Big Confidence Boosters on Dry Terrain. Average performance on Mud.
I bought Folding 60a, 26x2.25, for front and rear.I've been riding these babes for about 4 months now. My confidence has increased a lot. Ardents really grips in corners. I can keep up with my faster friends now! This is by far the best improvement that I have done to my bike (not the most expensive). I replaced some stock Kendas from my bike that used to washout a lot.I ride dry terrain most of the time, but there are some forest swtichbacks with mud and leaves on my local trail that these tires just can't hold up. Maybe it's my lack of skill, but I blame it on the tires because mud gets really packed in the knobs.I guess you can't have the best of both worlds in a single tire. I ride hardpack most of the time so I bought Ardents knowing that it is not the best mud tire.I highly recommend this upgrade, believe me, you'll feel the difference.Pros:- Grippy as F- Lightweight (For this type of Tire)- Confidence Builder- Low Rolling Resistance- Killer Look (Don't care much about this, but some people does)Cons:- Slow Mud Shedding to my experience- A bit overpriced- Sidewalls look weak (No problems so far for me tho)

Grippy Fast Roller!
I picked up the 26x2.4 60a Folder, and after a couple hundred miles its holding up great. This thing grips very well, and rolls much faster than I expected it to. In fact, my buddy uses the Maxxis "High Roller" and it felt about the same as the Ardent. I beat it up and the tire still shows minimal wear.. so as long as you stay off the pavement you should be fine. I hit about 40 yards of road getting onto the trails and it vibrates quite a bit from the aggressive tread.... not to mention its pretty loud. But as soon as it hits the dirt this sucker flies silently..I've had no punctures through the Ardent and it throws mud well. Nothing worse than constant flats or knobby tires that hold mud and become slicks. I run the Maxxis Ignitor in the rear because its easier to sweep turns, keeping the Ardent in the front to guide the way. Best setup i've found so far for my style of riding..EDIT: About 450 miles on the Ardent and still feels like new. Minimal signs of wear! In fact, I switched out my Ignitor in the rear for an Ardent 2.25 because I needed more traction in the damp winter climbs. Sure enough, it grips like crazy.. throws mud like the 2.4 in the front... and holds tight in the turns.

My favorite tires for east coast roots and rocks
I use 26X2.25 front and rear on my rocky mountain slayer. Run around 32 psi in the back and 29-31 up front. I drop it when ride in wet conditions or really slow technical stuff.Pros:Fast rollingVery durable (front tire has has big slice in it from rock for awhile and its perfectly fine)LightishStiff knobsGREAT in corners if you ride really aggressively and lean the bike over hardRear traction is great once you have proper pressure and technique for your style/weightCons:Can wash out if you don't ride aggressively or have too little air in front tire and hit a corner going fastSmall knobs on front can become overwhelmed in very loose conditionsRequire a lot of trial and error with riding style and air pressures before optimal performance can be obtainedOverall, these are the best tires I have ever ridden. No other tires I have tired can compare in terms of a compromise between grip/speed. Sure, I could run HR2 2.4 front and back and have a lot more grip, but I would roll slower and not have as much fun.

Ardent MTB Tire
I ordered this tire specifically because I NEED a cut resistant tire. The product description here leaves out this important info. I was nervous about ordering but took the chance because the only Ardent tire size, 26 x 2.4, as specified by Maxxis shows "EXO" protection, which is cut resistant. Amazon, you need to fix the description to give customers some confidence with placing orders. I just placed a second order for this tire and I hope it arrives as the "EXO" Ardent. I can not use tires that are not cut resistant! Nevertheless, the Ardent EXO has been performing quite well for me. Decent traction. I have been thrashing this tire in the sharp rocks going down hill and uphill. No sliced tire yet. Consider that in the time I have been using the Ardent EXO, I have sliced open a Purgatory Control, Maxxis Minion (non-exo) and a Butcher.

Worth the extra $$$, Awesome
I didn't think tires mattered as much as they do until I got these. Huge upgrade over my last tires. These are super absorbant of shock going downhill, very grippy going uphill, and also faster on pavement. Very impressed

Good Tire For My Biking Styl
These tires get the job done, but be advised they aren't deeply knobbed. If you're looking for deep knobs go with another tire. I like less deep knobs because I bike to most of the trails I ride on using surface streets and also use my mt bike for surface street biking as well. So the medium knobs fits my style. I'm not a super aggressive biker on the trails either and avoid trails that lean more technical.

Maxxis Ardent 29er 2.25
I've been running Maxxis Ignitors on my 29er for a couple years now. While they have been excellent in most aspects I always would get some front wheel push in hard cornering and would have to scrub alot of speed. Not anymore now that I'm running the Ardent on the front with an Ignitor in the rear. This tire bites hard and rails corners, instills alot of confidence. I run the Ardent 2.25 up front at 28psi and the Ignitor 2.1 out back at 32psi, this combo seams perfect so far. The Ignitor rolls fast and has good traction but can be kicked out when needed easily in tight twisties all the while the Ardent leading the way. Very pleased so far after about 30 miles (2 days) of riding on east coast (NH) rocky, rooty, muddy, loose technical to pine buff conditions!

I love these tyres
There is a very good reason these sell so well. I dont even bother to switch out anymore, ardent front and rear summer or winter, commute or single track!

Kevlar? Tyres
After multiple punctures on my old off road tyres I was attracted to these because of the word Kevlar associated with the product. I was little sceptical when fitting the tyres because of their soft and pliable quality, very unlike the resilient feel of the Kevlar tyres on my road bike. I know my off-road tyres are more than twice the diameter of my road bike but they feel just too soft and rubbery and I'm still getting small thorn punctures both front and back. I am by nature an old sceptic but it makes me wonder if there is one thread of Kevlar in these tyres or by using the word Kevlar in the ad justifies the higher pricetag. As knobbly tyres they're fine as knobbly Kevlar tyres I'm massively dissapointed

kevlar?
Bought these tyres to cope with winter mud and the combination of stone chips and hedge trimmings that coat the roads at this time of year. The tyres seem ok off-road though not as good in slippery mud as I had hoped but my larger concern is of three punctures in four rides. I use kevlar-protected road tyres and puncture rate is very very low; these tyres have 'kevlar' printed on them whereas the Maxxis, although billed on the site as 'kevlar', carry no such claim and neither does the packaging...just makes me wonder if they do have kevlar protection.
