Great introduction to wargame
I love this game and it's a great introduction/precursor to bigger war games. The rules for play and super simple and you don't have to make your own armies. I bought this for my dad as he used to play it a ton back in the day, now I've been playing it with him.

Lies lies lies
There were far fewer pieces to this board game than advertised. Not even close to a complete game. I'll never buy another thing from this merchant.

Broken Game
This is a broken game. The good guys always win, without exception. You wouldn't think so considering the chaos army has more units than the Imperial army, but if you calculate the strength of the armies based on attack dice, then the armies are about equal, with the chaos army totaling 41 while the imperial army totals 37. The unit that really tilts the balance however is the "mighty cannon". The way that mighty cannon works is that you place a target on any unit on the field, and as long as the cannon doesn't misfire, the unit is automatically destroyed, even if it had been previously undamaged. The chances of the cannon misfiring increase as the distance increases, starting at 0 for an adjacent unit, and increasing about 10% per space. But, the cannon can also "bounce" off units, causing one damage, and so if, like in checkers, you place the path of the cannon ball along all the enemy units, then you can damage all or some of their units as the cannon flies, and even if it misfires, it will just end up killing another enemy unit, not necessarily the exact target. The Chaos army's answer to the cannon is the "Ogre Champion". A more appropriate name for this unit is the "Ogre Chump", the most useless unit in the whole game. Despite his four attack dice number (Which I did calculate into the total), he doesn't attack like other units. Instead, when his card turns up (will explain later what that means) he draws from a special pile of six cards which get shuffled every time. Three of them say move, three of them say attack. So, what ends up happening, is that you're ogre ends up sitting at the back of the field swinging at the air because the move cards never show up, and usually ends up being the last unit to get killed, having contributed absolutely nothing. The movement is awkward as well, in that contrary to what would seem like the best method for a game like this (which would be players taking turns moving 3 units at a time) the movement is determined by random cards with pictures on them as to which units get to move that turn. Under this system, sometimes the chaos army gets five turns in a row before the opposing army even gets a chance to move. Sometimes your knights get caught behind some archers, and lose three turns in a row because their card popped up three times before the archer card, and so there is nothing you can do except move them back and forth. There are also terrain features that favor only the imperial army. There are ditches that you can't move across, and you get an attack penalty to attack across it, but not the archers. So, the imperial army has archers that have 3 attack dice while the chaos army archers only have 2 attack dice. Also, the Imperial army has crossbowmen that can attack THREE spaces away, yes, I said THREE.This game would be fun if the forces were actually equal. Also, because all the figurines are only meant to stand on their bases, you can't even take them to use for another game like Heroquest, Dungeons and Dragons, or Dragonstrike.I give this game three stars because despite all its flaws, it is still very ambitious in trying to portray armies battling each other on a massive board, and for nostalgia's sake, from when I used to play this game as a child. (Back then, I just thought my brother was a better player. Now I know the game was rigged.)

Great Game
I got this game for christmas one year when I was very young. I remember the tv add and got very exicited and just had to have it. After being board to death with dumb down games like battle ship, clue and the likes this game was a breath of fresh air. Although I was young I study the rules on a day to day basis trying my hardest to make sense of it all. Keep in mind that this was the first war game I ever attempted to play. The game included a huge map/ map that if I recall was made of vinyle and the armys where unpainted. But with someone willing to learn the rules was a very fun game. If you got the extra cash pick it up or Hero Quest that was a fun game as well.

Best game ever
I still have an old, very banged up that I will not give up. Very fun game and played the hell out of it as a kid. Was here to see if anyway it started being made again. Like others said this is a great intro to bigger war games and fun to stick with on it's own.

Fun nostalgic game
I have this game on my shelf in the basement. It's a fun game, takes alot of time setting up which is possibly why my parents loved it so much. You have two armies, one human and the other army is orcs and goblins. The board is a gigantic vinyl matt with squares to move your players. There are tiles with marsh lands and defensive positions you can move around the map before the game starts to make it a new battlefield each time. It's fun to play but like I said, it takes awhile to set up all the guys. Glad to see a board game is now as much as a ps4.
