Comes with no instructions
This product did not come with any hard copy instructions and did not connect well with your app and home WIFI and then have to wait for Amazon for 1-4 weeks to get a refund back this is sad that the manufacturer and Amazon destroyed this product and hard copies of instructions are good for when and if people have learning disabilities like me. This product may be a good product but I didn't get a chance to experience it.

Pretty good sysytem for the price
This does exactly what we need. To install, I used some hints that I have picked up reading reviews on various systems on the web. I located the base station roughly centered in my house and near network access. I taped the cameras in place around the house in locations that I wanted to monitor I had excellent luck getting all cameras to connect even though several locations went through many walls. After everything proved out, I was able to install all the cameras permanently with a minimum of work. I had to install a couple of power outlets as the cords were too short. My one issue that I think would be very helpful with the cameras would be to mount the antenae more on the side so that the antenae could be adjusted to point up or down. I mounted the cameras up high near the soffits and there was no room to have then pointed up. I could have them go sort of downward at an angle. Another option would be to have the option to hang the cameras upside down and flip the image displayed on the monitor and app.I used the Eseecloud app. Both recommended apps were written by the same guy, so it didn't seem to matter which one was used. Eseecloud had the most recent publish date so I selected it. It is kind of a limited app but it seems to do the job. It is very easy to accidentally swipe the display and show the camera set 4-8 which I don't have installed. All you see is 4 black screens with the spinning update. Of course it will never update. A swipe will bring you back the the installed 4 cameras. The full screen display is usable, but it would be very nice to be able to show a single camera in the full screen mode.I haven't done anything fancy on the recordings, just record all the time I think there is roughly a month of recording which is plenty for my needs. All in all, a pretty good system for the price.

Excellent Security Camera System - A Lot of Bang for Your Money
After a lot of reviewing specs, comparing prices, and considering customer reviews I decided on this system, and I am very happy that I did. In my opinion this is the best value for the money in terms of quality and value. The cameras are truly "plug and play". I purchased a separate 32" TV to use as a dedicated monitor on Amazon for $130.00. This is a better option then buying a system that comes with a monitor as those monitors are typically very small and if you want that size for viewing just download the app to your phone or tablet. I downloaded the app to my phone and can check in LIVE at anytime as well.Customer service is great too. They are very concerned about providing good customer service and that is very important to me. I called the customer service number because had a couple of questions during setup that were addressed promptly. They were patient and very informative. Another reason I had to contact customer service was to inquire about additional cameras because I did not see any individual cameras for my system on Amazon. PLEAS NOTE: If you purchase the 4 camera system and decide to add additional cameras you will have to contact the customer service number to have them send you a link to purchase the additional cameras on Amazon. The setup is very easy. I am not technical and I was able to get all 4 cameras online in seconds. One thing I would like to mention - once I got the 4 cameras setup I decided that I would like more coverage and wanted to add additional cameras. It is much easier and cheaper if you buy more than you need (i.e. 8 camera system) than to have to purchase more after the fact. Lesson learned, but not a big deal. Still the best system for the money.I installed my cameras outside. Unless you have access to electrical outlets that are convenient to where you want to mount the cameras you will need to have someone that is familiar with light electrical work to install the cameras and wire them into you electrical source. This can be expensive or inexpensive - totally dependent on who you hire. At first I contacted a company that primarily installed security systems and got a quote of $800 for 4 cameras, I tried a few handyman sites and got quotes around $240 for 4 cameras, then I contacted TAKL.com and I was able to get the 4 cameras installed for $120! FYI - on their site this was considered a SMALL ELECTRICAL job.

