitcase) is a plus. BTW, I've only had one of these seize-up in about 10 years of using them.

Good Product, Abysmal Packaging and Not So Good Instructions
The locks we ordered for our trip to the Adriatic arrived on time and intact. The packaging was incredibly difficult to open, 2 layers of plastic that resisted even my sharpest knife (I hate to have to use a knife to open a package anyway) and had to be completely opened to access the instructions. The instructions for setting a personal combination were incredibly nebulous. One has to push the cable ends towards the center of the lock to release them but that wasn't clear. I set the combo to 000 as instructed and pulled and yanked and twisted until I decided to watch a video of someone opening it. The search for the video shouldn't have been necessary. All considered tho, I have confidence this will meet our secure luggage needs. We also purchased additional cable to secure luggage to sink drain pipes, etc in hotels.Don't forget to remove the reset tool (red plastic in image)! That's not very clear in the instructions either. Perhaps the maker is relying on common sense and forgetting Murphy's Law.

DON'T BUY FOR AIR TRAVEL - TSA will CUT the cables.
These are not TSA compatible. TSA cut through the cable to inspect the contents of the bag. This happened twice - different trips and different airports.
