EastlandWomen's Classic II Penny Loafer

Don't even know why I have other shoes
I had a pair of Eastland loafers that I purchased five years ago and wore them religiously for work. Unfortunately, I didn't take as good care of them as I probably should and they looked pretty tired after awhile with the seams looking a bit frayed and marks on the leather. They still held up but didn't look that great. I decided to get another pair but ended up with a larger size this time (either my feet grew or Eastland changed their manufacturing). I wear the thinner trouser type socks with these. At first the loafers may feel tight or that they might be uncomfortable but with most leather shoes, they conform to your feet after a short time and they're fine. I've never felt actively uncomfortable in these even in the beginning. These are great because they go with absolutely everything - jeans, trousers, casual, business. They are made in China according to the label inside but they are of great quality. My previous ones didn't hold up because I work in an office/warehouse environment and stepped in stuff I should have wiped off right away and didn't. These are easy to clean. Just take a wet cloth and wipe whatever you need to off. The soles never wore on my old ones and I wore those things everyday. I work in an environment that can be slippery and I've never had issue with these as far as traction goes. I also have kitchen tile that turns into a glacier when wet. I've slipped on it with other shoes I have but never with these. I walked with these in the rain and the finish is such that you can generally wipe them off when you get inside and you're good. I wouldn't go walking around in puddles with them but walking outside on a solid surface when it's raining is fine.I like these so much that I got the navy, burgundy and tan ones as well.

The shoe looks & feel like plastic. Definetly not what I expected
The shoe looks & feel like plastic. Definetly not what I expected. I wore these shoes as a kid, and they did not look or feel like these today. Definetly returning for a refund. I ordered the Navy, and the color is way off, a weird dull bluish color that is not Navy.

II Designation Stands for "Cheaply Made"
My old Eastland Classic Loafers were a size 8 medium, and I wore them and was very happy with them for a long time until they wore out. I ordered the Classic II, mistakenly ordering 8 wide the first time. They fit except for the heels, which were way too wide. I returned them without problems for an 8 medium. These way too narrow in the base of toe area, but I'm hoping they will stretch in time. I do believe the II designation means cheaply made - the leather is not the same as on my old ones, and the soles are much thinner and not very well made. Since my previous pair wore so well for years and were very comfortable, I am very disappointed with the new ones.

good, but not as nice as expected
I had bought these is the brown/black combo and just loved the soft leather and fit, so decided to try these (navy). They are more a slate blue, which is okay, but the leather is stiffer and shiny. Also, they were a little tight across the instep on my left foot where I have a bunion. After a day in a shoe stretcher I use, that problem was solved. They fit well with a mid-weight "trouser" sock. My brown/black i can wear with or without a sock because they are softer and conform to the foot better.

Doesn't fit quite right
I would really love this shoe but it doesn't fit quite right. I normally wear a medium width shoe but this shoe seems to run small. I had a hard time slipping my heal into the back of the shoe, had to use a shoehorn, but once my foot was in the length was perfect. It seems to be made of good quality and well constructed. I'm debating sending it back or not. I'm thinking maybe with a wear in period my foot might settle into it. I won't exchange it because a wider width will be too wide. Although the toe room area is very comfortable the area at the tongue of the shoe is somewhat tight. I'll have to read through more reviews to see if this shoe stretches at all after wearing it awhile before making my decision to return it. Otherwise it's a beautiful well constructed shoe.

PASS!
I've worn this brand of shoe before in other styles and have been very happy. These loafers, however are awful! They are very, very poorly made! They hurt my feet just trying them on. Both shoes looked exactly the same in that it was hard to tell which was for the right foot and which was for the left. The soles were curved up. They hurt, they didn't fit, I returned them.

Not a Bass loafer
These are not like the cute Bass loafers I've loved in the past. The leather is not as nice. It looks kind of cheap and fake. The tip of the shoe is a little rounder and not as attractive. The biggest problem is they fit tightly across the top of your foot. I have thin size 7 feet ( Not wide) and I've never had a shoe fit tightly. Even with thin socks, these hurts my feet and I take them off by mid day.If you go without socks, the seam in the back is hard and painful. Overall, a disappointment. I would not purchase them again. Even though they are fairly new, I will be purchasing something else.