My Experience, Mainly Bad to Worst
In 2019 when I was first installing this system, I had a lot of problems and miscommunications/constant communications with customer service reps in order to get this system up and running.First, you can call the toll free number but it only tells you to send an email but you can leave a message. (There is a computer audio 'Fiona' if you're on the mysteriously labeled after 5PM access number, as opposed to the non after 5pm number - like 5pm WHERE? PST, EST, Mountain/Central time?)So you write the email and even if you're very specific on your query as to your need and availability. You ALSO have to list your Amazon Order Number as that is the only identifier they have for you and will not assist you otherwise, meaning you are probably locked into a cust svc availability based upon your purchase date. You might get an answer but not all the answers you want or the answers you are given are not applicable for you, for instance a video link that doesn't answer your question or deal with your equipment, or sometimes it's out-of-date.You will MAYBE get a call-back because cust svc MAY returns calls, but you can't predict when that call will come in, could be same day or next day, at any hour of the day or night., no matter what you specified in your voice message or email request. If you're not in front of your monitor/hard drive when the call is returned it doesn't do you much good.We did manage one brief FACETIME that wasn't very informative. And this was after the confusion that started when 'Fiona' was operating under an assumption I had been sent a NEWER hard drive rather than the old version so she kept giving me the wrong set of instructions. So it seemed once we progressed in one area, a new issue developed.I had to order an additional camera in later 2019 then that became an issue as it first had to be synced to the hard drive. Then I had to get a wifi extender - their own brand - so it would work with the weak signal that was afflicting two of my cameras, causing them to stop working frequently. Then the extender went screeching bad in less than a year from the purchase and that was replaced by them but they sent me one that didn't work. Now that might be similar to the time they sent me a Thank You gratis RING type feature but that proved to be an empty casing, as nothing that would make it functional was included in the inside. For the cameras the instruction booklet I received w product wasn't correct for my hard drive. Also when I was complaining because FF was only to 8 and they said it went to 32 (as if I don't know how to FF, they even sent me a video via email, which was weird because I knew how to FF since I already told them it went to 8!), well, I had to send them a video of me (their request) going through the motion until they realized I only had up to 8 capability, it wasn't me being incompetent. Again, mistaken hard drive issue. So this goes back to the hard drive confusion on their end. I was emailed instructions - which I had to ask clarification on - on how to upgrade my hard drive, and then it turned out my hard drive was one of their older models as they had sent me an 8 when 32 was - about the same week - being shipped out. And a NO or No Response, on my request to swap out my hard drive for one of the new standard ones. In the end, the 32 would probably make it hard to discern any fast action taking place on camera review, you'd need to be slower than that.So some of our issues were because they were giving me instructions - as was the instruction booklet - that didn't correspond to what I had.Anyway, the 8 FF is still too slow for me, discouraging me from even looking at my files, but first I had set my cameras to Motion detection only, as a way to try and get a handle on this. As the hard drive fills up with data the older files are deleted to make space for the new. However there is a big issue with a faulty MOTION activation only. I literally had kids running from twenty to about five feet in front of my camera, racing, and it did not switch on, though the same camera would switch on when an insect flew past it. So the safe option is the 24-hr option which also allows you the much longer than 65 feet visual and it gives you that 24/hr recording that is broken into one hour increments. Literally anything you can see from the camera in turns of distance - for me that is literally down the block - will show up on the film. There is an audio availability on this but I'd advise you research your County laws as mostly that is illegal operation w/out a permit. So you might want to make sure you have Audio turned off.You can download individual files via Backup from the hard drive onto a flash drive.I also started ignoring the booklet and stopped contacting customer service and tried to work through issues on my own.As I said, I had to order a separate - 5th - camera and that one cost a lot of money in terms of price compared to camera kit 4.The plus side: the cameras can be adjusted for angle, you get a complete hardware kit with each camera. But the cameras are stationary/fixed. Covering a wide area I had to get the additional camera. When the cameras say they cover up to 65 feet they show a lot further (straight shot) than that, the depth is actually huge, but not for night vision. During the daytime, my cameras show me across the street and even down one entire block.I have had an issue with one camera losing night vision capability, it completely failed for a few days but corrected itself. I have another camera with night 'lack of' vision (yep, the red lights are on) beyond a few feet. But for night vision improvement I went into the brightness scheme setting to move over to maximum, still not best but better than it was.On the plus side, in the beginning when I was having a problem getting my hard drive to work with my chosen monitor, it turned out the HDMI wasn't going to work with my TV (you can't use a notebook/laptop as a monitor), so I thought about the VGA computer hookup, couldn't locate that cable at a local store (these cables aren't commonly purchased anymore so hard to find even in electronics stores), and I happened to mention it to cust svc and they shipped me one via their own Amazon order! That was a pleasant surprise and what was even better, that idea of mine worked! Voila! (I really hadn't expected it to work. I had wanted to locate a local store for return-ability of a cable I thought wouldn't work anyway.) Yep, if your monitor's a TV and you are already using up your HDMI you will need a VGA hookup to make this work. Then there was another problem, major, that a mouse that was via cable - which they shipped as part of the package - was bad (and the mouse died fast, anyway) - as it wasn't going to work out as the router box cabling to the hard drive to the TV and then a mouse cable! Obviously needed a cable-free mouse and that worked. I mean, try to imagine going thru the hard drive menu and viewing each cameras history and having to be within one foot of the hard drive which is trapped betw a TV and a router setup! So the mouse was sent to me via cust svc as well, another freebie! Again, not asked for but cust svc saw my need and notified me only as they had it shipped directly to me. It was Above and Beyond in terms of Cust Svc trying to deal with hardware problems. (That mouse I could have found in a local store so it was an example of Cust Svc going the extra mile.) One issue, the mouse USB has to be disconnected because the same port is used for USB for backup flashdrive.About the hard drive, unfortunately you can't delete files from the hard drive directly, you have to access the cloud. I think that is a huge disadvantage and lack of efficiency, lack of one-stop-shopping as it were. But the older files would be automatically overwritten as space requires, much like DVRs.Do realize you can do a lot of your screen adjustments yourself once you have your hard drive up and running, going thru the setups on your own. But be sure you have a backup monitor you can hook up to if you change your ratio setting as I tried that and I lost the entire screen, it went black, and the hard drive was working but now I had no access to anything on the hard drive, no way to restore - there is no RESET to prior or factory settings on the hard drive. So I had to bring a different TV in and then I ended up restoring the original settings via the access to hard drive monitor from the second TV. (Kinda fun to compare pictures of computer setting monitor on one TV and HDMI setting of monitor into the other TV.) But if you've got nothing but one screen on hand for use as a monitor, beware changing any ratio setting!Another problem with this system is you should access at least three times a day, the pics on your monitor, because for no reason whatsoever the cameras will need a reset and you want to catch them ASAP when they are not working. Like unplug/plug back in, wherever you have them plugged into an outlet. Even with a strong signal you will find your picture is gone, for no reason. Maybe so many resets required because of constant activation? You can't predict when/if you will talk w cust svc or they will respond to emails. I think a lot of the problems I was having - which kept me from being operational for a couple of weeks when I first obtained this product - would have been resolved quickly if me (customer) and cust svc had the opportunity to be on the same page at the same time. Instead it was a lot of frustrated follow-ups, like one step forward but two steps back and then a leap forward, but three steps back. They did their best, but they deal with customers of various ranges of experiences with hardware and software. That has to be difficult. If you try conversing on the phone there can be noise disruptions in the background and also vernacular or accent issues. Perhaps they could resolve one of their issues if they set appt times with customers rather than the fly-by-the-seat-of-their-pants hit-or-miss. And verify which system hard drive a customer has so they can get on the same page with that customer. The Order Number you provide to them or their request for the model number from you should let them know the hard drive you have. The latest - Summer 2020 - is pretty bad. I had the issue with the deep signal extender killing itself in less than a year and the one that didn't work they shipped me so I had to purchase one. I got that but was unable to get the two cameras reset with the extender and needed help. Now there is no human 'Fiona' but a human 'Melody' who was hard to get ahold of, even when I requested a specific 8 hour timeframe and suggested the FACETIME I knew we'd need. Anyway, she got back to me ONCE at 15 minutes before my cutoff time and we set an appt time for the next night at a mutually agreeable time. Then I never heard from her on that or subsequent days. There is no return email to respond to my subsequent queries and no return call from their two toll-free phone numbers, and I have left messages several times.Simply the worst customer service/tech support I've ever heard of let alone experienced.I've had to give up on my system and order a similar based hard drive - external camera setup from another company that customers say has good customer support. What a waste of time and money with SAFEVANT! Watch out for the cheap products, too.

