A little goes a long way!
High sheen, and a color similar to gold leaf. A great additional to my watercolor palette.

Gorgeous medium warm brown
The most beautiful warm medium brown, absolutely gorgeous! More beautiful than anything I've seen in the Daniel Smith line. I wish this brand offered a fuller range of colors via sellers through Amazon.

A little goes a long way
compact, convenient, and a must have for traveling artists. I have not used liquid oxgall before but after this, I see little reason to try. I just do a few swipes with a slightly damp brush and mix it in with whatever color I am using and I am pretty much guaranteed to have a perfectly smooth wash of paint. It works well with granulating pigments, I have found, the pigments in Daniel Smith's moonglow has a tendency to separate as it dries if it's too wet. With the oxgall the pigments stayed combined and dried evenly.I feel I should also point out that the pans from Schmincke is slightly shorter than the 'standard' half pans I have. However, they do not taper at the bottom. The difference is not huge or even a problem, but it is noticeable if you have a mix of pans in your palette.

Great watercolors
I currently live in a city that has no really excellent art supply stores so I was very happy to be able to purchase Schmincke pan watercolors through Jacksons Art and Amazon. I love the rich colors in the Schmincke line of watercolors and wanted to supplement a previously purchase set of Schmincke pan watercolors with some additional colors. I'm very glad to have been able to purchase these here!

I exclusively use Schmincke Horadam watercolors because I love the reliable quality, high quality pigments, and workability they offer. There are many beautiful and vibrant colors available, and I have built my pallette over several years.Using pans rather than tubes means that I can travel with my paints in my carry-on.I definitely recommend this brand.

Pretty Pink!!
I was in the mood for a nice BRIGHT pink. This is it! The paint is good quality, mixes well, and is just fun to play with. Goes a long way toward beating the late winter blahs.

Gives amazing results and smells beautifully of lavender oil too.
This is a half-pan filled with a compressed, concentrated oxgall, for use in watercolour painting. It is manufactured by the Schmincke company in Germany - known for their very fine quality watercolour paints. Half-pans vary a little bit in size and this particular brand use ones a little too big to fit into Winsor and Newton (artist-grade or Cotman student grade) boxes, but one can easily file it down to fit properly, of course. I wanted this for painting outdoors this summer as it is more convenient than carrying a bottle of oxgall solution into the field. The oxgall itself is a brownish dehydrated paste in the half-pan, scented with lavender oil for some reason - either to make it less unpleasant or as an antifungal. The purpose of oxgall (a concentrated form of the bile of a cow - the soap-like compounds in bile help fats to emulsify in the bowel, and so the same soap-like compounds are what are active here) is to help wet the pigments in the paint one is using so that the paint flows better across the paper or that the pigment grains granulate in a more even way - it ultimately gives one options for very smooth finishes. This particular form of oxgall (most watercolourists are used to it being in a weak solution in a bottle) works really well and gives you a lot of options - you can paint it onto the paper then add the paint, you can mix it with paint in a pool on the palette or you can pick a little up on the brush then swipe it across a pan of paint. It's very pleasantly scented so actually makes it even more relaxing to work paint! It gives beautiful results and I'm sure it will last a very long time. My only downside of it is the half-pain being a non-standard size - I have managed to shave it down with a file to make it fit my boxes - it will probably fit more easily into the kinds of box that have the sprung metal clips that hold onto the half-pans.

An Ideal Neutral Yellow From An Excellent Brand
I needed a single pigment yellow that was neither warm or cool (for a complimentary palette) and this fits the bill beautifully. It blends effortlessly with my Schmincke Akademie and a couple of other brands. It's a pleasure to use as the colour releases quickly without any need for scrubbing at the pan and it's easy to control on the paper. It's not cheap, but it's no dearer than any other artist brand and it's high pigment load coupled with hand pouring the paint makes it very economical thus well worth the money. The pigment it PY154, benzimidazolone yellow and is highly lightfast.