You can't beat this system for the price, quality and outstanding customer service!
I've had this system now since April 24 of 2019, and I am thrilled with it. I did extremely extensive research (for several months because I have much more time than money) before I finally purchased this security system. Installing the hard-drive only took me about 20 minutes (all by myself) and was definitely worth the extra savings. Now their 960P system with an included 1 TB hard-drive for the same exact price was very tempting, but the downside for the 960P is that 1080P gives you a superior image ( especially for objects that aren't up close) and can make quite a difference when using the digital zoom feature. It was only $50 more for me to buy and install my own 2 TB hard-drive, which gave me twice as much recording time. Plus the 1080P cameras are $20 more each if bought separately, so that adds up to $160 ( 8 x 20) which more than paid for the hard-drive which I added. This system for overall quality matches many systems costing lots more, and the customer service with this company is simply unbeatable, (another reason why I chose this system over others) where with most companies (that makes security systems) their customer service is pretty much nonexistent. One of the minor downsides is that this customer service is on overseas time, (you have to call late evening) and not our time. The second larger one is the operating manual that comes with the system covers just the bare-basic features, and so I had to call their toll-free customer service number or post the question on Amazon (which always came back with an answer, and always the next day from the seller) or just read all of the many write-ups on Amazon for these Safevant Security Systems. If it came with an in-depth operating manual I would have given this system a super-solid 5 Star rating, but then I'm pretty sure more than likely we would have had to pay about $150 or more for this same exact system (when comparing it to others). I'll close by saying that no-one gave me anything to write this review. I just feel that it is only fair to sometimes shower a company with praise ( when it is truly deserved) when it is doing an overall outstanding job (and I do also write complaints on bad companies) because companies giving you a really good product ( in today's market) for a reasonable price is quickly becoming ( very sadly) a thing of the past. Far too many companies "today" ...are "purposely" making crappy products just too maximize the CEO's outrageous pay along with stock-holder profits! Now tell me that's not true!

They work
If you’re in a windy place like I am in west Tx you might seek dust covers for them on the outside.I put in a question here as to any specific kind.Other than that, I’ve had no problem with 2 way, the alarms work great, pics are better one on one, but when you pair with your phone you can tweak them.I would recommend these cams for your security.Easy to put up. I used 3 way heavy duty outdoor extension cords for them.Everything is great. Had them several months nowSometimes they go offline, you just have to re enter your password in the main menu. It’s annoying but worth it
